About this restaurant

Welcome to our famous wood panelled dining room where you can enjoy a variety of dishes, inspired by a love of modern British food, the menus are built with a unique variety using the best quality produce & ingredients, much of which is locally sourced.

Our Set menu menu is served Monday to Friday 12pm - 5pm with evening service from 6pm until 8.30pm and Saturday 12pm-2.30pm.
Our table D'hote is served Saturday between 6pm - 8.30pm. Our beautifully crafted A La Carte menu is served every day . Our famous Sunday lunch service is from 12pm-7pm..

We welcome children aged 5 and over.

For tables of 10 and over, we require a £10 per person non refundable deposit. Tables are only confirmed once the deposit has been received.

For tables over our festive period, we will require a deposit for tables over 6 people.

We will also only issue one bill on the evening for large parties.

Whilst we will do our best, we cannot guarantee a window table upon booking.

    The experience of dining at Kingsway is always a pleasant one but I have to say the food was very average, not bad but no vow factors! Had better meals in many places but the ambience takes some beating.

    It’s a while since I ate at the Kingsway and I was really looking for to Sunday lunch. Although it has acquired a fourth star since my last visit, I noticed very little difference beyond new carpets in the lounges and dining room. The Sunday lunch itself was good. Well prepared and presented. And tasty. But everything was let down by the very poor service. From sitting down at our table until the main course was served took around 70 minutes. When we asked why the meal was so slow coming we received an apology and an explanation that there was a staff shortage. But when we subsequently mentioned this to the Restaurant Manager, we were told this was no excuse. Things only got worse when menus were produced so we could choose dessert. While my companion was given the correct menu, mine was months out of date - with different restaurant opening times and very different dessert offerings. I pointed this out but received neither explanation nor apology. Frankly, I struggle to see how the hotel managed to gain an extra star. I simply hope for the sake of future diners that this was an off day.

    As ever everything was excellent with the exception of the service. It was a little slow but the staff did apologise and explained they had a staffing issue that day but they did do their very best. It was just a one-off as normally the service is excellent.

    We had a lovely afternoon celebrating our friend's 70th birthday. Beautiful food & wonderful service by all the staff concerned. Away from the madding crowds for Armed Forces Day but we still felt part of it as we had a great view. We shall be back!
