We are from out of town, and we have been here three times, every time we come to Gettysburg. We have enjoyed every meal and the exceptional service.
Usually, I'd give Sidney at WR 6 outta 5 stars. Only gave it 4 for Tuesday evening as I tried something new on the menu (proscuitto and something with two tiny pieces of crustini) and it just was not to my taste. Not Chef's fault, it just was not the right thing for me to order on this particular evening. My husband's meal was stellar, as was my dessert. Sidney is our all -time favorite restaurant, and Gettysburg is SO LUCKY to have this gem right on the edge of town.
Very expensive buffet and foods that should have been hot were only warm. Dessert table was messy. Tables placed very close and made for increased noise -- I now know all bout 2 couples kids' infertility issues and another table's church. The carving chef was very personable. This was for our 40th anniversary which also happened to be Mother's Day.
Mother’s Day brunch was reasonable. Food was ok, not great, but good for a brunch. Golf course dining room.
I came here with my parents for their special Mother's Day menu. The menu online was well marked with what was gluten free, dairy free, etc... However the food at the event was not labelled at all. The food itself and the service was great - I would recommend they put little note cards (especially for a special menu like this) noting what the food is and its dietary offerings. I've been here once before and sat outside and that was great. This time it was rainy so we were inside, but it was still pleasant.
We have eaten a Sidney's several times. The food is absolutely fantastic and we always make a reservation. With that said, I was little disappointed with the cocktails this time around. And sadly, my guests and three other parties waited almost ten minutes at the podium before we were even acknowledged by the staff. When we were seated we did not receive menus, nor were we acknowledged for another ten minutes or so. This has happened once before, and on both occasions, our dinner took place on the eve of a special event that the club was preparing for. This time it was a Mother's Day brunch and the last time was for a wedding. I believe that the service suffers when they are trying to multitask. On that note, our waitress was extremely polite and pleasant and did apologize for the delays. And I know that we will dine there again because the food is exceptional.
We made a mother’s day dinner reservation for my wife on Saturday night. We waited for almost 15 minutes in the lobby with two other groups of guests. I called ahead so they knew we were coming. When the staff realized we were all waiting the hastily came out to seat us. They brought my family to the back room where other guests were dining and we sat there for another 10minutes with no drinks and no menus....watching other people eat. So we got up and left. Staff was useless and unprofessional. No hostess or greeter. One waitress was shocked that we were leaving because she was clueless to why we would be upset. Complete waste of time. Next time we come to Gettysburg, this will be the last place we go. Save yourself the trouble and make a reservation someplace else.
We always enjoy our meals and celebrations at your establishment. Whatever you serve is excellent; however, your vegetarian choices are getting slimmer.
Our visit to this restaurant is always a great experience.
Food was wonderful, service very good. But we sat outside and the lawn people just kept mowing and
Blowing their machines we could not even hear our selves talk.
VERY DISAPPOINTED and we brought friends and they were unhappy
We gave this a try while in town for my birthday. It was a little challenging to find the correct parking lot, but managed. We sat in the dining room at the rear of the building, it was nice enough. Most tables had cloths, but some were bare - found that a bit different. The food was excellent, the service was good, and the prices were fair. The only critique I have is regarding the paper menus - they are not reflective of the vibe of the place. We would not hesitate to return.
Always a pleasure and never disappointed. Always something very special and enjoyable.
This is our second visit.
The service was great but the main courses disappointed.
The steaks were below average and the salmon was just average as well.
The menu has not changed in quite a while.
Its a pretty setting and i suspect the chef is talented but the quality of the cuts of beef and fish were just
Mediocre. Considering the price, it should be better.
Food 101 is of better quality and value.
The food was very good; obviously a great chef in the kitchen! The waitress was very awkward—not approachable. The restaurant is a prior country club, with a setting on the golf course. There is very little traffic at this restaurant, and apparently there’s only one or two Uber or lift drivers in town. It took us 45 minutes just to catch a Uber driver back to Gettysburg. The night was very enjoyable though, nice evening, good weather and we did not mind sitting outside and waiting for the driver.
Although it was a quiet place with low energy, the food was top notch which is why we came.
Food was novel and deliscious. I had salmon. My friend had brisket. Both deliscious. Chef brought a small appetizer out on a complementary basis. The soup and the Brussels sprouts appetizers were to die for. Need reservations.
Had a great dinner. Food and ambiance was excellent. Great fine dinning place.
Service was spotty with rather long absences throughout the evening. Diners were split between the outside porch and the bar area. The friendly and apologetic wait staff was too few to handle all the tables in two locations. Service is the difference between an extraordinary evening and an OK evening. That said, the food and wine were awesome.
Excellent time but had to ask for basic table offerings like salt and pepper
Went for Easter brunch and the buffet was very good with lots of food options. Our only complaint was that we were charged for a bottle of water when we said still instead of sparkling. Guess we should have indicated "tap"...
