Welcome to Petronella.

Our charming restaurant, located along the romantic allure of the Butterslip Lane, serves wonderful Irish food with warm and friendly service.

We serve Brunch and Dinner from Tuesday to Saturday or come and try Petronella's famous Sunday Roast.

Located on the medieval Butterslip Lane, Petronella, just like her namesake, has an illustrious past, located in one of Kilkenny's oldest and historic buildings. The restaurant pays homage to Petronella, the first woman accused of witchcraft in Ireland and the first woman in Europe to be executed by burning at the stake, just a few steps from our door.

Disappointed as we expected a top class experience. It’s an ok bistro but not somewhere for a special occasion: table not ready on arrival, tried to seat us beside the table, brought the wrong wine, poorly ventilated.

Were seated by bussers station, even though stated in reservation it was anniversary celebration. They moved us to a nice table. Food was okay, nothing special. Service was only fair, took 15 minutes to get water. Had to flag down server. Wine came after appetizer. Probably would not return or recommend

Lovely dining experience with great service. The food was really really good and presented very well all down to the coffee which was great!

Enjoyed the experience, food was great, service was great. Noise level was well above 'Energetic'!!! Don't know what you could do to improve the situation but I could barely hear my fellow guest on a table of two!! This could be a problem, but we were in great form and the staff were great. Thanks

Best sandwich we had in Ireland over 12 days(the chicken and the ham). Cottage pie was great as well. Great find on Butter Slip! The history of name is really interesting as well.
