Sinigual - NY Ratings and Reviews
I always bring my clients to Sinigual. The service is great; the food is fantastic; and the ambiance is wonderful. Although I wouldn't recommend it, I've arrived without a reservation (as many as six people) and been accommodated during the lunch hour. The guacamole made at the table is special!
We have been to this restaurant many times, usually at off times. This time it was busy, and the experience was very different. We had ordered an appetizer (guacamole), which was not served until the main course was brought out. The food was not the same quality as before - the presentation was sloppy and the food was lukewarm.
Also, the table next to us was a group, and other guests from the restaurant were standing around that booth, leaning on my seat, bumping into me. Overall not a good restaurant experience. The drinks are always pretty good, even though they are pricey.
Sinigual had no reservation for us. When I told them that we made it under Open Table, they shrugged their shoulders saying, they were not sure all that they knew is that they were not expecting us. I would return to Sinigual, I would NOT use Open Table again.
amazing food, service was a bit lacking. waited close to a half hour between ordering appetizers (one order of guacamole, highly recommended) and drinks, and ordering the main course. food quality and presentation was fantastic, lobster quesadilla is a nifty spin on a staple of Mexican cuisine. White wine sangria also was very good.
Went the day before Cinco de Mayo. They had margarita specials but the flavored ones were a little too sweet. We had a few drinks at the bar first and were seated promptly when it came time for our reservation. I had the stacked enchilada which was a little too creamy and sweet for my liking, but the chef made me a special habanero sauce that although took a long time to come out (I had to sit there and wait to eat), was excellent. The dessert order came out in super lightning speed. I hardly finished my meal before it was at our table. It could have been because they expected a large crowd pre and during Cinco de Mayo. Would go again just to see if I had the same experience.
Food was great, especially enjoyed the fresh guacamole tableside~ was excellent !
Our waiter was very good, attentive and made good suggestions~~~~ however the restaurant is run poorly with support of waiters, waitresses -- all we asked for was some chips, (nothing complicated for a Mexican rest.!)although 3 of the staff said, " sure"!! Nothing was brought, as they just walked around aimlessly in the restsurant -- finally tracked down our waiter & he brought the chips. Customer service is adequate---as is seen in other reviews as well:(
very good Mexican near Grand Central. The bar at the front was very noisy, so when we walked in we were afraid we would not be able to talk, but we sat closer to the back of the restaurant and the noise level was tolerable. We had a 6:00 reservation;when we arrived the service was quite attentive. However, as the evening wore on, they got busier and the service suffered. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks when they brought our entrees and we were halfway through them - eating slowly - before our 2nd drinks came.
I experienced Sinigual with 3 other adults for a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening at 8pm. The restaurant is very modern with a touch of Mexicana and immediately shows that you are in an above average restaurant. As far as decor, it was modern and the lighting is dim but not dark at all. That evening the restaurant was super empty and very quiet which we all enjoyed. Service was very fast and waiter was friendly. Food was super good to our surprise and enjoyment. I do think, Sinigual is a gem in Murray Hill because it brings some upscale vibe in the neighborhood and the food is excellent, again. I don't know how different this restaurant could be on a Friday evening at 6-7pm with a full bar, but I still highly recommend it.
Went to Sinigual for a BD dinner with a few freinds. It took 20 minutes to get 1 drink only to be told that the other 2 drinks needed to be made with a different vodka because they were out of Greygoose. We ordered white wine that was too warm to serve and had to be put on ice. We ordered the house special guacamole mediium spice and it had no spice at all. The rest of the food was good and tastey. When it came time to pay the bill we couldn't find the waitress to take the the check and process the credit card and had to give it to another server.
