Silver Dollar Grill Ratings and Reviews
Anniversary dinner. After we were seated, the waiter made initial contact, then disappeared for 20-25 minutes. I’ll note here that we were the only customers in the room at that time. When he returned, I ordered a dinner salad and a 10 oz ribeye, medium well. No parmesean cheese was requested on the salad; however, when the salad arrived, it was covered in parmesean cheese. He took it back and returned with the correct order. Then the steak arrived; it was dropped off and he disappeared. I cut into the steak and was bleeding, it was medium rare, if that. At this point, I had enough and ate what I could. My wife flagged him down, told him it was raw and needed to go back on the grill. I told him never mind. The manager (Kate) stopped by to ask how our dinner was so I gave her the details above. She apologized and said this was not the standard the restaurant operates to. She took care of our bill, even though I told her we would pay it. Not sure I will go back again
Thanksgiving dinner with a friend. We started with one of their specialty drinks - Montana Mule - definitely a must have! The brussel sprouts were a wonderful start to a festive meal. I would love to have the recipe. The soups were tasty but too rich and the french onion soup was salty. My friend was disappointed with her pork chops as the were slightly overcooked. (She was comped her Montana Mule) My elk was very tasty. The portion was large and I was only able to finish half. A huckleberry sorbet finished the meal. I had ordered a glass of wine, and the waiter forgot to tell me it was not available until I asked once the main course was served. I was not asked if I would like a different wine. Overall it was a pleasant meal, and I was happy to taste elk but probably would not order it again if I have the opportunity. I like to try native foods - would choose bison, trout or walleye over elk.
They were very busy for Thanksgiving dinner but their staff were prepared with minimal wait times in the buffet lines. The Alaskan king crab legs and the corn chowder were excellent. Great atmosphere in a historic hotel. The service was excellent despite how busy they were.
We really enjoyed our meal at the Silver Dollar Grill. We had good beer and wine. We ordered the ribeye steak. The steak was good, but for the price I would expect prime and I don't think it was. The mashed potatoes, asparagus, and the salad we had before were all very good. So, we are happy we ate there. We would go back. However, I think they can do even better on the quality of the steak for the price.
The food was great but the service was sub par. Our server dropped multiple items on the table, cleared plates before everyone was finished, forgot to bring silverware. Server was new to the industry and simultaneously learning English which made for a frustrating dining experience. I would recommend the steelhead and the chili.
Our last night we stayed in Jackson we decided to dine at the Silver Dollar Grill, it was awesome!!! The evening meal was complimented by the art, decor, and dress of the staff which made our meal even more special. If you want to enjoy a great evening look no further than the Silver Dollar Grill!!!!!!
I wish I could recommend the Silver Dollar Grill to friends. We stay at the Wort Hotel several times per year and never had a problem in the past. We went down to have dinner at the time of opening and was told that we could not be seated because we did not have reservations. We have NEVER had reservations in the past. I then went online and made reservations for 15 minutes later and was then seated. We were told that they were totally booked. If that was the case then I would not have been able to make reservations online. Also as we were sitting there having our dinner the manager Craig was turning people away telling them the same thing. I look around and there was only 4 tables being used. It was clear that they were not booked. We went to the hotel manager Kate and she had so many excuses but none of them made ANY sense to us as to why this was happening. As guests who stay here several times each year I think we may be staying somewhere else in the future. There was no excuse for what was happening and then to be lied to with such excuses was only like a slap in the face of our intelligence. There was no reason for what happened tonight so for that I am very, very disappointed in the Wort Hotel and their restaurant as well as the two managers that we had spoken with.
I had the Ruby Trout. This is a delicate fish. I came in a heavy crust. I didn't think it needed it. It was good but not great. My husband had the Prime Rib Steak. It was tough. The mashed potatoes were water and the asparagus was woody. This was an expensive meal. Our friends had the pulled pork bugger and they said that was excellent. The waiter was very friendly but not so efficient I think. We had to wait a while for our drinks and one of our desserts did not come.
We had a very poor experience here. We ordered a cheese plate for an appetizer and it took 40 minutes for it to be delivered-when the rest of our food was delivered. It was also about 30 min to get water repoured. And the place was not busy at all. The food was average. Very disappointing experience. Austin our waiter was very pleasant but we basically felt ignored. And it was our daughters birthday and we mentioned that on the open table notes - but it was ignored too.
Lunch while visiting downtown Jackson Wy. Love the bar known for its silver dollars. Always nice to explore the Wort Hotel lobby connected to the Silver Dollar . The wings were very good , Caesar salad, & try the elk sliders . Service was good we were seated quickly.
Was looking forward to the Sunday prime rib special - not available!
Service was a little over friendly but competent.
Venison medallions were thin and over cooked but even the mushroom sauce did not save the day.
It's a classic stop for Jackson Hole but don't expect too much!
Waitress was too busy with workload and training to be what is expected at this price point. Food was not brought out in proper order nor was there good follow up. When one order was severely undercooked had to waive her down. Loud obnoxious table disrupted the whole dining room and staff just laughed. This used to be a regular stop in Jackson, probably not next time.
We went for the Sunday Prime Rib special, it was perfect as usual. It was also 2-for-one night, so it was a terrific bargain. Be advised that they add the gratuity to the check (which is only fair!). Our server was a nice young man named (I think?) Zach. He was prompt and efficient.
Disappointed. We ate here last April during the 2 for 1 special and the bison tenderloin was fabulous. They must have run short on the tenderloin this year because the plate had one small piece of tenderloin and a piece of something tough with connective tissue - like bottom round or maybe flank steak. Not very nice of them.
On (most) Sunday evenings the Silver Dollar Grill room special is prime rib. It is cooked sous vide and then a delicious herbed crust is cooked on to it in the oven. We think it is the best, and most generous cut of prime rib in town. Currently, in the "off-season", dinners are 2-for-1, which makes this a real steal. We always take a big chunk of it home, as only a teenager or starving 20-something could eat it all in one sitting. We highly recommend it!
