For more than two centuries, McFarland House has stood as a monument to the impeccable demeanor, good taste and gracious living that epitomizes Niagara-on-the-Lake. Built at the turn of the 19th century by Scotsman John McFarland, the home was used as a military hospital during the War of 1812 by both the Americans and the British.
Now home to a glass-enclosed tea room serving freshly baked scones and delicate desserts with traditional afternoon tea or enjoy an array of luncheon options.

The tea room was lovely and the server was courteous, friendly, efficient and amazing. The atmosphere is very relaxing with appropriate music playing softly in the background. There is an impressive selection of tea and the selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts was very nice. It was nice that everyone was in period costume. We went on the tour after our tea. The tour was excellent and it further enhanced our experience. Excellent.

Had afternoon tea at McFarland House. Wide selection of teas, I had Bourbon Vanilla, it was delish. The assortment of sandwiches good, tasty. The scones were a bit dry, but we finished the 3 tier tray for two. Staff are so friendly and attentive. A delightful experience and I recommend for the full tea. Price was good.

This was our first experience at afternoon tea and it was amazing! The staff are so friendly and kind, the food was delicious and tea always available and tasted so good!

We arrived a few minutes before our seating. However, the greeter promptly took us to our table and gave us menus. We opted for the afternoon tea. We perused the menu of teas and settled on Windsor and Earl Grey teas. Shortly our teas arrived and subsequently the 3-tiered serving stand with savory and sweet items. The savory items were mostly on the bottom tier. Scones were on the middle tier and sweet items were on the top tier. Everything was delicious and tasted well. I find them serving tea in a french press is unacceptable. Tea should be served in a tea pot.

We have enjoyed afternoon tea at McGarland House numerous times. Each time it is an exceptional experience. The ambience is quaint and restful. The food it’s always deliciously fresh and expertly presented. Service is friendly and attentive! We highly recommend!

This is our second year of going for a Nanny-grandaughter-daughter-in-law high tea and it didn't fail to exceed our expectations. The team working there are kind, patient and funny. They all celebrate the high tea experience and make it extra special for all of us. My 11 year old daughter loves the special tea pot and luckily it was available which made her feel even more thrilled to go to the McFarland House. Our tea was a fabulous assortment of sandwiches, scones and desserts....love that it isn't the same menu as last year! We will definitely go back next year for another family celebration.
