Dined here with family for Sunday lunch. Husband had never been but I had on several occasions and raved about choice of starters and desserts. Imagine my disappointment to discover that starters was soup ( this was very tasty ) or a selection from salad bar which I would liken to a Harvester pub. There was no fruit salad for dessert which is remiss as after eating the main meal ( meat was delicious, vegetables mediocre ) a bowl of fruit is always a perfect end to meal for those that don't enjoy heavy desserts. The trifle looked a mess after a few portions had been served and cheese and biscuits looked OK. This was a special 40th wedding anniversary celebration but meal wasn't. Bring back the old starters and desserts!

We have been coming to the self serve Sunday lunch at Abbey Park for many, many years and until the last 5 months we've always enjoyed it and found it good value for money. There are usually 6 of us and without drinks we pay just over £100. Unfortunately this year the quality of the food has dramatically fallen from being an impressive display of a variety of well presented dishes containing good quality ingredients to a less than poor selection of foods out of a tin, out of a packet and pre made straight from the freezer. The waiting staff however have not changed. They are still very friendly, courteous and helpful so its a shame that due to the food being so bad, we will not be booking again. I do not think that the kitchen staff are to blame for the decline. There's only so much you can do with cheap ingredients. I suspect that The Abbey Park will lose some of their chefs and kitchen staff this year. True chefs wouldn't be proud of the food served during the Sunday lunch. It is not worth £16.99.

We dined at 6:45pm with a 2 year old. At 7:45pm no food had arrived. The waitresses were mostly friendly but not attentive and missed that we had not been served. At 8pm they rushed out our daughters pasta. 15 mins later our steaks arrived- over cooked. Very disappointed.

This was our second visit to the Bramblings and I have to say we were very disappointed. Our table was for 1pm so only 30mins after lunch service began and already food was running out and staff were slow to replenish the platters. Of the three meats being served the turkey was nice after waiting for a fresh one, the gammon was very salty and the beef very rare. In fact all of my family who opted to try the beef found that it was very difficult to cut and very chewy. The waitress/waiter service was poor and after waiting for 15 mins we opted to settle the bill rather than wait any longer for coffee. For a restaurant where bookings are necessary you would expect better organisation given that they know how many covers they will be serving that day. Suffice to say we won’t be going back!

Dreadful service, cold restaurant, unknowledgable staff, average food. Cocktails served on arrival were not proper cocktails and we had to ask several times.

I was stopping at the Abbey Hote with friends and chose the Bramblings Restaurant to eat. We had 20% voucher off food and drinks. We had 3 course dinner which was very tasty altho could have done with more vegetables. The staff were very helpful with my friends nyt allergy. We had a lovely night and spent 4 hours there and wasnt asked to leave even tho last ones there.

No seafood cocktails on buffet. Roast potatoes disappointing and broccoli was overcooked. Food was disappointing although apple crumble was lovely.
