Always a pleasure! Love it here... whether I’m celebrating something special or just stopping in for a quick bite and a glass of wine.
We met with old friends at Sips on Saturday evening. What a wonderful place, with terrific food and amazing cocktails! Our server was very attentive and we enjoyed ourselves very much. This may be our new meeting spot!
SIPS seems to need more of an identity...the ambiance and the crowd it attracts seem not to be sophisticated....but the menu features very limited french selections at high prices...as if this was an elegant top francais eatery...we would definitely not return...we found families with babies and loud dressed down locals there...at a somewhat thrown together and beat up looking restaurant charging $14. for a very small glass of sancere wine. To us, the place is conflicted...while the food wasn't bad, the prices were too high for the average level quality offered..and like I said, the decor there is rustic but not to me in a charming way... We like to be supportive of newer suburban spots ...and of Phoenixville and West Chester as small towns on the rise...but we were turned off by the clientele and the high prices....it wasn't a match for us...to end on a good note, the three of us agreed the service was excellent.
Service was great, even for a very busy Mother's Day. Food was great and portions were good.
Went here for Mother's Day brunch, party of 3. We had the Croque Monsieur (excellent), French Toast, Eggs Benedict, and Sips B'fast, all of which were tasty and very well prepared. Staff here are always friendly and polite, and the owner Fabian keeps an eye on things to make sure everything is satisfactory. In our case, he even came to find me to let me know my car's lights were still on. Not our first time at Sips, and won't be the last either. One of the better restaurants in Phoenixville area.
My husband and I were kicking off the start of our vacation. Sips had good reviews on OpenTable and Yelp so we made a reservation. The bar and restaurant are welcoming and comfortable. The service was very good - not hovering but very attentive. The menu struck us as odd with one page of food choices and 2 pages of drink choices. We started with mussels Belgian style. It was a good portion for sharing. The mussels were perfectly cooked but the sauce was a bit bland. Next we shared the charcuterie platter. It was very good size and quite tasty - duck salami, boar salami and soppresato with mustard and garnishes. For the main course we shared Chicken Roti. It was DELICIOUS and definitely enough for 2.
Just as we were about to leave the skies opened up with torrential rain so we checked out the bar. It was a very friendly welcoming atmosphere. They had a great crowd for happy hour when we arrived too.
The bar area is relaxed and the service is outstanding. The food is very good, and consistently meets a very high standard. Specials are normally excellent as well as the happy hour menu.
Priced well. Service was great! Sat on patio at dusk, it was perfect. Ordered the cheese board, French onion soup and grilled short rib sandwich, my date ordered leBurger. The soup lacked adequate croutons and gruyère. Flavor of broth was very good though. The cheese plate was served with a walnut cranberry bread which was not as good as the baguettes served to the table. The grilled short rib sandwich was excellent. LeBurger was ordered at medium rare and it was well done. The fries served with the sandwiches were good and freshly made from scratch, however true French fries are cooked twice. The second time it is cooked in super hot oil so the fries are crispy outside while still a fluffy potato internally. These were cooked once and soggy, although hot and well seasoned. I would recommend over all. I’m just quite familiar with true French cuisine and am a little bit picky, especially with the prices where they are, I expected a little more quality.
Just moved to the area from New Jersey. We were surprised how quaint and cozy this place was. The food was absolutely delicious and well presented. The service was great. We will bring family and friends here.
Great cheese and charcuterie platter!!
The food was wonderful! The service was excellent! I would eat here again!
Great food and service. Our server was great about his recommendations and was spot on about what he thought I may like! The mussels with Thai curry sauce was amazing!
Love this place. Great food and great service always.
I can't wait to go back! The service was beyond exceptional. The food was absolutely to die for. Sips has far exceeded all of my expectations!
We enjoyed the Avocado & smoked Salmon toast appetizer, Steak Frites & favorite Sips Verde Salad. The selection of delicious cocktails & variety of beer never disappoints. The patio has the ambience of a good friend's backyard without the hassle of having to cook. The only down side, on a busy night there is not enough parking. As loyal patrons, we are thrilled to see Sips Thriving!
The outdoor seating was nice and plentiful but not all that ambiance-filled. The food was good / tasty but *incredibly* overpriced. A pasta special with "spring vegatables and rabbit" was not-fresh penne, a just-okay sauce, and peas and cubed carrots that were probably fresh but evoked a bag of frozen veggies in their lack of variety....for $32. That's robbery. Our meal was $75-100 per person and it just wasn't the sort of exciting food that warrants that price tag.
