    There were several birthdays this past weekend. The staff was attentive to each one that I saw, including my own table. The food and drink were both well presented and delicious. My entire party loved the whole dining experience. I love that Josephine’s has consistently been an excellent experience each and every time I have dined there. This past reservation was no exception.

    The restaurant is lovely and we were delighted with the traditional French dishes we ordered. (Beef tartare, Lyonnaise salad, steak frites and duck confit.) The gluten-free menu was so appreciated. My husband can’t eat gluten, so I won’t have to twist his arm to come back again. The wine selection was good, although the bottle we ordered didn’t arrive until we were almost done with our appetizers. Overall, though, we loved it.

    I made a reservation at Josephine based on the recommendation of one person in our party, who had eaten here before and knew they had a gluten free menu. (Suggestion: put the GF menu on your website!) We were celebrating 3 birthdays in our party of 5, so I had called ahead to confirm it was OK to bring a bakery cake as part of our celebration. No issue there. Shortly after we were seated, the general manager came by and identified himself - a nice touch I don't often come across in restaurants. Our server was good, if a little distracted by the busy room (took a while to order our drinks once we were seated). We were in the large room upstairs, with a window facing the street. It was bustling and fairly loud. The food we ordered was good, well-prepared. Cocktails were good, though the mocktails weren't as well-received (you order a "profile" such as "sweet" & it's bartender's choice unless you have a specific flavor request). Once a few of the tables around us had cleared, the staff set up a table for 12 adjacent to ours. The dozen women seated there were extremely loud (I could repeat entire conversations, names, how they knew each other, etc., etc.), making it difficult to even converse and greatly distressing one in our party with noise sensitivity - who even tried ear plugs, to no avail. Unfortunately we had to make the decision to finish up our meal and leave, taking our celebratory birthday cake with us. The general manager came by once I notified the server that we needed to leave, and offered to put a note in my Open Table file for a quieter location next time. The server promptly brought the check & offered birthday wishes as she was returning the cake. All this is to say the staff did display their concern, though there really wasn't much else they could do at that moment. A very unfortunate situation to already be seated & in the middle of our meal then have a party of 12 set up right next to us. Hoping to try another (quiet) time

    The server runs his fingers through his hair and then handles my drink glasses, silverware, napkins etc. The Spanish lady cleaning the table uses a cloth to swat the flies and with the same cloth she proceeds to wash the table with it. The red head brings out the dishes and places them on the table, notices the dead flies on the floor and never comes back to sweep them up. The guy continues to pressure us to order something. The Spanish lady comes back with a bunch of clean silverware that she drops on the next table and makes a very loud clanging noise. We paid our check, talked with the manager and refused to stay. I hope they clean that place up.
