   We visited on Bank Holiday Monday for lunch. We received a warm welcome and very good service from the staff on duty. We ate in the bar area which is dog-friendly. The food was great! Would go back.

   Good food but clientele was bit mixed. Very well behaved children behind us. However others there were loud. Also dogs were allowed in the restaurant which was somewhat unexpected.

   We had a Sunday roast, portion size was good but meal was let down by being luke warm. Plates also cold that meal was served on. Had the dinner being hot then it would have been more enjoyable. Service was good.

   Excellent meal to celebrate 91st birthday! Delicious food and the cheesecake was amazing - served with chocolate shard, macaron, meringue and ice cream. Service was prompt and the serving staff were attentive and very lovely and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable lunch!

   I hate having to do this but I have eaten here twice in the last week so this must say you are doing something right but there was just a couple of niggling things I felt could be avoided. 1. Bank Holiday Friday. There were flowers on the table that were sitting in dirty water that were dead. Fresh flowers would have been a great improvement. 2. The outside tables were a disgrace, filthy. Passing walkers would just walk away. 3. One side of bar, full of empty dirty glasses, dirty dish cloth just left on bar. Not nice. Visit yesterday. The service was very very slow. No continuity. Tables cleared but no effort to take second dessert orders. Had to ask for cutlery to be replenished. I will still go. This is a lovely pub that could be greatly improved on. Food lovely but photo of dessert just sent that morning via mail had no resemblance to dessert ordered the very same day. Sorry, don’t let the above put you off, give it a go.
