As always we had a wonderful experience at Simpson’s. Food was delicious, staff was attentive. Great for large group dinners. Highly recommend.
I had the Prime Rib special which was excellent. The beef was very tender and done exactly how I liked it. Vegetable tasted like fresh picked. The house salad was very good and the bread pudding for desert was the best ever! All in all my diet may have suffered but I left very happy. Simpsons is a great place for a nice quiet dinner.
Tracy our server was awesome. The food was fabulous. We will be back to see her soon.
We've gone to Simpson's for many of our special occasions with large groups as well as Sunday brunch and family dinners. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive and the food is always spot on. The menu is excellent and we've never been disappointed with the chef specials. Their ability impaired access is excellent too, easy to drop off at the front entrance under cover and not far from the main entrance. Would highly recommend!
The food was great!! Our waitress seemed more bothered like us being there was problematic. That was the only part that was not enjoyable.
When we arrived we were seated at a table for four in the middle of the room. Myself, my mom and my sister are all, shall we say, "vertically challenged", and the chairs were so low that we all felt we were sitting in a hole. When we asked the hostess if we could move to a booth, which would be more comfortable for us, we were basically told no and that they would get pillows for us. We thought they would be regular chair pads.... no, they were bed pillows! Yes, actual big, white bed pillows. My mom was so embarrassed that she was ready to walk out. We have spent the last few years spending our New Years eve at Simpson's and have never been treated that way. Also the lobster bisque was too salty and the lobster chewy and tough. While the main meal was okay, after the "pillow incident" it just put a damper on the rest of the evening. I'm afraid we'll be going someplace else next New Years eve......
Christmas Eve, prix fixe, seemed like a nice option, but I couldn't tell by the taste that my lamb was really lamb
We always enjoy dining at Simpson' s in the Desmond. The food is great, the seating is comfortable and the service has always been excellent. It's a great place for a special occasion or just a night when you want to have a great dinner experience.
Delishous and huge amount of food. Service was fabulous... mimosas was the perfect touch with our brunch. Prices were wonderful.Very festively decorated for Christmas !
We will be back more often!
Quaint place. Food delicious
The food was excellent and the service was OK but they did not have the reservation when we got there. So it took them some time to set up a table for 10. But we will go back
Loved the "welcome" by the hostess, wait staff and the manager. Food was good as usual and the service was great. Thanks for another wonderful meal. :)
Need to focus on food and service . Did not enjoy it and would not recommend having dinner there
Had the grilled swordfish which was excellent. Perfectly cooked. Moose and flavorful. Being from NYC I was skeptical of the kind of meal I could expect but was happily surprised at the quality of the food. Excellent.
Had another great dinner at Simpson’s. It was a Friday night so I took advantage of the prime rib special. It was delicious. The service by Deb was outstanding. I will be back.
We est here often & it is always consistent.
Good for a nice quiet & good dinner.
Best prime rib dinner I have had in years.
Will be back soon.
Guest and myself had not seen each other in many years and decided Simpson's would be a perfect fit to meet and enjoy a quiet lunch with lots of reminiscing. Everyone was pleasant and efficient and we enjoyed a lovely salad with fruit, which was delightful. We were well taken care of and left to visit for two hours.
Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
The food at Simpson's was good, though I thought the menu was somewhat limited. I had a fish dish topped with crab, which was nicely prepared. If you're looking for an extensive wine list, you'll have to go elsewhere.
As usual Simpsons never disappoints! (Other than a group of semi well behaved soft ball players, very entertaining) went for the prime rib special on Friday night,
Consistently superb! The best service and out if this world, not to be missed prime rib!
Food not up to past experiences. Ribs and baked beans were both much too dry. Service was good
Dining staff was exceptional & food was prepared exactly as we requested. I have had dinner here many times & always looking forward to my next visit.
Come here for Prime Rib Fridays. Amazing value for money and the staff has been there forever and really personable.
Another wonderful meal at this gem at the Desmond. We know it has the best prime rib (Fridays only) but being Saturday, we tried the seafood offerings. The halibut, sole en papillote, and swordfish au poivre were all exquisite in both presentation and taste! Don’t pass on dessert - delicious!
We had the Valentine's Day special. It was beautifully prepared and presented.
The food was very good with a nice variety. The service was excellent.
Not real impressed, the server was super busy and they were understaffed. The drink was a bit weak and the place was pricey. $61 for prime rib, a drink and glass of wine, for one.
My son really enjoyed the chicken carbonara. My filet mignon was delicious and it was so tender I could have cut it with my fork.
Consistently superb!!!!! Best prime rib in the world! My niece and her friends comes all the way from Ithaca just for the prime rib- done this twice!!!!!
Unfortunately the food we ordered was not good at all. We both ordered the Filet Of Beef and it was a overcooked and there was no flavor at all. No seasoning on the meat, potatoes or asparagus. The potatoes were dry and tasteless. The overall presentation was beautiful, but the execution on the cook of the food I’m sorry to say was horrible. I expected way better food for the $32 a plate meal.
I just love coming to Simpson’s! It is our “go to” upscale restaurant! The food is always great and the service is wonderful! What a terrific staff!
Excellent food, great service. Very low noise - the app registered higher noise and it can't be changed to lower.
This is one of our favorite restaurants but on Friday night at 7:30, it took almost 20 minutes for someone to take our order. We were greeted with, "I hope that you aren't here for the Prime Rib." In fact, three of us were. We ordered something different. Not a problem. My daughter's meal was so over-cheesed that she couldn't eat it and ordered a salad at the end of our meal. The salad took many minutes to come out and by that time, it wasn't a full dining room. We weren't charged for her cheesy meal. I ordered a steak and the waitress ordered me a filet. Not a problem. I ate it because I didn't want to wait for another meal to come out. My son and I didn't want to return our filets that weren't cooked well because again, we didn't want to wait. My husband's meal was fine. The next morning, my daughter had stomach issues. Not sure which meal bothered her but the whole day was not pleasant for her and she was here visiting. Overall, not a good experience but generally, it is.
Simpsons Grill is my favorite restaurant. Love the atmosphere and the food never disappoints. The Prime Rib on Friday night is a must if you haven't yet tried it.
We really enjoy the Friday night prime rib special. Delicious meal and excellent service.
One word! Spectacular! Prime rib is the best in the world!!! We have family and friends who travel hundreds of miles for Prime Rib Fridays!!!!!
We had excellent, innovative dishes served in a timely manner at Simpsons and it wasn't that expensive, considering that it's housed in the Desmond. Some of the breakfasts were really blow-your-socks-off kind of good. Server was very good too.
The best prime rib bar none and I have dined in restaurants globally!
We had another fine dining experience at Simpson's this past Saturday evening. The service was friendly and professional and the food was very good. The surprising part is that this is a hotel dining room that is open for three meals a day. It must be very tough to staff an operation like this but still produce a dining experience that is better than many stand-alone restaurants in the area. Yes, we have had one or two meals here that were not the greatest (fish is sometimes this kitchen's downfall). But the majority of the time it is a great meal with service that is well above other restaurants in the area. And we can tell that we are not the only ones who enjoy this restaurant. Almost every time we are there, we see familiar faces who are routine customers--and just not there for a special occasion. We do miss the elegance of the Scrimshaw, but as long as Simpson's keeps performing as it has in the recent past, we will continue as regulars.
