At Simon's Cafe, guests can dine on an entrée of penne with lamb and beef sausage, chicken tagine with saffron rice or a vegetarian couscous. Fresh salads, hearty soups and tasty desserts can also be found on the menu.
Simon's Cafe was awarded as having the Best Lamb Tagine in Los Angeles by LA Magazine, the Best Couscous by Daily Mail and Best Merguez in Los Angeles by LA Times. This restaurant caters private events and provides take-out service for guests.
I love Simon and his cafe. The food is deliciously prepared! I had the chicken cooked with green olives and tomatoes over couscous with a side of stewed veggies! Absolutely delicious-like a good home cooked meal.
Smells were intoxicating, the food was super fresh, like home cooking. Not fancy, just really good, solid, fresh food. Chef came out to see us and make sure we were satisfied...we were. Great place to share with each other, lots of variety. Teens went in grumbling and left really happy!
I like Simon's so much, I eat there at least once a month even though I live 15 miles away.
Simon's Cafe does a spot-on job of preparing everything from scratch and to order. His Moroccan dishes are highlights; particularly the mixed appetizer plate with pita, tender lamb tajine, and chicken tajine with dried fruits. He's a kind man, always there, always cooking, and pretty much a one-man-band. Let's support our non-corporate neighborhood eateries!
Simon's Cafe is an unassuming storefront on Sepulveda Boulevard South of Ventura Boulevard just North of the 101/405 on ramp. The best entrance is from the parking lot off of Dickens St (pay in advance or valet).
It's not fancy- no belly dancers or costumed servers, just Simon himself in the kitchen, but the food is amazing! We had a delicious b'stilla, lamb tajine, and couscous "Royale" with skewers of chicken and lamb, and home made merguez sausage. All were delicious and mDe with obvious care and pride.
Simon also makes delicious desserts, including candied orange peel, candied figs, and candied baby eggplants (!), as well as house-made tarts, baklava, and other Moroccan pastries.
Simon himself is one of the most gracious restaurant hosts around!

This is a wonderful little restaurant recommended by my sister, who lives in the area. We were greeted by the owner and shown to a table right away. The owner has a pleasant and welcoming demeanor, readily answering questions about the offerings of the day. We shared Pastilla, a delicious pastry with duck and chicken, as an appetizer. It was so delicious that we might not be able to try any of the other tempting appetizer offerings, since we are likely to order Pastilla again! Three of us had the Couscous Royale, a delicious and filling entree. The fourth person had a bowl of Harira Soup, which he said he will order again in the future. He had the Merguez as his entree. The evening was so enjoyable we will return. In fact, this restaurant has rocketed to the top of our list of area restaurants.
this food is amazing! simon does it all. he is great. we had Combination Appetiser Platter , Harira Soup, Chicken Tagine with Tomato and Olives and Couscous Royale. every single thing was delicious and tons of flavor. this was my 2nd time there and i will totally go again and again
Simon welcomed us, offered insight himself into his menu, and checked on us afterward to make sure we were pleased. He made a point of removing turnips from the couscous for one person in our party, while providing the full dish to the rest. The food was delicious, creative, and abundant. We look forward to returning. It was the personal touch like I've never seen before.
We have known Simon for almost 10 years now. He is amazingly sweet, attentive and home made food he and his wife prepares better then any rare restaurants in the Valley or LA. You got to try this place and you will be hooked forever. Thank you Simon for the great desserts as well.
They have the best lamb tagine around. The spices are perfect and there's no gamey flavor at all. We also got the appetizer sampler and the Israeli salad. We had so many wonderful flavors. Can't wait to do it again.
Always amazing! I love his vegan soups. The butternut squash with apple was divine. I love the pastries and desserts too. His cooking is incredible !
This is a very good restaurant serving Moroccan food which is a little unique in Los Angeles. We like the tagine dishes and the homemade appetizers and dessert tarts. The owner is friendly and will explain the dishes of his country if you ask him. Tasty flavored ice tea--try it.
The food and service is excellent. I can't wait to go again and have another dish. Best hummus I have ever tasted. Best falafal ever. Might be the best Lamb Chop I have ever had in my Life. Our server Deja was prompt and ever present. The owner Simon explained our dishes.
Great unassuming place. Food is great! Owner serves and explains his dishes. Just about everything is homemade. I loved the hummus, meat cigars, Couscous Royale and desserts.
