The Courtyard offers a warm farmhouse feel in the heart of Northumberland. Situated in Pegswood, the historic building which dates back to early-1900s, sits on the main route to Longhirst, once a home of. “Old King Cole”. Steeped in history, and influenced by the bistros of rural Italy, The Courtyard is certainly a place to visit.

Matt Hudson, head chef, brings a wealth of experience and a stellar reputation, having made a significant impact in the culinary world with his exceptional talent. His innovative and flavourful dishes have not only delighted diners but also earned him numerous accolades.     Food gorgeous as usual. Service excellent, atmosphere lovely and welcoming. We visit the courtyard at least once a week and thoroughly enjoy whether its coffee and cake or a meal and pudding. Highly recommended

    Our first visit here. Love the decor and ambience. The staff were lovely. My chiken supreme was gorgeous. My husband had a minute steak, sadly it was tastless and chewy served with salad which consisted of lettuce alone. We will go back but not choose steak.

    First time here but definitely won’t be the last! We had soup which was delicious and well seasoned served with quality toast and a fruit scone which my husband said was the best scone he’d had in a long time! With a generous portion of jam (so often you get a stingy amount or a horrible little packet!). The Courtyard is a good half an hour drive but we’ll be back to sample the afternoon snack menu which looks delicious and has some lovely vegetarian options! Toilets immaculate! Service friendly and professional, Ellie (hope that’s correct) lovely

    As always everything was excellent only disappointment was White chocolate bread & butter pudding no longer on but the replacement white chocolate roulade did not disappoint. Keep the good work up guys

    Service was slow - we waited 40 minutes after ordering food for Sunday lunch. However, the lunch was very good. Would go back but prepare myself first the long wait. It got quite noisy at times also.

    Both my friend and I really enjoyed the Sunday lunch. I had pork which was lovely and tender, my friend had the lamb which he said was also tender and we both found the meal first class. We also had dessert both were lovely too. We both agreed we would go back. Service was prompt and friendly. Very reasonably priced.

    What a hidden gem. Food was fantastic, lovely place and the service was wonderful. All who served us were spot on, in particular Ellie (I hope I have your name right). She was professional and attentive without being too intrusive, just right..............and a real asset. Looking forward to coming back.
