We went to celebrate a birthday. Our table was ready when we got there, and next to the window so we had a lovely view. Our dinners were excellent and the servers attentive. We will return.
I was after reading some of the reviews; however, my wife and I had a great experience. Food and service were outstanding.
Chose the Signature Grill for a graduation dinner. The plate size was very small for the price. The service was very good and they accommodated me with a complimentary dessert for my graduation. They also accommodate food allergies. I was just expecting a bit more. We frequently visit Rita’s kitchen at the Marriott at Camelback Inn. I highly recommend them if you are in the Phoenix area.
Great food. Nice variety of drink options. Everyone was very attentive
Bad services
Excellent food and pretty good service. Views of Tucson in the horizon are great. Great convenience if you’re staying at the hotel otherwise pretty far from the city
Enjoyed a very nice family dinner with amazing food, relaxing ambiance, and prompt service. I would definitely recommend the short ribs and Gouda grits. The cocktails are authentically crafted and the beer and wine menus were excellent. The churros with mango dipping sauce are a must! We very much enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return!
My sister and I decided on a nice dinner for her visit here. Nick was our server, and he was fabulous. Made suggestions when we asked, was there when we needed him and was so pleasant! Wilson, (the manager, I believe) was also amazing, talking to us about wines and just, again being wonderfully pleasant. Our meal was delicious and we had a great time.
Thanks
The view of city was fantastic at night! The food and service was perfect, from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommended.
Our party grew from 12 to over 20 and they handled it with issue! Thanks!
My wife and I have been to Starr Pass many times, usually to sit out on their beautiful patio, enjoy the view, have a drink and some snacks. This was the first time we decided to try a full dinner. The Signature Grill did not disappoint! Food, service, ambiance - all great. I had a filet mignon special that was as tasty as any I have ever had. My wife had grilled ahi tuna that was splendid. It was a cool, rainy night in Tucson, so we were seated inside. Can't wait to go back when the weather is more Tucson normal, and enjoy another great meal seated on the outside patio!
Loved the posole and salad on a cold wintery evening after a long drive!
This is a great resort to go and dine at or just sit outside and have a drink and enjoy the view of the city below. I've been here a few times before for both and have always had a great experience . On this night, I went there to celebrate two birthdays a few days apart and was not disappointed. The food at the Signature Grill was prepared perfectly and the service was outstanding. The highlight of the evening was when the waiter delivered to our table two plates the chef created with a sample of almost every desert offered on the menu. The birthday celebration was one I will never forget. Great job by the entire staff at the J.W. Marriot Signature Grill!
Our food was fantastic flavorful, beautifully plated and perfectly prepared
The food here just gets better and better each time. The complementary pecan sesame lavosh is addictive and could ruin your dinner if you eat too much. We love sitting on the porch to watch the moon and the stars. The burgers and sweet potato fries are really good, and the spicy pickles are killer.
Great server because of her pleasant personality, we experienced a wonderful dining experience.
The hotel entry staff were very polite, the overall feel was nice. You can be dressed up or resort wear and fit it. The food was great and the outdoor atmosphere with fire pits is a must.
this was my grand daughter's 18th birthday and her first time at the restaurant. the appetizers were great (we had five!); our waiter, Joseph was kind and informative and the chef, Carlos even came out to meet us -- it was a great time for us. will definitely plan to come again.
We started back coming regularly here because the food has improved and so has the decor. There's an expensive burger on the menu (because of the bacon fat fries) but you can order a regular Angus burger with regular fries for $5 less, and it's still really good, especially the sweet potato fries. I can't say enough about the pecan flatbread that comes to each table - fabulous! Good enough to ruin my appetite by eating it all before the meal comes. Their desserts were very good in years past, but we're always too full by that time.
We'd forgotten how good the food was here. They've even improved the bread basket, which was already pretty good - the pecan flat bread's still there and it's absolutely wonderful. We had the house burger, which is not on the menu but should be - it's cheaper and plainer than the $21 burger they do have listed, but still very good, and so are the sweet potato fries. I love the new decor - very modern and chic, especially the white chairs.
Good food, too loud for conversation. We skipped dessert to head to the lobby bar which was quieter.
It was an early dinner and there were only 2 dinner tables being waited on. We were a party of five celebrating 3 birthdays. Nothing was really outstanding regarding dinner other than the waiter was very attentive.
We celebrated our anniversary here. Service was excellent, food not so much. Ordered Ceasar wedge salad and shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. The salad dressing made this dish very disappointing. The hot chipotle type dressing did not mesh well with the anchovies. The entree was attractive but rather flavorless. My husband - on a whim - ordered a very expensive hamburger with bacon fries. He enjoyed the burger and fries, although the fries were scant in quantity. We received a beautiful chocolate dessert for our special occasion which was delicious. The best part of the meal. Unless you're willing to spend a lot of money for a great hamburger, would not recommend this restaurant.
