We love this restaurant. The food, the service is always spot on. It is a very beautiful place.
Great place for Prom dinner!
We had a great experience here -- top to bottom. Graduation brunch with 10 people ranging from grandparents to toddler. Bright, airy dining area. Manager went out of the way to give us a large table to ourselves (on relatively short notice). Service was attentive and professional. Food was well-prepared and presented and menu selections were varied enough for all tastes in our party.
The service was great, the food was amazing. My wife said that the rack of lamb she ordered was the best she's had.
When you do it right the first time you don't need to have a review but I feel it is my privilege to let everyone know how fantastic it is to go to a restaurant that does it exactly right! So if you are looking for the best date place or take a friend to dinner place search no more you have arrived at your destination. The Silver Trumpet!
Our first dinner at the Silver Trumpet and we will definitely return! The overall experience was excellent and the timing perfect to catch our 7:30 show. We both opted for the 3 course meal - one with wine pairing and the designated driver without. Everything was perfect and unique. Our server Lala was a delight! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will return again. Oh and if you are seeing a show, they validate your parking next door which we did not know, so that will save you $12 on parking!
One of the best secrets near south coast plaza. You can have a wonderful dinner with creative cocktails and walk to the theater or south coast plaza and your parking is comped. We eat there every time we attend a play. Saw Fiddler on the Roof this week and had a delightful dinner before hand. I am not sure why every theater goer does not eat here and park for free.
Had the lamb chops but flavor of the meat was completely disguised by some spice/condiment that was used on chops. Had previously had same meal and it did not have spice/condiment and was much more flavorful.
The truffle risotto was amazing. We also enjoyed the key lime pie and chocolate pistachio mousse. Amazing!!!
Mother’s Day & theater event. The location to Segerstrom was great. Charcuterie plate was ok, cheers not explained. Slow service for a drink, decor is a bit random, Dinner overall was good all of our main courses were seasoned well, cooked well and delivered timely.
Everyone is entitled to a bad day, but the Silver Trumpet had more than a bad day on Mother's Day. Overwhelmed with an event, they were off for those of us in the dining room. My son had completely raw chicken tenders (not even sure how they could have been golden on the outside and raw on the inside). My other son's roasted heirloom potatoes were also raw. The worst of it was that they then tried to lie about the chicken tenders and brought out cooked and hot ones (30 minutes later) to show that we must have been mistaken. Luckily, I had a picture of my son's bite mark into a completely raw tender. When I confronted the manager/chef about the lie and asked to take a picture of the one he was trying to pawn off as ours, he couldn't run back to the kitchen fast enough. Bad choice.
The Open Table reservation was misleading in the sense that when I made the reservation, at no time did Open Table or the restaurant mention that it was solely a Mother's Day Brunch at $70/head with tax and service charge $87.50/ head and bottomless mimosas were extra! Really???. This was way over our budget, the restaurant had a rating of $$, we were expecting to pay $50/ head tops! Not to mention we were asked to leave by 12 noon because there was another seating. It was Mother's day, we had my 85 year old Mother we us, who I did not want to upset so we just went along like everything was ok. Needless to say I am very upset.
Ambiance very nice. Servers quite friendly. Enjoyed Sunday brunch, however, buffet line didn’t not progress well and patrons waited an uncomfortable amount of time to receive made to order omelets, waffles etc. On that same thread, drinks from the bar took forever to arrive. When I pay a premium for dining, I expect timeliness.
As always loved the pris fixe with wine. Plenty to share! My husband and I always split the meal!
Great cocktails and food. Love this place. Near by South Coast Plaza shopping mall.
Silver Trumpet is our favorite restaurant for dinner before our Segerstrom performances.
We love the value, the food, the service and the ambiance. This restaurant is everything you would want and more.
Beautiful ambience and delicious food. We had the lamb. It was excellent.
Atmosphere is cold, chars not comfortable, menu is limited.
Service hit and miss.
Great good service and ambience. Love this place !!!!!
Salad was good, raviolis had no flavor on their own but the sauce was nice. Seemed a bit expensive for 4 raviolis. our waiter was phenomenal and took care of us when our main entree came out too early. Would come again but would try something different that seems more appropriate for the cost.
Everyone gave great friendly service and the food was good.
Seeing a show
Great service ! Beautiful restaurant ! Great food ! The rack of lamb was perfectly cook , the truffle risotto was awesome ! The Silver trumpet calamari was the best and don’t forget the best dessert chocolate pistachio mousse!! Ample parking so convenient pre and post theater dinner , a few steps away from Henry Segerstrom!
From the very beginning, great getting greeted as we walked in, all the staff from the maître d’, to our excellent waiter, Mitchell And the wait staff (gentleman that served water and bread)Just superior service. We had 2 short rib dinners which were excellent and suggested by our waiter; my daughter’s scallop dinner was also excellent and Desert-also suggested by Mitchell- the flan-Simply scrumptious. I also drink quad espressos on a daily basis And my espresso was fabulous. They served warm milk for my daughters coffee also a Very nice added touch.
