Generally very good. Braciole was outstanding. Our server was a recent transplant from LA, which I found interesting. I found the Restaurant Week panna cotta rock hard and not up the the quality of the rest of the meal. If I found myself in Pittsburgh I'd try Sienna again - but I'd definitely pass on the Panna Cotta!
My only complaint was that we had a very small table for 4 so it was very crammed when we got our appetizers.
In all points it was a good but unremarkable experience. Appealing pictures of dishes on the websites have nothing in common with the dishes that were served to us. The food was bland and nothing really impressed and make a mark in your memory so you'd want to come back for more. Just another touristy trap spot.
Reservation process worked without a hitch, we were seated immediately. We sat outside on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is sloped and the chairs were metal, so a bit uncomfortable. Ordered the salads, they were fresh, lots of ingredients and the dressings were very good. I ordered the bolognese, the pasta was chewy and the sauce was a bit overbearing and bitter. My friend ordered the clam linguine. The clams did not come in the shell and were clearly NOT fresh. Very chewy and not palatable. With so many great foodie options in downtown Pittsburgh we were disappointed in dining our one meal on our way through at Sienna unfortunately.
Waitress was not personable at all. It was almost felt that we were a nuisance or a bother to her. Then when I went to pay with the corporate credit card she actually smiled at me and was somewhat pleasant. I can honestly say I’ve never felt so uncomfortable from a server before.
Our server, Zoey, was outstanding. It is few and far between that you experience her level of professionalism. - friendly, knowledgeable, inobtrusive.
Lunch service was quick
Our reservation noted a request for outside seating. It was a beautiful day. The host set a lovely table for us in advance so we could enjoy the day.
This was our first visit to Sienna On the Square. Everything was excellent....the food, our server, the ambiance....Excellent! We'll definitely go back the next time we're in town!
We were visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend and simply found Sienna On the Square by chance...and we were quite pleased we did.
The food was excellent. Our server, Isiah, I believe, was a pleasure to work with. He was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He provided detailed descriptions of our options, which were quite helpful.
We will recommend Sienna On the Square to anyone we know planning a visit Pittsburgh; or to anyone we encounter who happens to live in/around Pittsburgh.
We have enjoyed Sienna on the Square in the past. It’s got a great location, a fun vibe, friendly and knowledgeable servers, and well-prepared, tasty food. The only negative in the past was a somewhat cliche Italian menu. Now, the menu is fresh and creative without abandoning the classics. We really enjoyed the zucchini toast, classic Caesar salad, and scallops served on a risotto with fava beans and chanterelles. Really delicious dinner!
Another fantastic meal at Sienna. It is one of my favorite restaurants downtown.
Great venue and fantastic food. I was there two weeks in a row for business lunches with clients. I would highly recommend it
Sienna never disappoints. Everything we tried was excellent. We hope to be back soon.
Love Sienna and go as often as I can....fresh and delicious!
Everything was very good. Food was good, drinks were good and the service was good.
Royal was a superb waitress, the scallops with chanterelle and fava bean risotto was divine, and thank's to all of boss's lunches out and the Open Table reward program, I was able to subsidize my evening out with a coworker so neither of us had to break the bank. Really a delightful evening.
This was my first visit to Sienna and I was surprised at the quality of the food. Great food, excellent service and a convenient location to eat prior to the theater.
I love this restaurant as well as Sienna Mercato... same owners. The food is great as is their wines selection.
Wonderful dinner. I had the Lemon spaghetti. Fresh ingredients. Perfect. Terrific service.
Great place for lunch on a nice day. Our food was excellent.
Great food and service as usual. Will definitely return.
Lovely lunch spot.
Pasta dishes were excellent.
Service (Bethany) also exceptional
Yes, we love this restaurant! Food was outstanding. I had scallops with mushroom and fava bean risotto which was just amazing. Everything we had was so good. Service was excellent too.
Good food, great location and great service. I would recommend to anyone and look forward to going back!
Great service, atmosphere and food!
Our first time and my husband and i were truly impressed with the taste and quality of the food. Good service.
Great lunch menu that is flavorful but priced appropriately for a working lunch.
Took boss to linch
Every item was tasty
As always--not a bad bite of food! Had the roasted red pepper flat bread, manicotti, calamari, beef braciole, rock shrimp and crab risotto AND the chocolate brownie for the finish!! ALL awesome.
We went early in the evening at about 6:30 pm, but it started to pick up by the time we were into our first course. We had the Bruschetta, of which we had the chef create half vegan and half regular which basically eliminated the herb creme, but it was very good. Next, my date had the lemon spaghetti with shrimp which she said was very good. Because I am Vegan the chef created an item, not on the menu especially for me. It was a combination of roasted zucchini, yellow squash, pine nuts and arugula on a beet puree. Very good! Service was friendly and accommodating. Nice job!
My friend and I had a lovely meal at Sienna on the Square. A very professional and attentive staff welcomed us with courtesy and quick service. We enjoyed a bottle of Collier Creek Pinot Noir and two delicious entrees. I had the rock shrimp and crabs risotto which was wonderful! If I had to be picky the portion was on the smaller side but was perfect to fill me up! A reply lovely place for a good meal and nice conversation. It was not too loud despite the front being open to the market square night market.
STILL one of my top restaurants in Pittsburgh!!! Never had a bite of bad food!!! They have a unique way of putting simple ingredients together in awesome ways.
We were late due to traffic and seated without a problem but was marked as having missed our reservation at Open Table.
Food was on the expensive side. Pasta noodles were hard and gummy. Marinara sauce was flavorless and their famous meatballs were hard as rocks.
The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. The food was delicious and the service was absolutely wonderful.
Delicious basic Italian food, homemade pasta, cooked al dente!
Service was slow (non existent) and we finally flagged down a server as we needed to get moving. The chopped salads included chopped lettuce, some croutons and a few flecks of onion and tomato. We all should expect more.
