we booked a table ages ago for a birthday. Food and staff were great. It was so rushed. We barely had a sip of a drink and starters arrived. As soon as they finished the main came.We barely had time to enjoy a drink etc. The bill wasn't cheap and we wanted to take our time but was in and out too quickly. I'm gutted we spent the money as should of had fish and chips for the time we were there.

Very good choice of dishes on the menu, we all enjoyed our meals. Tasty fresh fish and good portion sizes, no room for desserts !!

Food was outstanding. Highly recommended! Staff were efficient, friendly and although it was a busy night, watchful and attentive. There’s always one little thing when you dine out, but not here! Everything was great and the evening was completely pleasurable. My wife and I were hosting for my brother and sister in law who hadn’t visited Southwold before. They eat out frequently around the country and it was a moment of great pride to have them tell us how much they enjoyed the whole experience above any other. The Sail Loft is a Southwold treasure and we’ll be back…. A lot. Thank you. (The sunset was quite spectacular too…. 🤓)

Excellent food lovely restaurant. Only thing that spoiled it was arriving for an 8 pm reservation to be told that we must hurry up and order as the kitchen stops taking orders at 8 as if it was an inconvenience.

Both meals looked unappetising but the prawn and lobster bisque risotto was inedible it hadn’t seen any lobster and the prawns were black and hard , hard to believe any chef would send it from the kitchen. My husband had the smoked haddock chowder, although he said it was ok it looked grey. To top it all we had to listen to the staffs life history while they talked amongst themselves !

We had a great time at the sail loft there was lots of choice on the menu with a wide variety of foods including vegetarian and gluten free. The service was great and very welcoming, there was a good atmosphere throughout the place. The only thing I would say is that the meals are not always well balanced. I had falafel with roasted vegetables. There were so many onions in the roast veg and only 4 pieces of other veg. Then it was accompanied by a salad that included even more red onions. I like onions but this was a total overload. Other than this we loved it!
