Usually I’m a fan of Silver and the food was as good as ever. Seating was an issue, though. No tables available until 20 minutes after reservation time, and even then I had to point out an open table to the host. Cleaning/disinfecting was not as thorough as other restos, menus and payment are still old school. This visit just was not up to par with their usual standard.
After inside dining was prohibited after December 1st in my county, it was nice to see that a place I had gone to (your place) since it first opened, had outdoor dining/seating, inside a tent w/large heaters. The 1st time I went (to eat outdoors) over a week ago, I was worried I’d be too cold to eat. I was not. I went again this past Saturday, 23rd, a really cold afternoon, windy, w/wind chill factor in the low 20s, I thought for sure I won’t make it past a a cappuccino. I was w/my eldest daughter, & in spite of the cold, w/a long down jacket/coat, after a couple of coffees, it was fine. So, unless I get bad service or bad food, I’ll keep going back in spite of the cold (as long as it doesn’t get down to 10o (or less!). Just ensure your cappuccino/ expresso machine always works, along w/ALL your heaters. The 1st time I went over a wk ago, one of your heaters did not work, so we were seated elsewhere, since at that time (during the wk) there weren’t a lot of ppl. Also, make sure your dishes are piping hot.
***Perhaps cover your dishes w/a metal cover like you see in places where there is a buffet table and covers fir the big metal containers where food is. Best of luck.
The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional
Silver has done an outstanding job adapting to all the various stages of "pandemic dining" and my family and are very appreciative. We especially like the BLT at lunch and the burrata avocado toast any time.
The menu options were not very healthy (especially on the happy hour menu). Also, it took far too long to seat us after cleaning a table, particularly given that there were so few customers.
I really wish I could rate this place higher but man was it cold. I do understand we are in a pandemic and they are doing the best they can. It was very enjoyable to be able to have a meal out of the house. I made the reservation online with no issues . I arrived at the restaurant I was seated quickly . Our serve came out and greeted us and turned on a heater near us. We let him know that we needed more time to check out the menu . It took 20 minutes before a different serve came to us. Apologizing and saying she is now taking our table. Again fine, I can understand things happen. We placed our order and waited for our food. Once our food came out in a good amount of time. I would have rated the food higher , but within less than five minutes my food was ice cold. It made it un enjoyable and hard to finish . I would have loved to stay for dessert but I couldn’t feel my fingers or toes . I hope they are able to invest in some more heaters , tent , or something to make the visit more enjoyable .
Amazing food, friendly and helpful service. Went there for brunch and everything was spot on. Warm cocktails were just what we needed sitting outside. Appetizers and entrees were amazing. Solid place 10/10, will be back.
Delicious food!
Greta food and great service!
Silver is the only restaurant where I am dining in. They implemented a series of environmental changes to protect customers again COVID. Plus, they reliably have great service and delicious food. A+
The cappuccino, grapefruit-ade, lamb meatballs, Brussels sprouts, and fish/risotto were excellent. The salmon sliders and brownie/mousse in a cup were disappointing. It would’ve been nice if they had more decorations up for the holidays (it was December), but they seem to be handling the pandemic restrictions well.
Our third time to Silver in about 3 weeks. Great outdoor seating and very pet friendly. Heater lamps a big plus. Innovative menu with interesting twists on some traditional "diner" items but at much higher level of culinary insight. Ype, the chef/owner, has done well.
The food was delicious. The restaurant has a nice vintage aesthetic. Our waiter was kind and made great suggestions on drinks. They also had nice music playlist. Will definitely be back!
Requested a booth in the corner which was perfect since went with a friend who hasn't been going out due to Covid and we both felt very safe/distanced from others.....and food as always was delicious!
Great outdoor set up and excellent service. HIghly recommend
I love this place for brunch! Lamb meatball, steak and egg, and wagyu sandwich are our favorite!
I was disappointed to find out that i had to ‘beg’ for them to open up an umbrella w heaters. With my reservation i specifically requested outdoor seating only. Upon arrival (it was a chilly windy day) i was told the patio heaters were not on.
Come on people, we are living in Covid-age. Be prepared people want outdoor seating.
When they finally agreed on opening umbrella the heaters were useless they were not mounted in such way that is was pointed at table. One heater sadly was pointing at the pedestrian sidewalk part.
Other than that things were fine. Food always good.
Clean restaurant and efficient staff under COVID condition. Price is reasonable.
