Simply Thai Ratings and Reviews
I travel a lot for business and have tried Thai food in several cities. This is undoubtedly the best I have ever had. Who would have thought? A hidden gem right here in Louisville. I typically gauge my experience by trying the Pad Thai first (the national dish and common denominator for me). To repeat, it is the best I've ever had. I also tried my wife's dish and was blown away by the amazing flavor. This is definitely going to be on our favorites list going forward! I highly recommend Simply Thai!
Horrible place I have ever been. They have no manners at all. We did a reservation for lunch and reached there on time. We waited there 50 minutes and no one showed us to take the order. We went and remind them that no one came to get our order. We did not even get a glass of water. People who came after us they were served food when we are still waiting to get our drinks. Kids were asking why they did not bring our food. This is the worst place I have even seen. We were only family with kids and they do not even care. We got our food after 1 hour 20 minutes and dishes were horrible. Kids did not even touch the food. We went a near by ice cream and pie shop to feed them. I will never go there again.
The food was great, as always, but the service was slow and the place wasn't even very busy. It also took awhile for our food to arrve. Despite all of this, we had a great time. My biggest beef is that either Simply Thai or Open Table won't allow reservations to be made before 8 pm. I don't have much interest in a place that thinks it's too important to be respectful of my time.
A group of us met at Simply Thai and we are not an easy group - one gluten-free diet, one vegetarian and two carnivores! Our waiter was extremely helpful, giving us tips on navigating Thai spice levels, confirming which menu items were in fact gluten-free and being patient with two novices with Thai cuisine.
We loved every item we sampled! Each dish was full of fresh ingredients and prepared perfectly.
Our group came for lunch and the restaurant was full by noon. The noise level was humming but not distracting. I look forward to returning for another lunch or dinner soon.
I would recomment Simply Thai to Louisvillians and out of towners alike. It is a gem!
The restaurant was very busy, and the noise level was a bit high for a romantic dinner for two, but our server was very accommodating, and the food is great. This is my kids favorite restaurant so I'm not sure it is fair to expect quiet for just my wife and I. Prices seemed reasonable.
I have been going to Simply Thai for years and so glad they moved across the street so it is easier for us to get a table! The food is always great and always has a generous portion. The service has been very prompt and polite since the move as well. This is a great place to meet for lunch or meet someone for dinner. Make sure to put in reservations at a decent hour so you won't be waiting too long... especially on a Friday or Saturday night.
We love Simply Thai even when it was the little place across the street. The new restaurant is nicely done. We had a large group, 13 people and the only dissatisfier is that they did not try to accommodate us and we had to sit at different tables although there were several empty tables.
This is my sixth or seventh visit to Simply Thai, and the fourth time I've been to the new location. In most visits, the food has been uniformly delicious and fresh, the service quick and cheerful. However the place is getting too busy for its staff to handle. My dish was good, but my wife's dish (basil fried rice with tofu) was bland and there was so little tofu buried in the mound of rice that she ended up eating some of my meal. The service on previous visits (both lunch and dinner) was much better. Our waitress didn't spend much time taking care of us and was only infrequently checking in but I am not sure I can blame her. The place appears to me to be getting too busy for the number of staff the owners are hiring for peak hours
I tried the pineapple fried rice with chicken and asked for it level 2 on the spice out of 5. It was way to spicy for me, so I couldn't even eat half. My husband and our friend got the pad thai and they loved it, but our friend didn't get the salad he ordered and cancelled it after his meal was about half gone. I would get the pad thai next time and go lighter on the spice!
Food was great but it was a very busy Friday night and even with a reservation, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Not a lot of room around the front entrance to wait so it was an uncomfortable 30 minutes. Highly recommend the Pad Thai with the Sweet Potato noodles and the Massaman Curry - excellent dishes!
There were six people in our party and we all got different items all of which were very tasty. There were very limited selections of wine by the glass. While we had a reservation and arrived promptly we were put in the very last booth in the restaurant, consequently we saw very little of our waiter. We were able to flag down other waiters when we needed occasional service. Other than the service we received very good value for the money.
