About Simply Thai Restaurant & Wine Bar
This is no ordinary Thai eatery it's more like SOHO meets Southern Thailand. Very cool in style, yet very warm in spirit. There's art on the walls, world music in the air, and maybe a celebrity or three, or one of the city's top chefs having a meal. They love Grace's cooking. Grace is the Owner and Executive Chef Siriwan Rerksuttisiridach. Bangkok born and raised, she apprenticed under Penpan Sittitrai, teacher of Royal Thai Chefs for the Royal Family of Thailand. Grace wanted to give Vancouver true Thai cuisine flavoured with her own creativity. Grace and Simply Thai are the real deal. Simply Thai's selection of more than 200 different types wines from BC, Australia, California, Germany and France offers a range of wines that go perfectly with Thai dishes, including Alsatian, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. It's such a well-thought-out selection that Simply Thai has annually won New York Wine Spectator's “Award of Excellence”.

Simply Thai Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was nice and clean and the atmosphere was nice. We had a table of 4 and where squeezed into a table next to the kitchen. There were better table so I am not sure why they gave us this table. After about 10 minutes of sitting and talking about what we wanted to eat I began to smell someone's smelly feet. The guy at the next table had taken off his shoes and war airing out his wool socks. Ruined it for me so we asked to be moved to another spot. Staff was great and they moved us fast. Great friendly staff but I was really mad that they did not tell this guy to put his shoes back on. Would I go back yes. The food was very good.
Very warm welcome upon arrival. An acquaintance was waiting for a takeout order. Patio was empty, and we were seated promptly. Donna took our drink orders and read off the list of three Chef's Specials of the day. It was truly like being in a Thai home where the cook was ready to create something unique for us. My dining companion was Gluten-Free, and she assured us that the veggie spring rolls were made with rice wrappers and rice vermicelli. Portions were more than ample for two to share, and we took home lunch for the next day. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and water glasses were refilled at regular intervals discretely. Cocktail list is extensive, with delightful twists that make the offerings unique and suited to the menu choices. The rosé wine provided the perfect counterpoint to the coconut and tamarind notes of my dishes for a mild outdoor dining experience. Dishes are not elaborately garnished as much as my other favourite Thai restaurant, however, I would rather a more substantial portion of the dish that I have chosen than an elaborate carrot carving and an orchid blossom added to fill the plate!
The spring rolls were divine, along with the cocktails such as the Mai Tai and Mango Colada. The dishes we had were tasty and they asked us how spicy we'd like them, which was a nice touch. We even got a slab of birthday cake from our server as she wanted to share it with us, which was lovely of her! Thoroughly enjoyed.
Food was just average. Tiger cry beef was tasty as were the fried bananas but then they are fried bananas with ice cream. Hard to go wrong. Overall, a little disappointed because I was looking for some good tasty authentic Thai food. Not here unfortunately.
The food was tasteful but somehow the place felt unwelcoming, maybe because it was cold, really cold inside and also the servers were not really inviting and nice. A note on the side, next time an alarm screams in the restaurant for almost 10 minutes you might want to explain to your custo.ers whats going on.
Second time here. First time was outstanding. This time not so much. Food quality (tough, chewy meat, basic spice and flavoring) was mediocre and waiter service is slipping. Friendly staff but really needs to focus on being better than average to prosper in Vancouver. Maybe just a bad night but will think twice about returning.
This is one of our regular stops for dinner. The food is always top quality and pricing for 4, including 15% tip was $146.00 this time. We had lots of food and yummy too.
Excellent if you want to get away from the heavy steaks - and the cheap chines food.
Thanks for a very nice dinner.
Good food not matched by initial service. Was ignored by two staff at the entrance when we arrived - both chatted together and eventually walked off. Then subsequently asked by three different people if we had a booking(we did) even after we were seated by a host. Final server that we had for most of the evening was very good.
