Offering spectacular, picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean, Sierra Mar restaurant at Post Ranch Inn is a farm-driven restaurant that celebrates the coastal bounty of Big Sur and our neighboring communities. Our dishes are centered around the dialogue of balance: on the plate, between sea and land, with sustainability always in mind. Selections from our Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning wine list enhance the inspired cuisine.

We have a family-style lunch experience for $85 per person. Our dinner experience is priced at $185 per person. Lunch and Dinner is available to the general public, however space is limited and reservations in advance are required.

Non-hotel guests will be welcomed at the gate house no more than 30 minutes prior to their reservation.

Overall great experience. The view of the restaurant does all but for the price of the food, I do feel like you are paying slightly close to Michelin star rated food. If taste absolutely matters, there are other great fine dining options for the price. Also presentation of the food is great but doesn’t scream out the visual presentation of the high end fine dining experience.

We love Sierra Mar, we went here and checked into Post Ranch the day after we got engaged last year. We were back this year for our anniversary and made a note of it in our res, and reminded the host, but we didn’t even receive a congratulations or anything. We asked if they still served lattes at lunch and the host told us no, but after our lunch they did ask us if we wanted any coffee/espresso with dessert. The view and ambiance are amazing, the food was good but not very notable, it’s a pre fixe menu. Our app was a deconstructed hummus and carrot plate, which any way you spin it isn’t very fancy even with local produce. Our baked chicken and steak was great but we expected more. The dessert, a coconut panache was good but quite small. It was hard to flag down our waiter. It was a beautiful meal but we couldn’t help but feel like it was missing something to be worth the price. I hope we get better food and service next time!

The food was just okay—not worth the high price. The service could definitely be improved. My mom was taking a photo of me, and a waiter came over to complain, claiming we shouldn’t take pictures of guests or staff. This didn’t make sense, as I was the only person in the frame. On the positive side, the view is beautiful if you’re lucky enough to get a window seat.

Sat outside. The shared appetizers were very good. We really enjoyed the burger and the daily catch. The coconut panna cotta was incredible. The service was on point. Overall we had an excellent time and would visit again.

We were seated right away at a window seat with fabulous views. The wait staff was professional and timely. Each course was delicious and the timing perfectly paced. The food was flavorful, served at the appropriate temperature. The only complaint was the additional and rather inflated charges for coffee and tea served with our dessert.

The restaurant resembles a cafeteria. Air conditioner blowing to the point that most put on jackets. The servers , for the most part were unprofessional and uninformed regarding the dishes. It didn’t seem we had a waiter dedicated to our table as it switched constantly between three who didn’t seem to know the chronology of our courses. All of the courses contained an overwhelming amount of pickled vegetables. (Both salads and even smash burger ). They even brought a soup , “ a gift from the chef” that was basically clear liquid with marinated artichokes. ( They must have had a surplus of artichokes to get rid of.) The view was stunning and that is basically what we paid for at our $194 lunch for two without drinks and before tip! Skip it! There are plenty of similarly stunning views accessible from both hiking trails and roadside turnouts along the Big Sur coast. And also great restaurants like Deetjen’s Bug Sur Inn and Ventana amongst others.
