Sidney Ratings and Reviews
The charred calamari appetizer with polenta was amazing...great char but very tender. The 10 oz, sirloin with chimichurri on a bed of grilled Heirloom tomatoes and roasted potatoes was outstanding. The halibut filet with a sweet corn sauce was one of the top 3 sauces I have ever tasted. The service was attentive We went on a Tuesday evening.
We enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner here. From the appetizers to dessert, we received a great experience of sights, sounds, tastes, and best of all, couple time to enjoy a fine dinner in an inviting atmosphere. The waitstaff provided excellent service. The food was superb, enjoyed every bite.
We were greeted inside the main door by Sarah. She then seated us for outside dining as requested. She served us a glass of champagne for our Anniversary night out. The service was excellent, the foods were superior as always, the noise was very low outside and easy to enjoy conversation. This is one of our very favorite places for special dining as well as casual drop ins. I highly recommend Sidney. We look forward to a return trip soon, perhaps my birthday.
As always, this is our go-to restaurant while we are still in withdrawal from Philly restaurants. Chicken liver and Foie gras was light, and fresh. And the salmon was perfect, as always. Ballaast Point Grapefruit Sculpin IPA from San Diego was unexpected, and right up there with east coast IPAs.
Six of us (all women) had a lovely evening celebrating the birthday of a dear friend. Following a long day of antiquing in nearby towns, we arrived tired and hungry but were immediately perked up by the wait staff and hostess who were exceptionally accommodating. We had our drinks on the outdoor deck where we enjoyed the delightful garden, flowers and water feature. Some of our drink requests were not on the menu but that did not deter the hostess from going the extra mile; finding the ingredients and providing some beautiful and unusual cocktails. We then made an effortless move indoors for dinner - again thanks to a very attentive wait staff. Our table waiter was most helpful in providing answers to questions about the selections and efficient when taking our orders . As he brought more drinks and appetizers to our table, we were updated on the status of our expected entrees. Everything seemed to move in a timely manner and when served, our dinners were absolutely delicious! Food portions were very adequate and the presentation was well above average. Each of us enjoyed a luscious dessert and agreed that we could not have chosen a better restaurant in which to celebrate and enjoy a wonderful and festive evening. We hope to return soon for another pleasurable dining experience.
Overall a very good experience. This was our first visit to Sidney. High marks for food, service and ambiance. our 2 minor complaints. despite the virtually empty dining room at 5pm the host seated a couple with an infant at the table right next to ours...why? also our server responded to every single menu selection we made with "excellent choice" making it sound a bit boilerplate. but the flawlessly prepared dishes and cocktails certainly outweighed those concerns. we will definitely visit Sidney again and recommend it to others.
Sidney in East Berlin is the best kept secret in the south central Pennsylvania area. The food is amazing and the service is a step above in every aspect. Not only do you get an amazing experience but the food makes it worth any kind of distance you might have to travel to get there. Sidney is a step above.
I took my mother to Sydney's for Mother's Day. I typically love their menu options, but I was not happy with the choices for Mother's Day. The gorgonzola cheese with dates appetizer was very heavy and tough to chew and the swordfish was very heavy on the pepper. The brisket and desserts were delicious. There was a lot of wait time between courses. The atmosphere was wonderful and we had a great server.
This has always been one of our most favorite places to go out for great foods. They have outside seating for when the weather gets nicer and an excellent wine list. We highly recommend Sidney for special dates and occasions or just a night out with that special someone in your life.
We were greeted immediately by the maitre de who was dressed very modern/hipster cool! Loved the shirt - sorry didn't get his name. But very courteous and seated is immediately. We had reservations and were there on a date night. Table was set with proper utensils and very cute trinkets (rose in the center along with candles). The ambiance feels like you're dining in a classy tavern gone back in time. Definitely ask for the bread. AMAZING! The corn bread was TO DIE!!!!! Ordered a glass of red wine (delicious) and was surprised by a gratuitous amuse bouche of fried risotto !
Then came the dinner. My husband and I ordered the exact same dish of crispy organic chicken breast and leg confit 🍗! Yummmmm. Savored every bite! We will be coming back and saving room for dessert next time.
