Food was great wine was reasonably priced
Service was good; food marginal at best and disappointing. Over cooked veal scaloppini, meat and cheese board thrown together out of a plastic container; pizza? Cardboard and salty. So disappointing. Used to be our go-to place for out of town guests, if not AlForno.
Fool me once, it’s your fault; I won’t be fooled again. We won’t be back. Whatever changed is significant! Too many other options.
Bartender was fantastic and the food was excellent
Party of 6. Great apps. Special salad of the night. Meatball. Calamari with balsamic. Short rib tortellini with chicken and gorgonzola. Penne with pesto. Veal medallions. I had veal chop with mushrooms. Good chop but sauce too salty. Banana cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert. The waitress Gaby is SPECTACULAR. Front room is noisy. I would sit in the back next time. AND I will be back. Great experience
Love Siena! Always a great meal. The veal porcini is amazing. Thank you
After being a loyal customer of Pane e Vino in Providence, we decided to try Siena for a change. All I can say is that Pane e Vino remains my preferred option for Italian food in Providence. At Siena, my wife had the swordfish and found it to be over-salted. Mine was a pasta special that was presented as including lump crab meat and shrimp. Last I checked, the search party is still out looking for the crab meat. Just the opposite of my wife's swordfish, I found my dish and the lobster arancini appetizer to be very bland. In summary, the food was good but not great. I'll be returning to Pane e Vino next time or maybe try one of the newer restaurants that I noticed.
Food was excellent along with the service. Wine list was adequate. There were also special wines not on the menu. For dessert, you must try the chocolate bread pudding. Heaven!!
This is the first time we have dined ar Siena in Providence having previously eaten at Siena in East Greenwich. We we're not disappointed in either location. The food quality is excellent and the service superb. And all at a price that will keep you and your wallet happy. I highly recommend Siena if your looking for dinner out with one or more people.
Good food and service. Prices a little bit high. Ambience too noisy due to people high level voice.
Delicious as always. Seated at street window in bar area. Super loud. Only knocks, food took forever, and icy cold.
The ambience was ok and the food was pretty good. The short ribs were outstanding and the bolognese was quite decent. Chicken Milanese was a bit dry and unexciting. We were excited to go there and satisfied overall but not wowed by our experience. We came from out of town and maybe it was Federal Hill that was the most disappointing. We expected a high end, unique experience and got what we can get practically anywhere in the country.
The service was good but the food wasn’t as impressive as expected. It is a clean place.
Food was excellent. Service was friendly and accomodating. Would definitely go back.
Great Food, service excellent!!!!
Fantastic service from start to finish. Delicious food, selection, and good portions.
Excellent Meal, waitstaff friendly and accommodating
Great meals! Good service! We enjoyed our meal.
Great food and service. We were casual and felt comfortable but you would also feel comfortable if you were dressed up for a special occasion.
We save Siena on Federal Hill for special occasions or for a Sunday dinner before music at the Square(Michael Dutra hopefully). We celebrated our 48th Anniversay Wednesday, August 29 and Siena did not disappoint. Table was ready, service was prompt and efficient, and our requested meals were accommodated.
It was surprisingly a busy night and as a result the restaurant was full and a little noisy. Much of the energetic conversation came from one nearby table of 4. However, Siena’s many pluses outweighed one boisterous fellow!
Siena is a must go on Federal Hill but there are also locations in Smithfield and EG. One of my favorite restaurants mainly for the grand meatball and veal parm!
The banana cheesecake was the best dessert I've had in my life to-date.
Great food! We have been to the Providence restaurant twice now and have had a great meal both times. We had an 8:15 PM reservation that we arrived on time for and waited 20 minutes for our table. Besides the Wait, it was a great dining experience.
Food was Great Giant Meatball was incredible!! We went for my Birthday and on the reservation had stated it was a birthday and no one Acknowlege that we were there for a special occasion to be quite honest it was so loud in that area we couldn't even hear the waiter speaking to us and we couldn't talk across the table without saying WHAT EVERY 5 SECONDS other then the noise level the food was fantastic
Not a disappointment. Amazing service, delicious food.
