Modern Vineyard Cuisine inspired by our Indigenous roots. We proudly sit on the traditional land of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation. Our inspiration for the name of our new signature restaurant comes from a chaptik story passed down through the generations of our First Nations people of the Okanagan.
The Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation approach to food is based on the creation stories of their culture and we’ve taken their stories as the inspiration for the name of our restaurant: “The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry,” based on the story of the Four Food Chiefs.
The Four Food Chiefs are central: Skimxist Black Bear (chief of animals, representing self-sacrifice, leadership, giving), Ntytikxw Chinook Salmon (water creatures, perseverance, hard work), Speetlum Bitterroot (plants below the round, relationships to the land) and Seeya Saskatoon Berry (plants above ground, growth, strength, community) are legendary and the elements of indigenous cuisine.

One of the most amazing diners we have had in such a long time! Kudos to the amazing staff. They flawlessly looked after a packed restaurant without a hiccup! We will definitely be going back in the near future! Thank you very much for making my wife’s and my anniversary special!

We absolutely loved this restaurant! It was our anniversary and after being seated we were greeted with glasses of champagne(bubbly). Our waiter(RD) was the sweetest and most knowledge staff member that we have come across. We started with the fry bread and it was amazing with the fresh blueberry compote. Our mains were the lingcod and filet. This was a beautiful presentation of food but also not fancy or pretentious. It is a nice location but on a super hot night you may want to sit inside. We will be back!

We had a delicious meal. Our server, and all of the staff were very friendly. This is a beautiful location to have dinner and sample some great local wines.

Lovely venue and atmosphere, and nice place to sit outside for drinks but food overrated. Considering the menu is very small they had run out of ribs. We had the steak which was served luke warm with a random selection of veg thrown on the plate. The steak was accompanied by ‘duck fat’ potatoes but they were simply baby potatoes. Pork belly was a very small portion with bits of popcorn on it for decoration. Save your money and just come for a drink.

When this restaurant opened up both the food and service were practically perfect. We went last night and unfortunately it seems they’ve lost their way. We ordered an appie and cocktails to start and our mains were brought out and placed on our table just a couple of minutes after we began eating with more than half our appies and drinks left. The server didn't return to check in until we finally flagged him down almost 20 minutes later. My wife had asked for her salmon rare and it was completely cooked well and dry throughout. I ordered the ribs and while the portion was very generous the ribs were bland and the bbq sauce tasted bottled. The duck fat potatoes were half cooked and lacked any flavour. We both ordered glasses of wine for our mains and my wife’s came first while mine came out 10 minutes later. Once we finished dinner the waiter came back and removed my plate and left my wife’s plate on the table empty for another 20 minutes. The manager on hand finally came to collect it. When we finally got the bill he left us with the debit machine and walked away again. I had to do the servers job and process my own transaction and print the receipts for him. $300 later we left highly disappointed never to return.
