   World class views and cuisine, knowledgeable and personable staff; attentive, but not overly so. Brendan visited with me at table to ensure that my experience was exceptional. Kudos to all for a job well done! I’ll be back!

   Good food with incredible views. Could have used some background music. Vey quiet on patio. Service was good but confusing and a language barrier. He kept thinking we ordered the wine flight and tried to pour it for us two different times. Also served one of us a beer we didn’t order and then it was on our bill, which he corrected. We were only offered the price fixe menu I guess because we were not staying on property? Good once in a while treat with the views.

   Wow! Everything about Sierra Mar was perfection! From the impeccable service to the beautiful presentation and flavors of each dish, we will definitely be returning! Even before we arrive, Maria was so accommodating and patient as we were running quite late and had difficulty rescheduling our reservation online. Maria to the rescue! And she save us the coveted corner window seat for our special celebration! Brendan made sure we got complimentary champagne for our anniversary and took great photos of us, even taking us outside for the perfect backdrop! Tony was our server and he was THE BEST!!! We ordered the prix fixe lunch and everything was scrumptious! Tony made menu accommodations and had a great sense humor, making our meal so much fun! And to top it off, we strolled down to the chef’s garden and the sous chef, Tim, took the time to educate us and let us taste some of the seasonal veggies and herbs! What an unforgettable experience!    This is truly a unique dining experience! 1000 feet above sea level in Big Sur with breathtaking views. The food and service are both great.

   Tasting menu is the only option. For the cost at a Michelin restaurant you are paying for that extra which here is the panoramic view which is stated clearly on their site as the USP. As that is the case make sure you are in a seat where you can view the sea. Unfortunately we were plonked in a table in the corner where my view was of the bar only and everything was behind me. For $500 meal it is not worth it. Smaller issue is the wait to be served which is hard to understand considering it is a set tasting menu. Alongside getting put in a table with no views it did not make for a great experience and again when the cost is of a Michelin restaurant. Had much better overall experiences in other Michelin restaurants. Food was good for what it was but again you are paying for the whole experience which was poor. If you are going request to be seated with the views otherwise it is just not worth the time and cost.

   Our experience at Sierra Mar, a fine dining establishment at the Post Ranch Inn, was unfortunate. While I cannot fault the service or the location, the food did not live up to the restaurant’s impressive reputation. The first course, consisting of vegetables and a spread of hummus and tomatoes, was truly forgettable. My main course was a steak that was acceptable but not special. Instead, the food served was disappointingly lackluster. We had high hopes for this restaurant, which has garnered many positive reviews. My experience unfortunately fell short of my expectations. It is a shame that a restaurant known for its incredible location and service cannot consistently deliver on the food front.