Great place, great food, but prices are higher than desired.
Our server was very attentive in the beginning. With the exeption of bringing a merlot when we ordered a fume blanc, she was great! Apps came quickly & entrees were served, but then she disappeared! We sat with our plates for at least 10-15 minutes before we saw her again & she got us fixed up with to-go boxes. Then we waited for dessert menus, then we waited more for the port! The food was good but not great.
We had high hopes as the resort itself and its other restaurants are excellent. However, we were forgotten after the appetizers and when the filet finally came it was way overcooked, something I would not have expected for a pricey resort restaurant.
Of course the JW Mariott is a spectacular hotel with a stunning view. We were disappointed by the food, however. The pasole soup was barely lukewarm when served and the portion small. It tasted good but it would have been much better if served hot. The crab gordita was poorly named as it was a small amount of crab paste inside what appeared to be deep fried plantain. It was so oily and rubbery that it was as inedible as it was unattractive. Can't imagine what the chef was thinking with this dish. My wife decided to have a Caesar salad with meat added...but the salad turned out to basically be a half portion despite being told by the server that it was "entree" size. The service was ok and we will give Signature Grill again, but this visit was a bust.
We had dinner here and then lunch. Both times the food didn't match the description. I sent the food back at the second meal as it just didn't match and what I got was not very good.
The menu is mostly the same, but the new furniture, lighting, and ambiance are certainly more upscale now. Not sure how appropriate for kids since this is the hotel's main restaurant, but it's beautiful. They brought back the Southwest salad - yay! One of my all-time faves, and they kept the pecan flatbread - delicious! The burger is still good, still the same, but overcooked this time - I've always ordered medium rare, but it usually comes out medium well. It's definitely worth checking out.
The pecan flatbread was very good.
It was my friend's 65th birthday and I had taken him to the resort as a special occasion. The first thing that was unique was the bread basket. The items included were original and so tasty. We then ordered two filets. The presentation was beautiful and the meal was delicious. We hope to come back.
My fiancé and I tried four different appetizers: cream of mushroom soup, quest fundido, shrimp, and crab cakes. Everything was bland. The shrimp would have been excellent if it hadn't been seasoned with some earthy seasoning I couldn't pinpoint. It definitely didn't appease either of our palates. The soup was lumpy and not creamy. The crab cakes were mostly crab (a good thing) but very thin and lukewarm. The cheese dip reminded me of velveeta and nacho cheese. I thought it would have a lot more depth of flavor, having five different cheeses. In addition, the first waters brought to us tasted like baking soda and one of the wait staff said someone must have hooked it up to CO2. Overall, great views but lackluster food, especially for a resort. The table next to us raved about the filet but for $36 that had better be good!
Don't expect a quiet, romantic evening. There will likely be kids running around and the bar scene underneath the restaurant can be a noisy one. If I were to go back, I'd go back late, after everyone is sleeping. On a positive note, the servers are friendly but not cloying. If there is not something to your liking, they will go out of their way to fix it. Definitely pricy for what you get.
Unless you are staying at Star Pass you might not find this place, but Wow what a find. The food was excellent and the views gorgeous. I had Ahi Tuna and my husband had scallops. Both entrees and the scallop appetizer are worth a repeat. Even the burgers looked fabulous.
My wife and our family has visited many times. Marriott is always excellent wherever we travel. We live in Tucson and enjoy a meal frequently at the resort.
The breakfast brunch was fabulous. Everything you could want, fresh, well maintained and servers stayed on top of all our needs . Would recommends to everyone.
This experience was uncomfortably bad. The steak was Luke warm, burned scallops and the roasted corn was covered in a thick aoli that was bland. The risotto was thick and flavorless. Not good.
Amazing views
I went there with my wife for the first time for dinner. We ordered appetizers and wine and all three were excellent. The waiter was very professional and courteous. I ordered the New York cut steak medium rare and my wife ordered a fillet mignon medium. Mine was cooked to temperature but hers was overdone. Our waiter put in another order of the mignon steak and it came out too quickly and sure enough it was very rare. They refired it and it came back charred and by then I had already finished eating my steak. The waiter took the steak off our bill as expected. It was mother's day weekend with lots of families. A group of kids were running back and forth through the restaurant without being reprimanded by their parents or the staff working there. I will not return to this restaurant and I will not recommend it to my friends or family.
The food was cooked to perfection and of course tasted delicious. WE had been there on Christmas, so we knew to expect an imaginative menu. WE were not disappointed. The brought me a pot of Decaf, which is another plus in my book, since I guzzle it. My son's Iced tea was refilled often and promptly. WE saved room for dessert and were not disappointed. It was delicious and not a gigantic portion, just enough.
