Sienna On the Square
Mother’s Day. Always a great experience- Mom’s request but would have been my choice as well
Service was exceptional. The table had a slight wobble, and before we knew it, someone was over to correct it without us saying a word. When I finished my salad, I accidentally placed my silverware on the empty plate. Moments later someone appeared with new silverware without me asking. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience. Some of the best service we have experienced in the city and the food was excellent! Will definitely be going again soon.
This restaurant lived up to my expectations as I carbo-loaded for the marathon. The flatbread appetizer was excellent.
The lamb ravioli was very delicious, as was the starter salad with the goat cheese and arugula (can't remember the name of it but it was really good). The large meatball was also very good, although I would have liked to have had more cheese inside...it seemed a little skimpy to me. But the flavor was excellent anyway.
Salads were super fresh, and home made dressing was fantastic.
Good meal, getting out from the kitchen was a little slow. Menu is very small but interesting choices.
Happy to see the restaurant has been updated. The food is always very good. And, usually, the service is great. I will go back, but was disappointed with the service that day.
Loved the new booths and lighter colors! The food was excellent with some excellent surprises with the meat and cheese tray and the olive oil spread for the bread. The wine list was not overpriced and had excellent quality of the Super Tuscan, Chardonnay, and white blend we tried. I will be back.
This restaurant has gone down hill since first opening. It used to be fit for foodies and is now catering to those who have an expectation of Italian food equivalent to the Olive Garden. They made a huge mistake changing the menu. Not very exciting, atmosphere used to be more upscale and is now casual, too brightly lit and poor taste in music for this type of restaurant (Billy Ocean, Pat Benetar..) I came to celebrate a special anniversary and there was nothing special about it.
The service was outstanding. The food was good and the ambiance what nice. Sienna is a nice spot for a romantic evening.
This was our first visit to Sienna on the Square, and we had a great dinner before the show. The calamari was delicious with that homemade sauce it came with, and I ordered the meat and cheese board, which was fun for a change. Wine was overpriced but good. All in all, a lovely evening!
Great food and service. Covenant parking. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
We picked a very busy Thursday night. We ordered mussels. They were very bland. The cod was flaky and tasty, but the base starchy grain was inedible. My wine was not as good as boxed wine.
Our servers were all efficient and pleasant. My companion said the salmon was good.
I probably will not return.
They were busy— outer waitress was also acting as a bartender. We were a bit in a rush and it was hard to get our check and pay in a timely manner. Food was okay—not much chicken on my salad though, which for $17 seemed a bit much.
This is truly one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! Ambience, food, service, and location make it the perfect place to meet friends or have a romantic dinner for two.
I am disappointed with the renovation. Sienna used to be cozy and dimly lit with dark wood and neutral tones. Now all is white, stark and very bright with booths where the high tops were. Though good for some, I feel the space no longer has the unique charm as in the past. Service was wonderful but I feel the menu has less hearty, Tuscan style pasta selections and the polpette no longer has as much cheese resulting in a harder and less appealing consistency.
I always have a great dinner at Sienna on the Square. Food and service are impeccable.
We had theater tickets and had to wait over an hour for our food which we probably would have enjoyed were it not for the fact that we ate it so fast in order to get to the theater on time. If there was a problem with our order, it would have been nice if our waitress had told us, but that never happened. Based on this experience I will not book another reservation at Sienna.
We love Italian food so we try Sienna about every 18 months to see if it has improved. To start, it has a great happy hour (till 6pm) with half price drinks and select appetizers - $5 prosecco is a good deal! Bruschetta with ricotta, tomatoes, pork belly, pistachio and balsamic glaze was very good as well. Entries subscribe to the theory that more ingredients are better. The Lemon Spaghetti (I assume that there is lemon zest in the pasta dough but I certainly could not taste it) was smothered in a green sauce that overwhelmed the pasta and the shrimp. Spinach pesto with roasted shisto peppers sprinkled with chopped basil. Must be some other green stuff in the kitchen that they could have added! Roasted salmon was cooked as requested and was good as were the sunchokes and carrots. The rest of the accompaniments were left on the plate. I prefer good italian food where the quality (not quantity) of the ingredients are the stars of the show. There are several much better dinner choices within 2 blocks of Sienna. Maybe we will try them in another year or so.
Excellent food. Stuffed meatball appetizer was particularly good. A bit pricey.
Excellent service. We had theater tickets and the waiter did an excellent job of getting us out in time without being rushed. Wine prices seemed high relative to quality. Good options for vegetarians but portion size was in the smaller side.
GREAT MEAL AND SERVICE. WILL RETURN IN THE FUTURE.
Great evening of drinks and dinner prior to going to the theatre. Food superb, waiter was very helpful with descriptions of our food choices. My favorite restaurant!
Great food, service and ambiance. A little bit overpriced but experience was great!
Atmosphere and food were great. Definitely recommend. Will be back.
Our first dining experience in Pittsburgh, Sienna on the Square was excellent. The calamari appetizer was crisp and delicious, and our entrees of Risotto and Cod were very well plated, seasoned excellently, and had excellent taste. We did order the signature meatballs on the side. While very good, they did not quite live up to the hype that the waitstaff presented. That being said, the atmosphere, location, very courteous staff was a delight, and we will return again during our next visit to Pittsburgh. The team approach to service was well noted, and appreciated.
Drue provided excellent service.
Very good food and excellent service.
Sienna never disappoints with the menu selection or taste of the food. Outstanding dishes...highly recommended.
Favorite place in Market Square...delicious, cozy, excellent service, and fun dining experience!
Four of us went to dinner for a friend’s birthday on a Saturday night. The service is excellent, so was the food. We are still raving about the bruschetta- which can be made without the bacon. If you order anything, order that. I had the gnocchi which was incredible. Two at our table ordered the shrimp risotto which they complained was too salty and one admittedly didn’t eat much of the entree as a result. Overall a great dining experience and we will be back.
We shared soup: spiced butternut squash, which was very good; a mozerella stuffed meatball, about the size of a baseball, which was also very good and Gemelli, which I know know is a pasta, in this case, undercooked, but with short rib and a sauce that was excellent.
Already did...see "my husband & I took our daughter there..." comments in separate post. Bottom line is we're already talking about what we'd get next time!
Really amazing. One in our party is vegan, and she had a hard time identifying much on the menu that she could eat. Eventually the chef offered to "cook for her." The dish the server offered was gorgeous--and our friend all but licked the plate. The dish that the chef created should be on the menu! We really appreciated how accommodating the restaurant was--it made everyone's dinners taste better. Thank you so much, Sienna, for being so helpful and accommodating. Fan for life!
No enough rock shrimp in the rock shrimp risotto. The flavor was delicious.
The brownie was dry and not very flavorful. Maybe if it had icing or the mousse was placed on top of it.
The special appetizer was to die for, and the smoked salmon appetizer was very highly rated by me. The salmon entree had a tomato based sauce, which I did not enjoy so much. Overall, a very good experience.
Without hesitation. The service couldn't have been better and the food was delicious. Just a treat.
The food was delicious! We were very pleased with our experience
Great meat and cheese tray! Had the linguine with smoked mussels. It was very good though the flavor of cream sauce was a little flat. My friends had the gnocchi and sienna chopped salad which they liked! They served Prosecco on Tap!!!