We've enjoyed the bar in the past but this was our first time dining. We enjoyed Easter brunch (four in party). Brunch was wonderful: good selection of typical breakfast faire such as made to order omelettes, chicken n waffles, hash browns plus salmon, cod, roast beef, lamb, pasta, sliders, and more desserts than you can possibly eat. Wait staff were on point, friendly and attentive as they kept our bottomless mimosas full. What I enjoyed equally was the price. Most brunch spots up their price for major holidays, not Silver Trumpet! The price was very reasonable. Highly recommend enjoying The Silver Trumpet.
We came here for Easter brunch and everything from the food to the service was excellent. The place is stunning and I would love to go back and have drinks in the lounge area.
The food was fantastic. Our server was extremely gracious and accommodating (genuine, not cloying). The cocktails in the bar were super tasty!
Wonderful preparations, all our food was amazing, try the dates! Service was perfect too
Prices were higher than indicated in the OpenTable summary. However, the ambiance, food, and service were worth the extra money. Our waitress was very attentive and the hostess asked if we were attending the Performing Arts Center, which we were, so they could be sure we were served promptly.
Wow! You walk up to the beautiful, pristine glass doors on a purple carpet, which made me break out in a song. Something about rain as I recall . We walked through the doors and were greeted promptly by the receptionist, whom I'm sure told us her name but I was so in awe of the cello and the overall ambiance that I can't remember. We were seated at a very comfy booth that included a pillow. Nice touch. We were greeted by our server and received our cocktails of choice within minutes, well made bartender! The lighting was perfect, with a view overlooking the well done fireplace enclosed patio. Lobster Bisque, yum! Fennel salad amazing! He had the rack of Lamb, cooked to perfection! I had the scallops served over pea puree with hearts of palm and mushrooms.....exquisite! My compliments to the chef. We didn't get to indulge in desert because the entree were so outstanding we ate every bite, a very rare occurrence for me. We will definitely go back to try the Chilean sea bass and a steak next time. Yes, there will be a next time for sure!
Always enjoy Silver Trumpet. Great for any meal but fabulous for a pre OCPAC meal. Their prixe fixe is hard to beat. The wine paung plus it over the top. Great service, yummy food, great price, great location.
My friend and I have eaten at Silver Trumpet many times before. We make it our place to eat before seeing a play or musical at Segerstrom. I took my friend to brunch on Sunday, April 14th and we did not have a good experience. We ordered an omelette which was ok but the fruit cup that came with it was not. The melon was so hard and the pieces of watermelon were half white which is because it was cut close to the rind. We also ordered the avocado toast with salmon which was not good. The avocado was so hard (not ripe!) we could not eat it. We told our server and she came back and said "the entire bin of avocados came in that way". What??? Why wouldn't you have someone run to the nearest grocery store and buy some ripe avocados for your customers instead of serving them like you did? Or take that option off the menu all together instead of serving a very low quality product. Very, very surprising. So then we ordered the pastries and yogurt and the pastries looked and tasted like something that came from a discount store. Not impressed at all. So we were very surprised this time and disappointed to say the least. Our bill was $50 and was not worth the amount of food that we could actually eat. The one bright side was our server brought a dessert to my friend because we were celebrating her birthday. Thank you for that, but going forward and based on this last experience, we may have to try another restaurant before our performances.
As usual, food and service were excellent.
First, I read a lot of reviews about this place and not once was it mentioned this was a hotel restaurant! If I missed it, my bad :( Although the outside ambiance was nice, the inside was very “hotel,” and the place was totally empty on a Saturday night at 7:30...such a bummer for my boyfriend’s bday. Another major bummer was the service...although the server was “nice,” it was like teaching service 101...we ordered calamari, which was actually delicious, but something I would expect at a Denny’s, frankly, and no silverware was brought out, we had to ask. We also had to ask to have our expensive bottle of Chardonnay put into a bucket of ice, and had to ask twice for lemons. The heat lamps/fire was not pre-lit and we waited as the person dragged the big tanks out to do so...and the Chilean Sea Bass, which we split, was definitely a frozen fish that I could have bought at Costco. It was actually gross. This place must stay in business due to the hotel and perhaps the Sergestrom center proximity, but I dine out frequently and cannot quite remember when I had such a disappointing experience. To top it all off, I had written on my open table reservation to please surprise my bf with a dessert for his birthday at the end of the night, but there was not one mention of this. Needless to say, so many other great restaurants around, skip this one for sure.
It's a great place for a meal prior to going to the Segerstrom Center for theater or music. Very convenient. Very nice staff and very good food.
Perfect dinner before the symphony. I will be making this a habit! Service was excellent and the food was yummy.
Birthday! Lala was a fabulous waitress. The service and food was amazing. We highly recommend dessert.
I always love going to that restaurant before I go see a show always good food always good service
I enjoyed the service, the atmosphere, the dessert was incredible as was the apricot Sangria drink. However the food was on the salty side, but it could be because we do not eat out much and our taste buds are more sensitive to salt content than the general public.
I would ask next time for less salt and the meal would be perfect.
Excellent food and excellent service. The rack of lamb is wonderful.