It’s a lovely setting, near the former golf course, serving creatively presented and delicious food. Nice service. A favorite, for sure!
Our first time at Sidney will not be our last. The service we received at the bar was superb, and the food was just as phenomenal. We can’t wait until our next dinner at Sidney.
We’ve been to Sidney numerous times and have had a great time at each. As usual, the service was stellar with real heads-up attention. Only real issue was that a serving of monkfish was somewhat overcooked and wound-up a little dry and didn’t really pick up on the seasonings in the dish. Peta and hummus, along with Brussel sprouts and mushrooms were all to share and everyone fought over the last bits. My Pekin Duck was absolutely the best I’ve ever had — tender, flavorful, and just the perfect temperature, on the rare side. My whipped potatoes we so perfect, I almost thought they were fake! My wife’s serving of swordfish with white beans was superb, I was told. The fish was moist and picked up the light seasoning very well. A generous piece of Black Angus sirloin required a serious “doggie-bag”, and a serving of Coho salmon was nicely paired with spaghetti squash and a thyme au-jus. Everything was washed-down with a wonderful, modestly priced bottle of brut sparkling wine. Perfect! No desert at Sidney, however. We retired by my place for some fruit and glasses of Taylor Fladgate. Happy-happy!
Always a wonderful experience. We always come back every year for our anniversary, we we're so spoiled when we lived in the neighborhood and could have more often. We look forward to the drive up and the meal every year. We are never disappointed and service is always incredible, as with the meal!
Sidney at Willoughby Run is a best of class restaurant with veteran culinary Master Chef Niel Annis at the helm. The inventive seasonal menu never fails to impress. This trip I tried the 8oz sirloin with a bacon and potato gratin, winter greens and burgundy wine sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare the way I like it. Dessert was double chocolate cake. Another winner! I have eaten here at least 10 times since the restaurant opened and the quality, presentation and service are always exemplary. 👍🏻🥇Highly recommend!
Sidney's at Willoughby Run is always a wonderful experience. With it being on the outskirts of Gettysburg you can enjoy a quiet evening, food prepared to perfection, presentation is very eye appealing and service is never rushed.
It was our first time there. Food and service were excellent.
Greeted warmly at the door. Seated immediately. Took a long time to get started with drinks. Much longer to get our food ordered. Food took so long contemplated leaving. Maybe 2 servers for 10 tables.
Manhattan pricey for Makers Mark. Martini was was fine. Roasted Brussel sprouts were excellent. Monkfish main dish way over cooked. Seared tuna salad was very good.
Food was excellent!!! Top notch one of the better fine dining experiences in Gettysburg
Service was extremely slow and at times seemed non existant
Our son goes to college in the area and when we visit we look for new dining options on the area- this is a great find, good food in a pleasant setting. We all liked the lobster ravioli!!
Everything was perfect! The server was extremely helpful and informative. The Ravioli and Grilled Monk Fish not only tasted amazing but were perfectly fulfilling. The timing was perfect. The amazing, WARM, COOL, AND ARCTIC CAPPUCCINO was absolutely scrumptious and was the ultimate dessert to top for an overall incredible dining experience for our date night! I highly Sydney At Willougby's!
What a disappointment! This restaurant came highly recommended from friends and I thought it would be a lovely pre-Valentine dinner. Not so. I questioned why we were seated in the informal bar area (placemats instead of tablecloths) and I was told that "the servers like to fill up the bar tables first." What happened to the customer's preference?
We are an elderly couple, obviously dressed for a special evening out, and we were given a bar area table seated next to a two-year old!
The service was generally fine and the food was reasonably good (not extraordinary as I had expected), but this was not fine dining. For the money, the Inn at Herr Ridge is preferable in every way, including food.
As always, Sidney didn't disappoint - the food was super fresh, my burger cooked perfectly and the desserts not only looked beautiful, they tasted that way. Four of us had the burgers, all cooked differently and we were all happy with the results. Our one 'outlier' kept raving about her chicken wrap and home made chips. The rest of us all enjoyed our french fries.
The food and its presentation was excellent. However the ambience of the restaurant was poor. We arrived at a table and were seated in an inappropriate space with no table Linens. The wait staff tied to be friendly but was very unsophisticated compared to the food offerings. It takes away from such a gourmet meal to be in a setting that is very mediocre.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, it did.
Terrific experience, as always! Friendly and knowledgeable server made it a memorable dinner.
Whenever we want something different or special, we go to Sydney at Willoughby Run. There is always something unique on the menu plus some standard fare. The flavors are wonderful and the presentation is excellent. The desserts look too good to eat but they are delicious. The drink selection is varied with something for everyone.
As always food was delicious. Excellent service with understanding of one guest's food sensitivities.
Consistently excellent food& service! A dining oasis in a tourist area (Gettysburg) with no other decent restaurant! Lunch and dinner selections reliably good, with caring wait staff. Kudos to chef Neil Annis . Also like the original Sidney in East Berlin, PA.
