Signatures Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I went on a Sunday evening. Honestly the service was slow at the beginning but it caught on as the traffic slowed down. However, it shouldn't be like this given the status of this restaurant. Food was tasty and the presentation was very artistic.
Overall, outstanding experience! The food was comparable to Sassafraz, but at a much more affordable price tag. Just a heads up though, the restaurant does not accept outside food, which includes birthday cakes.
Service was acceptable, but keep in mind we were a group of 20 and were told from the start it would take longer than average to be served, so no surprise there. The ambiance is very pleasant, low lighting and chic decor made it a perfect setting for late 20's - early 30's birthday setting. What made the experience outstanding was the fact that we were seated at the big table in the center of the restaurant (rather a number of smaller tables lined up to make one) . It was not busy at all, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. There is a great bar next door at Proof, so it was very convenient to hop over for apres-dinner drinks.
The one and only complain is the execrable wine list. I'm all for spending $40+ on a nice bottle of wine, but getting charged $52 for a bottle for your run of the mill Argentinian Malbec that you can buy at LCBO for $12 is a shame.
We had a family celebration for my mom's birthday (about 10 people) and had brunch at Signatures. We had never been before. The service was excellent, the food was great and the place itself is very nicely decorated and a really nice room to be in. I recommend this place and will be back.
The food and service were 1st class. The lamb shank that I ordered was perfect, and the scallops that my wife ordered were exquisite. My wife said the crab cake that she ordered as appetizer was the best she's ever had.
The atmosphere is coffee shop(ish), but the food and service more than makes up for it.
I would definitely return.
Great menu as it shows which items have specific food allergens. My wife has celiac disease & they were very good about checking to make sure her meal was gluten free. They even gave her gluten free bread. Service was excellent & food was very tasty. Very attentive to details. Very relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely go back. The crab cakes were excellent with lots of crab meat &the beef tenderloin was done just right. My wife's mushroom & chicken soup was very tasty & her grilled organic salmon was the best she every had.
Signatures Restaurant provided exceptional food and service once again. Our daughter was celebrating her graduation from U of T and to our surprise the staff reserved their private room for us; created an amazing dessert platter to congratulate her and were incredibly attentive and friendly.
The meal choices are quite diverse and offer alternatives to those with restricted diets or requiring special dietary meals. All the dishes are flavourful; have high quality ingredients and are perfectly seasoned. The soups are an absolute must try! Definitely save room for dessert - there are delicious sampler sizes to try or indulge in one of their offerings.
Great dining experience and thank you to all the staff and the chef who made this special day totally memorable.
Already gave glowing review on tripadvisor, pleased to repeat: excellent service, quiet enough for business brunch, accommodating to my wishes. I'd gladly return. Only complaint: traffic on Bloor on a spring Saturday was horrendous. Doormen and wait staff just terrific.
I don't like this review page since it doesn't have 6 stars. And this is 6 stars restaurant. Excellent food, and excellent service. Going back again on Mother's Day.
Reallly love and and it's a highly recommended restaurant.
Thank you for the excellent experience.
Service was attentive and the restaurant is large enough to host big parties. We were there for the Christmas day menu. For about 5 courses, it was a good deal at $65 (wine and coffee/tea) not included.
The appetizer portion was generous considering it was foie gras.
For mains, I was told that the stuffing was spectacular but that the turkey was slightly dry.
The other main, the beef tenderloin was cooked to the requested medium rare but slightly lacking in flavour (it's a lean cut-- so was to be expected).
We have been dining at Signatures for more than 18 years and have found the food, service and ambiance to be nothing less than superb.
That's why it is our favorite restaurant in Toronto.
The staff is always friendly, accommodating and attentive.
The food is first-rate and has never wavered in quality.
Our last visit was Nov.7th and 8th when we stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel for 2 days so we enjoyed dinner and breakfast at Signatures.
Jenna was our server and couldn't have been nicer.
We highly recommend this wonderful Toronto spot!
My dinner there was a very mixed experience.
The food was gorgeous and very tasty.
The radish salad starter was a piece of art, and quite delicious.
