We had a most enjoyable pre-symphony dinner at the Silver Trumpet this week. Everything from the pleasant experience of being seated promptly at our reservation time, to the friendly & efficient service of our waiter, Mario, to the variety and quality of the food was outstanding. We shared a delicious arugula salad and then both had the short ribs entrees. The ribs, braised in a red wine reduction sauce, were falling apart tender. They were served over whipped potatoes with grilled carrots & onions. It was wonderful comfort food on a cold rainy night.
The meat portions were more than we could eat but it didn’t seem practical to carry take out to the symphony. Mario offered to box up our leftovers and store them in their kitchen refrigerator so we could pick them up after the performance. Talk about service!
The Silver Trumpet is a hidden gem, a short easy walk to Segerstrom Center. Validated parking in the hotel garage is included. We will definitely dine there again.
The food was bad. Steak so tough it was hard to cut even with a steak knife. Very hard to chew and was supposedly prime beef. Server took one steak off the bill. Lobster bisque also unsatisfactory.
Good dining, with Prix Fixe menu available. Located near the Performing Arts complex. Convenient to walk.
One of our favorite before and after theater dining spots.
Our first experience at the Silver Trumpet was a complete success from start to finish.
Great service and food was excellent! Perfect location to dine and then see a play or other entertainment.
We decided on a brunch one Sunday morning before a 1 pm performance at the Segerstrom. None of us had ever tried Silver Trumpet and based upon favorable reviews online, decided to go there. Location was very convenient to the theatre, however to park there required a fee (reimbursed somewhat by the stamp put on the parking chit by the restaurant). Parking at the Segerstrom is similarly expensive for a few hours. The menu was interesting, prices were fair, ambiance was lovely, and the server couldn't have been more helpful. The food itself was presented in an attractive and welcoming manner. My two companions had the breakfast burritos, and both of them said it was very good. Portion size was decent. I had the lunch soup and salad combination. I am a picky eater and found the soup to be a tad salty and the salad (mostly raw spinach) to have been undertossed (tossing will break down the toughness of the spinach). On the whole, however, it was a good meal and we were quite pleased.
Excellent food and great service at this comfortable and beautiful restaurant. You can talk comfortably and you are not sitting on top of one another. The food is very delicious and served at the appropriate temperature. Servings are also quite generous.
I love this place. I go every time I attend a show at the Segerstrom or SCR. (Which is once or twice a month.) The food is delicious! I especially love the beet and goat cheese salad..( I always add salmon). The vibe is slightly funky and fun. It has elegance but with an artistic flare. There is an awesome bar with great appetizers and yummy drinks that has both indoor and outdoor seating. The dining room has lots of seating options from high booths, to huge couches for larger groups. I always recommend Silver Trumpet when anyone mentions they are going to the theater in Costa Mesa.
this is the second time we've eaten here before a show at segerstrom. it's very good food and the service is excellent! they have a limited but very tasty prix fixe menu, and it doesn't seem to change over time, but the bacon wrapped dates are to die for!! my husband got a cobb salad which which was a good portion, and we shared a prix fixed meal. it was a perfect sharing meal. we have another show next month, and i'm sure we'll be back again. oh, the other plus is the parking and validation to go see a show at segerstrom. i love that it's right across the street. super convenient!
the scallops and parmesan risotto were very good and the salmon was excellent. Also enjoyed the bacon wrapped dog appetizers.
Amazing Valentines Day Dinner ! As soon as we walked in I received a beautiful red rose ,classy touch ,the dinning room was very beautiful decorated for the occasion .The server was greeting us with complementary champagne ,most of the restaurants are serving a cheap sparkling since is complementary , they were serving Jean Charles Boisset ,talking about class ! Food was delicious and perfect portioned .All I can say is WELL DONE SILVER TRUMPET ,we will always remember this amazing night
This is now our third time coming here for Valentines Dinner and we have always enjoyed our visit and dining experience. We were celebrating our 1 yr engagement anniversary and waiter Ayoub was attentive and really was outstanding. This is definitely a place we plan to continue to come with a quality of food, service, care and attention to detail continues to be there, it’s a winner!
Valentine's 4 course dinner.
Matinee at Segerstrom. Parking convenient and free with validation. Lots of variety on brunch menu. Service excellent and food tasty and well-presented
Silver Trumpet offered a delicious Prefix 3 course menu with or without wine pairings. Everything we ate was delicious especially the rack of lamb with thick succulent chops. We notified our server that we had a Segerstrom Performance to attend and he was most attentive to our needs. Silver Trumpet is my favorite place to dine when we have Segerstrom tickets. They will also validate your parking if you park in their parking structure.
