From the OpenTable editors: Few places do Spanish food as well as this cozy Gramercy restaurant serving some of the city's best tapas since 2003. Star chef Andy Nusser makes the food he grew up eating in Spain, and dishes like garlicky razor clams, delicate bone marrow, and creamy scrambled eggs with uni have helped the restaurant score a MICHELIN star and a coveted three-star review from The New York Times.

This is a must visit in Manhattan. The Uni scrambled eggs are absolutely a must, as are the scallops.

Then when seated , my server barely came to the table . Just not the experience or service I always get. I took my 2 friends for the first time and there experience wasn’t the best .

The setting was lively and the service friendly. We ordered a selection of small plates: •Grilled Octopus – fresh and well-prepared, though not particularly memorable. •Crispy Pig Ear Salad – the surprise of the night! I’ve never had pig ear like this—crispy, savory, balanced by pickled peppers and cherry tomatoes. •Braised Goat Confit – beautifully plated and quite flavorful. •Roasted Bone Marrow with Toast – super rich and aromatic, though the toast was a bit too oily for my taste. •Seared Scallops – nicely cooked with a golden crust, but unfortunately one side was heavily salted, which threw off the balance. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a date night or special occasion. Some dishes wowed, others could use refinement.

I was so excited to eat at Casa Mono. I was almost skipping down the street, eager to dine in my old neighborhood from many years ago, when I first went to NYC to become a working actor and lived right around the corner. And having just read that Casa Mono was one of the top restaurants in NYC, just made the prospect of eating there even better. But alas, my dream of showing my partner my old stomping grounds became a lamentation of how poorly we were treated and how mediocre the food was (especially the pulpo, which was almost raw and had no flavor). The service was lackluster: no one seemed happy or even remotely proud of their most recent kudos from the NYTs. The only saving grace was the bone marrow, which was terrific. From the moment we walked in the door, we were made to feel unwelcome. There was no joy in that restaurant at all. Very strange. I've lived and worked around the world, and unfortunately, this place just doesn't cut it. No reason for folks to go out of their way to eat there. Advice. Live up to the hype. Be better at being nice to people. And cook the pulpo.

Hard to understand the favorable view of the restaurant. Any dish that required the hand of a chef was so underwhelming. The aspergas dish was a stand out for you have to be kidding. The only satisfactory item was the pata negra which only requires a carver.
