Sinema occupies the old Melrose Theater space and the transformation is fabulous, both in creating a new dining space and in preserving the theater atmosphere. Our party has dined there twice, once for dinner and recently for brunch. The food is mediocre and served in a very unappealing way. At brunch all six of our party preferred the A la Carte menu rather than the buffet. I ordered the short rib hash and it was so salty that I chose not to eat the meat. The omelet that one of our party ordered arrived on a plate without any sides or embellishments with the edges of the plate smeared with food. The hash cost $18, by the way. Our server was clearly not invested in her job and provided the least amount of service possible.
Go to Sinema to relive your memories of the old theater, but dine somewhere else.
The staff was beyond amazing and extremely attentive. Food was delicious
Such a great brunch spread and at such a great value!!!
Great place to have brunch for a special occasion.
Coffee was absolutely horrible. For $4/cup I’d expect a local high end roaster. I ordered two cups to make sure it wasn’t just a burned pot. Food was solid. Service was so so. It took 10-15 minutes to get a water refill. Mimosa pour was about 3oz and we didn’t get bottomless.. but were charged for it (server then took it off). For $50 a head I don’t think it’s worth it.
Friends and I went to brunch for bottomless mimosas. Server kept the mimosas flowing and the food was great
The Sinema is an awesome experience if you’re looking for an all-you-can-eat brunch option! An old movie theatre from the 50’s turned into a restaurant, it has some really cool charm and history that you don’t get in a normal brunch spot. The brunch itself was good - smaller portions which allowed you to try more things. They also have all-you-can-drink mimosas and bloody Mary’s, which we didn’t take advantage of but looked incredible. The staff was very attentive. I know this is going to sound strange, but the bathroom is AMAZING! It was voted the number 1 bathroom in Nashville.... make sure you check it out if you go! Lol
We decided to brunch one last time before our newest addition made their appearance. I’ve heard fun things about Sinema so that’s what we picked.
We had 10am reservation for Sunday morning and had to wait for the doors to open. Parking isn’t the easiest thing since there are a lot of restaurants in that little strip center but we managed to find something after a few minutes of searching. Valet wasn’t set up but even so, it was $7 and I just can’t bare to pay for parking.
I was a little irritated since we were seated upstairs and I was clearly very pregnant and struggled up the stairs as we were being seated.
Majority of all the food was downstairs so I filled my plates as much as I could so I didn’t have to make too many trips. They had the option of eggs, bacon, sausage and some pressed hot sandwiches in the main room. In the entrance to the restaurant they had biscuits with gravy, hot chicken, fruits, and a wide variety of pastries. They had plenty of food and everything we had was good. None of the food was piping hot, but I guess that’s to be expected with a buffet. My husband ordered a chilaquiles from the kitchen and he said it was very good. I had a waffle to finish off and it was again just warm sitting under a heat lamp and was soft.
Service was good. Food was good.
Food was mediocre. Soup wasn’t hot. Overall disappointed.
Consistently good! That’s all you can ask
This was our first time dining at Sinema and it was fabulous! The food was great and the atmosphere is very unique and impressive. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Nashville.
Service was outstanding. Elizabeth was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. I especially appreciated that our party was moved— no fuss, no questions— when we said the noise level was too high at our first location. Moving to a padded back seat— and having the music volume turned down— really helped. Thank you!
It's a Hollywood like ambience and a different experience for buffet. I would recommend it for a bachelorette party.😊
Unique space. Lots of choices on the brunch menu. Good food.
Wonderful place for brunch. Food choices were excellent and Service was top notch. The ambiance was super cool and retro. Highly recommended
Really cool spot. Old converted movie theatre. Food was pretty good. Drinks were excellent. Really only had one problem and that was the service. Waited 15 minutes for a waiter to come over to our table. After getting our first drink he disappeared again for a long time. At a place where half of the menu is a do it yourself buffet and you serve bottomless mimosas the service to refill drinks shouldn't be that big of a concern. It also was not crowded. Because of the long waits in-between drinks we felt we didn't get the value for what we were paying. I would check it out again but would stay on top of the waiter. Since we all got our own food from the buffet the only thing we needed the wait staff for was the drinks and it just made for a little bit of a frustrating and disappointing first experience.
First time there. Loved the vibe of the place. Food was good overall. Endless Bloody Mary bar was good. I’ve had better Bloody Marys but it competes especially since its endless.
Eggs bacon and sausage were good the waffles good as well. It’s a special occasion place for sure.
Absolutely fabulous, the food was beautiful as well as delicious. If I lived in Nashville I would dine here often.
And our server, Rebecca was great!
We hadn't been at Sinema for a couple of years and were pleasantly surprised by changes in the cuisine. Not sure whether this is a change of Chef but dishes were innovative, complex and very tasty. Service was perfect, attentive and timely. We ate at the upper level of the building and it was quiet enough to easily maintain a conversation. Wine list was a bit "pricey" and overall prices were a bit higher than what we consider the "average" for restaurants with this level of quality. Nonetheless, a very good experience for the five of us, including one child and one teenager.