Excellent, quick, and courteous service. The prix fixe menu was a good arrangement and the food was delicious, including bread and dessert. The restaurant is on the street directly behind the Segerstrom Center for the Arts so you can park once and go to both.
Wanted to love this place. Went for a nice dinner on a Tuesday prior to attending a theatre performance nearby. It is certainly Beautiful, modern, and a unique place. Before we were served our dinner we were thinking this could be a new favorite to add to our list. We arrived at 530pm to enjoy a drink and maybe an appetizer before our 6pm dinner reservation. The HH wine was decent but the HH appetizers were lack luster in our opinion so we stuck with just a glass of wine. Oh, just FYI...We were the only ones in the bar and the restaurant had one couple seated when we arrived and that didn’t change much even by the time we left. My husband ordered a New York steak after the server recommended their high quality steaks. Nothing about the steak seemed high quality. Nothing plump or special about it for sure except maybe the two side sauces they brought out to enjoy. The steak needed sauce. I on the other hand wanted a lighter meal and ordered an Australian white fish. I eat a lot of fish and this fish was terrible. Flash fried white fish ( I knew this going into the order) with skin on one side that could not be removed without scraping away most of the very thin fillet along with it. It was flavorless but thank heaven for the bed of puréed peas underneath the fish that gave some flavor. Sides are ala carte. We shared a scalloped potato casserole which had decent flavor but the potatoes were crispy not al dente as I would expect them to be. Needless to say we won’t be returning despite the beautiful ambience.
This place is terrific. We go before and after the theater for morning and matinee shows. The brunch is excellent and the free parking is very helpful.
Had a wonderful dinner with my colleagues. There were great pre-fixe menu options with wine pairing that was a great deal. The bacon wrapped dates were to die for, and the chicken was so delicious. Loved the ambiance and the service was great too. I definitely would go back.
Another amazing night with friends ,this time in the Bar area .Great and delicious cocktails ,yummy tapas and great service .
Our server was simply the best! She made our dinner most enjoyable
We have eaten here a few times and have had delicious food and wonderful service!!..This time the food was great, but the service was TERRIBLE - EXTREMELY AND UNREASONABLY SLOW. Everything we ordered came after way too much time. The entree arrived 75 minutes after we arrived and we had told the waitress we had a concert to attend. We had planned 1 1/2 hours to eat, which has always worked great in the past at this restaurant....We will go there again for dinner, but do not want the waitress we had this last time.
Wonderful dinner of pan-seared scallops with artichoke slices over risotto. To die for.
They got our meals wrong, no apologies, food was average at best and the bill was $200.
Quite noisy restaurant--a bit uncomfortable. Our server was good. Our salad was just enough for dinner.
Love this place. Can't say enough.
I have been coming here for many years for lunch and dinners before theater and business. Great spot to have a meal and a short walk over to the theater! Food is always good(and they change up the menu) and the service outstanding.
Very chic place. It wasn’t as busy as I thought it should be but the location is not visible. My friends I took Drive that area all the time but not that street and they thought it was just a hotel. It would be nice to have such a cool place near the water or more exposure.
It was a very nice experience with wonderful food and service
Our waiter James really looked after us well! We'll ask for him next time. The Silver Trumpet was perfect for dinner before the symphony!
PERFECT in every way! Amazing food. Amazing ambience. Exceptional service!
This is always a great spot just to hang out either before the show at Segerstrom or just enjoy a fine dining. Our waiter Mitch was the best, best dessert too
Friendly staff and good food
Great service and fantastic food!
This was our first visit to Silver Trumpet and we loved it. It's a beautiful restaurant with very good food and service. We've already made another reservation.
The food was excellent. I had the rack of lamb, very generous amount and delicious this was the price fixe and everything prepared su7perbly. My husband had the filet mignon and it was one of the best he ever tasted. cooked to perfection and fork tender. I would certainly go back for dinner. It was a drive from Riverside but was going to Segerstroms following dinner,It was a perfect night!
Great dinner with my girlfriend food was lovely and service was great
Staff was friendly. Server was attentive. Crab cakes and soup were very good. Don’t know the reason but both of our salads were served undressed. Chef over cooked one of the filets when both were to be broiled the same. The lobster was over cooked and tough. Service was slow even though the dining room was not full. This is the second time we have dined here and the first experience was similar. I do not believe that I will give them a 3rd chance.
We ate Christmas breakfast at the silver trumpet and it was absolutely fabulous!!! Very much enjoyed!!! The food was wonderful and the service was excellent!!! Will go back next time we are in the area!!!
