   We were seated right away at a window seat with fabulous views. The wait staff was professional and timely. Each course was delicious and the timing perfectly paced. The food was flavorful, served at the appropriate temperature. The only complaint was the additional and rather inflated charges for coffee and tea served with our dessert.

   Great food. Loved the Oysters! Food and staff were excellent. My wife and I went there for our Anniversary and had the best time.

   The restaurant resembles a cafeteria. Air conditioner blowing to the point that most put on jackets. The servers , for the most part were unprofessional and uninformed regarding the dishes. It didn’t seem we had a waiter dedicated to our table as it switched constantly between three who didn’t seem to know the chronology of our courses. All of the courses contained an overwhelming amount of pickled vegetables. (Both salads and even smash burger ). They even brought a soup , “ a gift from the chef” that was basically clear liquid with marinated artichokes. ( They must have had a surplus of artichokes to get rid of.) The view was stunning and that is basically what we paid for at our $194 lunch for two without drinks and before tip! Skip it! There are plenty of similarly stunning views accessible from both hiking trails and roadside turnouts along the Big Sur coast. And also great restaurants like Deetjen’s Bug Sur Inn and Ventana amongst others.

   A 5 star setting with 3 star food & 2 star service, luckily the wine list is excellent although none of the staff had a clue about wine. Overall very underwhelming despite a big reputation.

   Another exemplarity experience at Sierra Mar. From the clear views on this warm coastal evening, the tasty drinks at the bar, to the attentive service and delicious dishes, all were absolutely perfect and without reproach.