Fabulous good and service. My earlier few visits were not as memorable. Service always good but I thought the food unimpressive. I was happily surprised.this time. Catch of the day was rockfish perfectly prepared and on top of a delicious risotto. We plan to return. Delicious and pleasant
Service was outstanding too
When the hostess took us to our table outside it clearly hadn’t been cleaned as it had stains of food on it and the check from prior diners. When I asked the hostess to clean the table she said that it had been (when it was obviously dirty) and that she’s the one taking the check away. When I asked her to have the table cleaned prior to us sitting there she refused and gave us a different table. In a little bit she brought another family to that table and just wiped off the dirty spot on the table and not the entire table.
Honestly, I was SHOCKED by the lack of cleaning and the hostess’ unwillingness to follow the CDC guidelines. I don’t think we’re coming back anytime soon. Not even for a takeout.
I had made a reservation but when we arrived the only table available was in the worst location in the resestaurant. We were directly in front of the counter where not only the wait staff but also the Uber eats drivers picked up food. The kitchen area was total chaos and we were directly in front of it.
Took forever to get our appetizers and the waitress came over and apologized abd said she would bring us a complimentary glass of wine, but never did. After our appetizers arrived, it was again a very very long wait before the waitress showed up and asked if we were ready for dessert never having brought our entrees.
The entrees arrived and although my wagyu brisket was flavored nicely, it was overdone and tough. My dining companions chicken was okay but the spinach side had absolutely no flavor so was just put on the dish without asy seasoning.
My avocado mousse dessert was sticky and not light and fluffy the way you would expect a mousse.
It took 3 hours for dinner even though the crowd had considerably thinned and I had to go and ask for the check because the waitress never returned to our table.
This was by far the worst restaurant review I have ever written.
Great service, nice ambiance, and really good food and cocktails!
Went for our anniversary dinner (weren’t looking for anything super over the top as were pretty casual) but they didn’t acknowledge it. The service was pretty horrible despite it being less than half full. Two or three times I had to get up from the table to find our waitress. We were there over 2 hours (not on purpose) to eat an appetizer and our meals. Food was pretty great though!
It was an amazing meal and we very much enjoyed the free drink and dessert! Delicous!
The service was horrible. It took over 30 minutes to order drinks (there were only three tables there). We were outside and asked 5 times for the heat lamps to be turned on and finally the manager came over and said they were out of propane. They had three hostesses but only one server for some reason? Then we were there for a promotion with free sparkling wine and desert but they never gave us the wine and by that point we just decided to pay and leave because it took so long.
Silver was comfortable for outside seating during the Pandemic. The food was predictable .
I wish the menu was not so limited. I prefer the menu of the Silver Diner.
Nothing special
First of all, they updated inside to comfort to advanced Covid abatement systems. They give you a card explaining the systems. They have a lot of outside seating well distanced and heat lamps. The food is outstanding. We had an enjoyable evening.
Foods hit the spot, Brussels sprouts, chicken wings, tuna tartare, goat cheese bruschetta, Yum!
Sangria was perfect too.
Service was slightly slow, but suited our mood in the twilight and mild weather.
We will be back!
A nice restaurant and fast service. Food was good
I eat at Silver every 2 weeks. Thrilled with the heaters on the patio.
We were happy to have this dinner option available to us on a Monday evening during our overnight visit in downtown Bethesda. Hoping to enjoy outdoor seating, but weather took a turn (rainy and chilly), so we were seated indoors at an appropriately socially distanced table. Meals were good but short of delicious--probably should have ordered a more basic item such as a hamburger rather than scallops. Service was very good and we felt comfortable, our first indoor dining experience during this pandemic. Atmosphere was pretty quiet with not many other customers. The downtown area is overloaded with commercial and residential construction, discouraging us from a repeat future visit, as we would opt not to subject ourselves to this ridiculous urban sprawl.
Enjoyed my "breakfast" dinner at Silver on Saturday evening--very impressed with the new Hospital grade, 3 Level Purification System--felt safe eating indoors!!
Great food, great service, lovely outdoor seating.
Had breakfast mid morning and sat outside. Sampled several dishes, all were fantastic. Freshly squeezed orange juice, also. The service was so good, our waiter was extremely nice.
Initially I thought I was forgotten, but I realized they were short staffed and my server, Troy, was by himself. Troy did a great job, he gave good suggestions and was very polite. The food was great.
The night was great! We sat outside and Troy was our waiter. He was the best!
Consistently good food and service. The added heaters for outside dining will be welcomed as the cold weather sets in.
We enjoyed dining at the Silver. We hope to return sometime soon.
You won't be disappointed unless you are sitting outside and it starts to rain!
