I had been to Sienna on the square outside for business in the summer and liked it so much I decided I would return with my son who just moved to Pittsburgh and my husband. It was perfect for an enjoyable relaxed evening out for the three of us. Service is top notch and very personable without being intrusive. Atmosphere is cozy, hip, inviting, food is delicious including the flatiron steak, the pasta with chicken and marsala cream sauce (was not heavy at all as promised by our server), and the flatbread. Only disappointment was the chocolate cake for dessert which was a little dry and slight grittiness in one or two of the clams we ordered.

All in all highly recommend for an enjoyable evening out and will certainly return. The market square area also is a very nice area for an after dinner stroll in warmer temps.

Thank you Sienna!

Met our daughter while she was in PGH for training. Everything was terrific. Wine, server (Mike), food, but especially NO 70's MUSIC!!!! Too many restaurants play the same classic 70's rock crap. It was refreshing to go to a restaurant with a contemporary play list. Thank you SotS.

Sienna on the Square is a popular Tuscan spot that we had not visited in quite a while. Very close to Heinz Hall. They offer a reasonably sized menu of salads, appetizers and entrees -- not too overwhelming. I had a wonderful pasta dish, and my guest enjoyed the chicken with lemon and capers.
The place does get quite crowded and loud, and you might have to sit at high-top table in the bar area. But, all in all, a good and fun place to dine.

WOW!!!! I am so happy I found this place by chance; and luck was with me and my business guest who were "wowed" with the dinner. Food quality, taste and value were out of this world! Service was friendly, attentive, warm and genuine and gave really good advice without seeming to upsell what ever was in the kitchen. I have the good fortune to eat all over the world, and this was easily in the top 25 of places I have found... might even be a reason for me to return to Pittsburgh. I'm an idiot and missed the one thing that every other person I told I ate there asked me about.... the meatball... so there is my reason to come back. The one thing I missed that I hope they add to the menu is arancini... The wine list was spot on and well currated... I loved that the had an honest-to-red Lambrusco.... and maybe sonmeday they could add a Brachetto ... then I'd say they were in the top 5! Don't miss this place....

Great really doesn’t totally describe our experience. Four of us ate after the Steelers win at about 8:30 PM with the restaurant closing at 9:00 PM but we were treated as if we had showed up at their opening. What a great place for wonderful home made pasta and pasta sauces.

The Sercice was excellent and the staff very kind and friendly. We shared the meatballs, they were delicious, but I wouldn't say the same for my main course. I ordered a flat iron steak medium-well, but it came well, and the taste was ok, for sure didn't worth the 32$! Salad was tasteful but came in a cold plate, I understood it wasn't chopped fresh, it was ready from before...so, didn't worth the 24$ (or around that amount) we paid for the salad. My husband ordered a pasta dish with truffles and it was tasteful. Dessert was nice too (cinnamon panacota).

Mixed review. My cocktail was delicious-- the harvest something and since it was happy hour I had two (it was quite small) the many components came through and it had such a nice mouth feel.

The arugula Salad was huge and loaded with cheese, olives and toasted almonds- I liked it a lot . My friends chopped salad was soggy. For the price of $7 it was worth it. It was hearty enough to share. The bread was fresh and delicious as was bean dip.

My friend had the vegetable pasta and liked it but thought the pasta was 1 minute overdone. I had the scallops with cauliflower and they were cooked good inside but greasy on outside. The cauliflower and sauce were good but overall it felt heavy. We shared the meatball appetizer but we're too full to finish it- it was huge. The meatball was good but we did not like the sauce-- possibly too tomato pasty. Reminded us of old style Italian restaurant.

Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations . Service was excellent. The restaurant has huge front window that was open to outside and outdoor dining but our seat inside near bar was quiet enough we could have a conversation. I could not help but compare it to the last Italian restaurant I dined at that was lighter and fresher.

