Simpson's In The Strand
Guests can also enjoy classic cocktails in Knight’s Bar, an art deco cocktail lounge located on the first floor. It is the perfect place to enjoy either a pre-dinner cocktail or after-dinner aperitif.
My wife and I have dined/lunched here on several occasions, this time we went with three other couples who had not been before. It was unanimous that this was an unforgettable experience especially since we were seated at Churchills table.
Food great, surroundings excellent, BUT, booth table is a bit tight for four men. Would prefer round table next time.
My monkfish was dry as dust. The steak tartare was flavourless. It was awful. Pretty room.
Outstanding roast beef
Never fails to impress
and excellent waiting staff
We were there on Sunday evening at 7.30 with friends and were disappointed this time as when we got there everything was perfect we had lovely starter then main course ( during our main course a lady came up to us and said she would be looking after us now ) ....... but that was last we saw of her we were not offered dessert or tea/coffee we waited a half hour and asked someone for our bill they came bk with 4 pieces of fudge we paid and left
Completely different experience to last time we were there very dissapointed
We try and go to Simpson's once a month, it never fails to hit all the buttons, you won't find better roast beef
Lovely restaurant. Perfect for a special occasion. Possibly the most expensive Sunday roast I’ve had in my life but you do get what you pay for. We ran out of time for the table and our bill was transferred upstairs to the bar without fuss. Will be back.
We like it for Sunday lunch. Probably the best roast beef in London and maybe the entire UK. I haven’t tried every restaurant but I’ve tried enough to know that Simpson’s is superb in every way. Chop house atmosphere as chop houses used to be, and service the same. An all-round treat
Our experience on Sunday was spoiled because of the totally unnecessary pianist, made worse by her attempt at singing. You could not carry on a conversation because everyone had to raise their voices to be heard above her. We had 15 minutes of peace when she had a break. There was a lively atmosphere as it was busy, so why spoil it for everyone.
Nice traditional venue. Friendly, attentive staff. Starters good. Mains underwhelming. Didnt bother with dessert/coffee.
Great food in a traditional English Resteraunt - top class
Birthday get together. We opted for the Beef from the carving trolly the meat was cooked as it should be and melted in the mouth.
The service was good but despite being asked if we had attended before (which my husband & I have) our guest hadn’t, instead of the waiter addressing them & telling them the history etc he addressed me which was a shame as it was busy and they struggled to hear him.
We opted for no desert but as we where celebrating 3birthdays ice cream was presented with birthday wishes decorating it. This was a lovely touch - thank you
We can highly recommend Simpson’s.
A British institution which is all you expect. Make sure you have the roast. It’s the reason you go to Simpson’s and you won’t be disappointed.
Lovely food and location. Service was also excellent. I had the banana champagne 🥂 Cocktail which was marvellous. The baked Alaska was also lovely 😊.
Was my first time in this beautiful restaurant. The food was fabulous the service also. Thanks.
My partner and I ordered the 38 day aged Sirloin steak and the duck breast and we were blown away by the intensity of the flavours. The staff was very attentive and helpful and we really enjoyed the live music.
Excellent as ever ! Took my daughter’s for the first time both very impressed, looking forward to our next visit ( Sam the waiter was great )
The meal was very good, the roast beef was particularly good. It was served with roast potatoes, cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding. it was very well cooked. a good bottle of red to wash it down.
My friend and I really enjoyed our first experience at Simpson's. The food was delicious and very british, the staff was attentive and the venue is great and old-fashioned (in a positive way!). If you want to travel back in time that's the place to go! I recommend it for a special occasion as it's quite expensive but it's worth the experience.
Simple English food at its very best. Steak and kidney pie flavours, pastry, tenderness faultless. Duck terrine wonderful texture and flavours. Service and ambience excellent. It doesn’t get better.
Excellence is not cooking the most spectacular dish once. It’s about cooking the same dish every day faultlessly and perfectly. Well done.
Better for the idea of Simpson's than for the thing itself. A lovely room, but noisy, with silly canned music after 10pm. The food is good to excellent. Beetroot starter was superb, as was the rice pudding dessert. The main (roast beef from the cart) was good, but not very flavorful and very full of fat and gristle that had to be cut away. Not enough gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was really a popover--and was burnt; a real failure. Service was kind but uneven. As is usual in London these days, once the main arrived, the service just about disappeared.
An excellent venue, well looked after and some excellent food.
The dining room is gorgeous, and the menu extremely tempting. I went for lighter dishes, starting with the crab, and then veal sweatbreads. Both were very good, although the prices are steep. A great place for an occasion, although the room was a little chilly when I was there.
In the words of Tina Turner, Simpson's is simply the best in all respects - especially the roast beef. An oasis of civilised ambience in the hustle and bustle of London. I look forward to my next visit.
As always lunch at Simpson's is an outstanding experience. From the pre-prandial Whisky Sour in the bar to Oysters in the main restaurant followed by an extensive choice from the Starter and Main Menu, the atmosphere is quite delightful.
My partner and I decided to let the sommelier choose our wines (by the glass) for the starter, main course and dessert and in all cases the most admirable and apposite selections were made.
Not cheap but not only is the ambiance, food and service exemplary but one is seated in a restaurant with significant history associated with it. We will, of course, be back.
Excellent venue, very English and steeped in history. Friendly and attentive staff without being overbearing.
First class bread made on the premises!
Only one criticism- the roast potatoes were disappointing
Excelente ambiente y calidad de comida, nunca decepciona
Outstanding. Timeless. This is a great place to enjoy traditional British food.
A wonderful dinner. Great setting, service and food. I totally enjoyed the experience with one exception. A pianist / vocalist was performing early on. She is quite reminiscent of Florence Foster Jenkins. Dedicated to her music, like Ms Jenkins she possesses a unique talent. She did end her session midway through dinner and like another slice of roast beef, that ending was delicious.
Brilliant afternoon, as usual. The service is superb -friendly without being too familiar and professional without being patronising. We were well looked after during a leisurely Sunday afternoon. One very slight 'niggle'. I suspect that the beef on the trolley is now cooked 'sous vide'. I know this is the modern way and makes the meat very tender but nothing beats beef cooked in the traditional way. (It wont stop me going again, though)
It was the first time we have been but it wont be the last. It was an experience we wont forget and would recommend anyone to try it. The food was fantastic and the service first class. The room is a blast from the past and makes the whole experience worth while.
Outstanding anniversary dinner and service, staff are so attentive and their attention to detail is second to none! Highly recommend dining here the food is truly amazing xx
I have dined at Simpsons on many occasions . It’s consistently outstanding. Best food and service! Excellent!
Excellent ambience and food. A great experience in Central London
The food was excellent but the service was rather slow particularly the after meal coffees. We found the restaurant rather cold so weren't particularly comfortable and although the staff were very friendly they weren't that attentive other than asking if the meal was OK. Overall we felt the experience was not as special as we had expected it to be and although the food was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing so, considering the cost, I don't feel we could recommend it to a friend.
We had a very nice evening at Simpson's in the Strand. The quality of the food is very high, we had the best green beans ever and the meat was superb, also dessert (caramel toffee pudding) was absolutely amazing! And the service is excellent. All in all, we will go there again when we will be in London next time.
Lovely food and great ambiance. Quite classic. Nice
Amazing meal for my husbands birthday, a little above our normal price range but we were made to feel so welcome. The food was so good & my husband said the beef was the best he'd ever had . The staff are so efficient & friendly & welcoming would definitely love to eat there again.
An amazing and really tasty experience