Food was disappointing. It lacked the refinement sought for in fine dinning. The cioppino lacked broth, kind of the point to a cioppino. The corzetti had no sauce or anything to bring the dish together. The zeppelin was a heavy cross between pumpkin bread and pie filling that was too heavy to pair with crab and greens.
The Manhattan and atmosphere were wonderful. Just stop in for a drink and a cheese board and you do nicely. The chef seems to be lacking some finesse.
Cool hip place, good food. Very tight seating and hard to get around.
Best vibe in Nashville for a chill date. The upstairs lounge is where its at.
Outstanding Brunch, great service, food was varied and uniformly excellent. Don’t miss this brunch if you are In Nashville on a Sunday morning!
Food was unbelievable, bottomless brunch is worth the money. Great variety and staff is super accommodating. Would definitely go back.
Amazing food. So many delicious options! Very cool vibe.
Went there to celebrate my birthday. Love breakfast food and this place did not disappoint! The concept was fun, with the breakfast stations. The drinks were good, both mimosas and bloody marys. I’m trying to come up with my next reason to come back and celebrate something else with brunch here.
Good good. Waiter was forgetful but nice
Very cool atmosphere, great brunch menu with build your bloody Marie’s! Great place that we will be back to
The food was quite good and the ambiance of being an old theatre was really interesting. The wait for our food was longer than I would expect. If you aren’t in a hurry, it is a wonderful time. The waiter was very helpful. Besides the long wait to receive your food after ordering the only other complaint I would mention is the mixed drinks weren’t worth the 14.00 price. I’ve lived in Nashville, and other large cities and for a 14.00 mixed drink I would expect it better.
We really like sinema. Wish I could have given 5 stars but the disorganization of seating, time to be seated, and having to wait continually for food ( fried chicken, strawberries, biscuits) to be brought out was very annoying and showed verrry poor management.
I had ben looking forward for this adventure for months. The set up was amazing and the concept ison point. But the food was cold except for the fried chicken and gravy. I wanted to experience everything, so I ordered the bottomless. The potatoes had no warmth to them at all. It was difficult to taste the seasoning because it was that cold. The fried chicken was amazing and HOT. The vegetarian gravy was over the top. The waffles were cold. I got the Mexican egg--which was runny and the stuff underneath the egg was unappealing and cold. The crepe was very good, The French toast has just bland. Overall,
it was not a good experience and especially for the price
I loved the ambiance, and the decor. Our Waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. The food service was very delayed (they comp'd dessert) and the Corzetti which 2 of us ordered was not what we expected. The corzetti pasta was dry and chewy. The menu mentioned butternut squash and ricotta and there was very little of it -- we asked for more ricotta.
The food was poor in quality. The fried chicken had no taste. The waffle bar was good.
I was celebrating a great occasion and the restaurant was phenomenal! The food was great and the movie selections for the time we were there were hilarious! Our server was likely overwhelmed yet he made it through just fine. I have been for Happy Hour but never for brunch. I am glad I decide to host on Sunday!
It was fair. We sat upstairs and I sat on the sofa and it was uncomfortable. It sat low compared to the table and I had to stack a bunch of pillows against my back.
The carpet on the stairs was dirty and looked as thought they had not been swept or vacuumed lately. It was an average experience. Maybe I had my hopes sets too high since you need reservations for brunch and all.
Yes, just don't order the buffet. Service is very good.
Went to the restaurant expecting to have a great brunch with a good friend, well it was totally different from that! This was my first time at the restaurant, and I was excited! Soon as I went, the hostess told me “I let your party know that you can only sit here for a hour and a half because we have a party of 7 coming in”. I was shocked! I had made my reservation through Open Table earlier during the week and was wanting to have a great brunch experience! I requested a booth but could have been told once booking the reservation that getting a booth would depend on the time you came. At that moment, I just wanted to leave but my friend had came just to go to this restaurant! It was both of our first time here, and now I never want to return! It was unbelievable as I asked my waiter if we could go ahead and move because after an hour and a half I was not going to get up. I felt rushed! The hostess then came back over stating “if it helps, we tell everyone they have a hour and a half for their visit”. Honestly, I have NEVER been to any restaurant that told me and my friend we’re on a time limit. The only good thing about this was my waiter was nice and mimosas were good. Service from walking in however, terrible! Never will I recommend to anyone!
This place is really a nice setting, it is an old cinema, with movie star pictures lining the walls. The booths have tall backs so it is private and not loud. Our group of 5 women enjoyed our food very much. Just know that the drinks are very expensive so it changes this 2 star for price to a 4 star if you have a couple drinks. We were celebrating a 60th birthday and the dessert was NOT free, I found that very cheap on their part considering we were all having drinks, some had coffee after dinner or an after dinner drink, appetizers, full meals, etc., but they did not provide a free dessert for a b-day! They did put a candle in it. Their drink menu is a bit odd with weird drinks and the waiter didn't know anything about alcohol, so it took a long time for us to decide on drinks, and then they were out of the beer my friend ordered. The waiter never brought her second choice, so we stopped a different waiter and he said that drink menu we had was 'old'. The food was very tasty, though!
Awesome place and food!