The black cod entree was also creative, beautiful and delicious (the cod could've used a bit more seasoning but that's a minor quibble).
The restaurant wasn't very busy when I was there, but food took a tremendously long time to show up. My sense was this was an issue with the kitchen, not the wait staff.
My experience with my waitress was also odd... she would deal with one table at a time and then disappear for ages. It was impossible to get her attention. On the other hand, the host was gracious and helpful; he checked in occasionally.
The upshot is that the food was good enough that I'd happily recommend that, but the restaurant was so slow that unless you want to spend hours there I wouldn't recommend it.
I also had breakfast there the next day... it was a mixed bag. The eggs were good, some of the greens served with them were wilted to the point that I wouldn't put them on a plate to serve to a customer, and they had no napkins, which was just really odd. Food service was much snappier though and my waiter was great.
We, a party of four, descended on Signatures for dinner. Surprisingly, there was available street parking, although Signatures does provide valet parking service. We were warmly greeted on entrance to the restaurant, our reservation was honoured and we were immediately shown to our table. We all ordered the specialty, fresh fish beautifully prepared and well savoured,
following salad appetizers..The delicious meal was accompanied by Merlot ordered from an extensive wine menu.
Service was attentive and the warmth of the surroundings added to the enjoyment of the evening. The dining room was large enough to dissipate the sounds of conversation throughout the room. We could actually hear each other talk!
Would we return in the future? A most definite yes!
Interesting menu, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Maitre D' and chef de cuisine both stopped by the table to say hello and see to our satisfaction. Wine list is not extensive but contains a decent selection. The fresh black cod was excellent, and ahi tuna appetizer came with a delicious curried fennel mousse.
A favourite spot for the quietness and less traffic but superior service and great menu! I have tested most restaurants in Yorkville area and this is my favourite so it's so befitting that it is now on the Winterlicious list too! the salad is very well presented, squash soup and salmon for main dish were sublime. Desserts of chocolate bread pudding was just right! thank you for a great, quiet time!
We all had the special Christmas prix fixe and enjoyed the food very much. The lamb shanks were perfect as was the Christmas pudding. We felt the service was not up to the standard of the meal. My two companions had already arrived and had glasses of water when I got there, but I had to ask three times for a glass of water for myself. The waiter was also slow to come and take our order and, once having ordered, the food took almost 1/2 hour to arrive. I should mention that the place wasn't all that busy, so that wasn't the excuse. Fortunately, the quality of food and presentation was top notch, so it made up for the somewhat shabby service.
I was asked to book a reservation for lunch for five somewhere close to bloor and yonge. We arrived and were all thrilled as this was the same restaurant we had Christmas lunch last year and the food was excellent. We were not disappointed. We were all so pleased ! We have decided to make this restaurant our annual gathering. ;0)
A group of 6 of us, went to Signatures for a Sunday brunch. Fabulous menu, will appeal to everyone, and imaginative. A lot more than "bacon and eggs". Service was also very good. And what a location right on Bloor St. (ROM, Gardiner Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, shops in Yorkville and Bloor St, Varsity Stadium), across the street from the Bloor-Danforth line, half a block from Yonge-University line. It has everything going for it...perfectly meeting place.
My wife and I had not been to Signatures before. In truth, we booked a reservation because of its proximity to Koerner Hall on a cold, rainy evening. Upon entering Signatures, we were taken by the muted understated elegance of the dining room. Cocktails, dinner and service were excellent. As good as any downtown dining room and better than most. We will definitely return.
My friends and I enjoyed our dinner before a concert at Koerner Hall. The service was attentive without being intrusive; the meal was delicious (pickerel was cooked to perfection) without being precious; the wine choices were interesting without being overwhelming - and the chef was most accommodating of our special requests. We were able to relax and chat, but our waiter knew when we had cut it fine and had to dash after a leisurely hour and a half. We will be back!
The service was attentive, the food not as good as I remembered. The scallops were excellent, the accompanying risotto not particularly good -- too watery with not enough rice. Similar problem for the kale salad -- not enough kale. The wine selection by the glass was adequate if not very exciting. The in-house made truffle was very good.