Love Sips! Beautiful outdoor dining space, great food and service! One of our favorite go to places!
Sips is our favorite restaurant. The staff is top-notch, the food always delicious, and when the the owner, Monsieur Chaigneau , welcomes you to his restaurant you feel as though you are being welcomed to his home.
We had avocado toast as an appetizer. There is a layer of creamed avocado on top of the toast. On top of the avocado there are sliced cucumbers, crab meat, sliced radish, and some sprout. It's very delicious and light. The wait staff is very attentive. We enjoyed our quiet dinner.
On Sundays you can bring your own wine without corkage.
Amazing, as always.
Food was mediocre. It was served "assembled" not prepared with any kind of imagination whatsoever. Avocado toast was just sliced avocado with crab meat and pea sprouts on top. No seasoning..no sign of careful preparation. I liked my escargots and my husband liked the shrimp and grits, but that was about all. Very nice waiter.
No where NEAR French. Spent a lot, did not get a satisfying meal. Sad..
Excellent meal @ Sips, as per usual. A group of 3, we had the Fromage and the Fried Brussels Sprouts as appetizers. The Sweet chili sauce gave the sprouts an interesting slightly sweet finish. The cheeses were an interesting selection and very well presented. Entrees were Steak Frites, Crepes (with crab and shrimp filling) and Beef Bourguigon, all of which were very good. This is a very good Phoenixville restaurant.
The restaurant is distinctly French. The menu is diverse and there are also lots of wine choices. The food was very good and the service excellent.
The appetizer menu alone is enough to keep us coming back. The cocktails are amazing too, though, and then the patio is open it's the best spot in Phoenixville. I'd love if they would change up the menu more or offer more nightly specials.
Excellent service and food. A tad pricy
Excellent food and service! Mashed potatoes were on par with what my Irish grandmother used to make. We’ll definitely be back!
Great little place! Food was excellent and prices were reasonable- except for the wine which was a bit pricey. Shrimp and Grits was amazing as was the French onion soup. Will definitely visit again!
Great crab cakes. Varied menu. Parking lot is a nice bonus.
Crab cakes were phenomenal! Great old fashioned.
Great place to relax and great food and great dtinks.
Ate in the bar, great happy hour menu daily from 4:30-6:00. Oysters for $1, good selection of wine and cocktails. Very attentive service and an inviting atmosphere. We will definitely come back!
The ambiance was very relaxed, and all of the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was very flavorful, but could have been a little bit hotter when it arrived at the table. It was warm, but not hot (we did mention this to our server, who acknowledged our disappointment). We will definitely go back for another dinner.
Food and service are always good. They've just added an option to be able to "tip" the kitchen staff by buying them a round of beer for $12 - what a great idea!! Owner, Fabian, takes the time to get to know the regulars and make us feel welcome, each and every time!
Our server was kind and engaging, the food was good, and it was a great reprieve since I had been on day 2 of 4 without power at that point. It was a little on the pricey side, but we did have 2 cocktails each and split a dessert, in addition to our entrees. I'd return for the service and food but as a treat.
Sips is a great neighborhood gem in Phoenixville. Love their delicious Cocktails - Sips Margarita never disappoints. Great Beer selection and nice varied Menu. Exceptional, friendly service starting with the owner who goes out of his way to welcome each customer. The Sips salad was one of the most delicious I've had in years, fresh, simple & Yum! The Short Rib Grilled cheese hits the spot for our teenage son. The homemade soups, provencal mussels & nice selection of seasonal oysters are highlights we look forward too. Slightly off the beaten path but worth the trip.
My wife and I arrived on time and informed the hostess the other couple was delayed by a storm/power outage. We had a drink until they arrived, only to be told our reservation had been cancelled because we didn’t “check in”. (Which we had) They did find a table for us and dinner was excellent. I was told since my Opentable reservation had been cancelled, I’d have to rebook it in order to get points. Not sure if that has happened.
Overall, a minor glitch to an otherwise nice dinner.?
Didn’t know what expect. Took some colleagues and it turned out terrific food was very good, the service was excellent, and the location easy to find. I’ll be back!
The staff is very nice and always accommodating. Food is absolutley delicious.
You can't beat Sips on Sunday evenings. They have a BYOB policy and accept groupons too!
What a fabulous experience! The people were very friendly and the food was amazing! I am still dreaming about the Norwegian Benedict and cucumber Bloody Mary and trying to figure out how I can get back to Sips soon! (It is nearly an hour away from me, but I was meeting a friend who lives nearly an hour in the other direction.)