Where to start...had a 7 PM reservation and requested a booth. Got there at 7 PM and were told our reservation was at 7:30. Checked Open Table and nope it was at 7 PM. Then told we couldn't have the open booth we requested because it was for 4 people. Were shown to a small table near front of restaurant. We didn't have apps or salad and waited 45 minutes for both meals. Salmon and fruitti di mare were both overcooked and had to sent back the dry overcooked shrimp and after another 15 minutes received shrimp that were cooked better but were slimy and white. Just a bad experience from start to finish. Felt so unappreciated as patrons and in general the restaurant has been going downhill - WON'T BE BACK.
I especially appreciate our waiter (Ron?) checking on an ingredient because of an allergy.
Had we not been at a corner table, we both feel the noise level would have made it difficult to converse easily. Otherwise, perfection!
Great atmosphere and service! I told my waitress about an allergy and she immediately told me all the precautions to be taken in the kitchen and remembered/addressed my allergy the whole time we were there. The food was amazing as well. The night I ate here, there was classic rock playing- some of my favorites! It was a great spot for me to introduce my parents to my boyfriend!
Excellent service. Our meal was held up because, according to the waitress, the chef was unhappy with te way it was being turned out. It was lightly fried cod in panco served on top of corn salsa. The salsa was cold so it really took away from the fish, but I enjoyed it. The waitress was terrific and turned down the AC at our request - it was up very high and we had come in drenched from the heavy rain.
We all enjoyed our meal and our server was delightful and very competent.
Service was wonderful and the food was delicious! The appetizers and drinks were especially tasty! Not only was the food delicious, the staff were friendly and eager to please! An overall wonderful dining experience!
This has always been one of our favorite restaurants but our experience on Friday was very disappointing. The service was exceptional but the food was less than average and the tables are way too crowded. Wait staff could barely maneuver are the tables to serve the guests. As for the food, the crab cakes were tasteless and the lamb chop lacked any sear or color.
Overall excellent experience. Food, atmosphere, and service is amazing,
We have enjoyed Siena on many occasions. When friends came up from Hartford for an early Sunday dinner, we all agreed that we would dine there again, since they had enjoyed it so much the last time they were in town. Once again, we had an excellent meal with many fine menu choices. Everyone was quite satisfied and there were several "doggie bags" to be enjoyed the next day. Put this on your "must visit" list for Federal Hill, especially if you would like to dine earlier on Sunday afternoon.
Great location. Friendly staff. Atmosphere very relaxing and very clean. Wide range of options on the menu and always great specials. Unbelievable wine selection and the drinks are the best around.
Excellent as always! Food, service, atmosphere. Best in the city!
Great evening get-together with cousins from three states. Food was excellent, service was also great thanks to Susan (we nicknamed her “Season”) who knew the menu well, was friendly but not overbearing. While I’ve read other reviews saying that this place is noisy, our party was alone in one of the rooms that is usually used for private parties, so we found conversing very easy. Enjoyable evening!
I have been here several times before and really enjoyed it. We stopped for dinner while driving home to CT from Cape Cod. There was a function going and it slowed the kitchen to a stand still. We were there for 2 hours with only ordering the meal. No appetizers or dessert. We also went for very long periods without any attention from the waitress. Our drinks were not replenished in a timely manner. Our wine arrived as we were close to finished with the meal.
Great food, waitress was superb, definitely recommend.
Was recommended but we were disappointed. Our swordfish was overcooked and dry. The server was perfunctory, the noise level was too high for the 4 of us to talk quietly (often difficult to hear the other person). Overall I MIGHT try it again but I wouldn't recommend it now, that's for sure.
First time visitor … not exactly what I expected … BECAUSE IT WAS EVEN BETTER! Food was outstanding, we shared a antipasti board, the awesome veal porcini and one of those crazy meatballs, all while enjoying a half bottle of Brunello and then a bottle of Caymus Cab. Great food, great service, great menu.
Food was good but the noise level made table conversation very difficult
Great food and service...on of my favorite restaurants!