My boyfriend and I went to Sienna for my birthday. We made an 8 PM reservation and decided to sit outside on their sidewalk upon arrival. The host sat us away from the restaurant, which we enjoyed - just enough privacy for us and it was a very beautiful night in October. Our drinks were fantastic, but the food was mediocre. The menu online was the reason I had chosen to go to Sienna, but it was not updated. The menu we had was not as appealing to me so this was a little disappointing. The entrees we settled on were okay, but for these prices a little more authenticity would have helped. Our server was very nice and friendly. And when she wasn't available at times, other servers had approached us, so we never felt like we were forgotten. Everything was perfectly timed, but towards the end of our meal, I felt as though they were rushing us to leave. We understood that it was a little later in the night, but they were still open and had other guests to attend to. I will be back for happy hour because that looked interesting, but most likely won't stay for dinner.

Their tomato bisque soup is amazing, I wish they offered a larger "bowl" size. The meatballs are incomparable. We go often for lunch, but the ambience at dinner is wonderful. Great and friendly wait staff. This is a "Must Go" place.

I enjoy authentic Italian food and this was a disappointment. On a positive note, the service was very friendly and informative and I did like the ambience. I ordered a salad and had to get clearance from the chef to substitute gorganzola (a real Italian cheese) for Feta cheese. The pasta with seafood was the major disappointment. The seafood was fresh, however the sauce was way overpowering with too many herbs and spices and way too salty! I kept drinking water all night. I mentioned it to the server and she was honest (it's not her favorite dish either). I don't think I'll go back.

We stopped in for dinner before a show, and we both ordered Summer Sangria. We were disappointed because when the drinks arrived, there were no peaches or strawberries in them even though that was in the description. Instead there were grapes and an orange wedge. We wouldn't have ordered them if we knew that.

My friend ordered gnocchi with marinara sauce, which was not on the menu. They were nice to accommodate her request; however, the gnocchi were burnt, not "scorched" as the preparation was intended. When she told the server, the server lectured her about what scorched meant and reluctantly went to the kitchen to see what she could do. She returned with an offer to remake the gnocchi but again cautioned that the dish was supposed to be "scorched," or the gnocchi could go in the pasta cooker. The chef wanted her to know that they would not taste as good that way. She ended up with the latter and said they were good. However, we both thought that the server was a bit condescending in how she talked to us. I was surprised because I've been to Sienna many times, and this is the first time something like this happened. Give them a chance, though, because their food is usually really good and anyone can have an off night.

We were in Pittsburgh to preview several options for our daughter's wedding. It was our last night in town. We walked to the restaurant from our hotel. The atmosphere was fun and inviting, not noisy. They had opened the front doors and windows, since it was a warm summer night.
Our waiter was professional and friendly. Our food was delivered promptly. The menu had just enough choices to be interesting but not overwhelming. We loved our meals.

Siena on the Square deserves a 5 rating but I downgrade them in several fronts. Wine prices are very high, finding 2.4 to 3.5 times price vs over the counter prices for the same wine. Second, although very good, there appetizers are way under sized. For $14, I thought the paltry amount of meat and cheese provided did not match the price. I can name several Italian trstaurants that give much more for the price with wine cost at half the bottle price at Sienna. Now the food was excellent. I had the bucatini with mozzarella stuffed meatballs. Just as good as the first time I had it. Wife had the same meal. Our friend had the buckwheat crab dinner but wasn't crazy about the appearance or flavor. Very unappealing look to the dish. Our other fried had boat pasta and said he would get it again. Finally, the table was the right size for two people and they crammed 4 of us in. All night we played games trying to find room for each dish and drink.

Everything is good. The food, the service, enjoyable place to dine. Only negative is the
wine pour is not very generous for the price you pay for a glass of wine. They also will
not bend in the kitchen. Wanted 1 house salad split. No problem to split the salad, just
will not do it for you. If you want to change anything about your meal...forget it. Absolutely,
no changes or substitutions. Not very customer focused as far as the kitchen goes.
