Sinigual - NY Ratings and Reviews
Our server Lazaro was great—helpful and attentive but not too intrusive. Our food was excellent, perfectly spiced and cooked. Cocktails were delish (jalepeno margarita was a bit too sweet for me but we all loved our choices other than that one). The atmosphere is lively but also quiet enough to have a work conversation.
Checked in as per reservation and were seated promptly, the restaurant was not even 50% full when we arrived. Food was good, our server was also very good, they make the guacamole at your table, nice feature. The food was well presented and the flavour was good; desert on the other hand, was not. I ordered the Mexican flan and it was way too sweet to be edible, I brought this up to the attention of our server, who immediately offered to bring a different dessert, however, by then I really did not want more sweet, so I declined. I know NY is expensive, yet, this was an expensive meal for what it was.
While still at the restaurant, I received an email from Open Table, letting me know we had been reported as a 'no-show' by the restaurant, I brought this up to the attention of our hostess on the way out, but find it odd considering there was no line when we checked in, and we used the proper name and reservation.
I picked Sinigual for my birthday dinner with friends. I have been here before and fell in love with the place. When I made the reservation I specified it was for a birthday. Sadly, I was disappointed since it was my special day and there was no special dessert decoration like they did with other patrons.
Met a handful of former colleagues for drinks and dinner. Much better to drink there than to eat there. Food was stunningly lackluster, though not expensive. It's really tough to screw up Mexican food, but my meal was cold; my colleagues' meals were "just OK." Atmosphere is nice and service was solid, would not go back for food.
It was a busy Friday lunch time and while we were seated right away the servers were slow with drinks and food. That said the food was very good and worth the wait. Our two servers would either come straight after each other or were nowhere in sight. Overall though a pleasant experience.
I had lunch here with a friend and since the restaurant is large we had plenty of space. Despite being large it wasn't overly noisy so we were able to enjoy a good conversation. The food was delicious. I had the lobster quesadilla. It was very a substantial portion that came with a cup of soup and rice. Luckily it was so cold so this hearty meal really hit the spot!!! My friend had the chicken fajitas and it was very fresh and nicely prepared. I would definitely come back to this restaurant and if you are looking for something close to Grand Central this is a good spot!
This restaurant is gorgeous inside and the food is pretty good. During the time of my reservation, there was only like 5 other tables seated so it was a pretty quiet and nice evening. I did not have to wait for my table and was seated immediately. The staff was very attentive and nice. The food is pretty good too.
We had planned to have a leisurely family meal on NYE. Booking was for 1930 but disappointed to be told on arrival that the kitchen was closing at 2100 - when it was obvious they were preparing for a NYE party. Waiter tried to hurry our meal and took short cuts with our drinks order by claiming that complimentary chasers (as per the drinks menu) had already been added to our margaritas! Could not go back.
I was very excited to eat here at first, but the service was some of the worst I’ve had in nyc. We made a reservation for 10 people, the place was not packed by any means and it still took almost an hour for the waitress to take our food order. We were very respectful to our waitress of course, but all 10 of us were very disappointed with the establishment and how slow they move. The place also refused to divide the check in to more than one way and didn’t take more than 5 credit cards to pay so it was a mess trying to figure that out as well. Almost every respectable establishment can split up the checks..Maybe we just went on an off day... who knows.
Super disappointed- the food was ok. I would say Rosa Mexicano and Maya are way better overall than Sinigual. First, myself and guests were seated- we waited a bit for our waiter while other guests were seated at the table next to us. The guests who were seated after us were helped before us. While ordering, we requested to add slices of avocado to our meal and were informed that we could not pay additional to have slices of avocado added to our meal, but could instead get the avocado relish. The service was very slow. We waited for quite some time and requested to have our waiter come to our table so that we could order more drinks. The second round of drinks never came and we had to remind the waiter that we ordered them. We then requested the bill, waited some more and then had to find a different staff member to take our cards because our waiter did not come back for our check with our cards for 20 minutes. Again, there are so many other places worth the time and money. Don’t bother wasting yours there.
