Sidney at Willoughby Run Ratings and Reviews
Whenever we want something different or special, we go to Sydney at Willoughby Run. There is always something unique on the menu plus some standard fare. The flavors are wonderful and the presentation is excellent. The desserts look too good to eat but they are delicious. The drink selection is varied with something for everyone.
Consistently excellent food& service! A dining oasis in a tourist area (Gettysburg) with no other decent restaurant! Lunch and dinner selections reliably good, with caring wait staff. Kudos to chef Neil Annis . Also like the original Sidney in East Berlin, PA.
The ambiance of the dining room could have been improved if there had been space without the bar in the room. There are two very large banquet rooms off the small dining room/bar that I'm sure those are used for events. But it would seem that somehow a small area of one of those rooms could be used for the regular restaurant dining?
This was our first time here, combining a birthday celebration event/dinner that was nothing less than "Top Gun" in all aspects of dining experience. Our waitress provided service during our meal that was second to none along with some jovial conversation that kept the evening spirited. From appetizers to desert the food superb, with wonderful selections to choose from.
If I were to add a recommendation for consideration to this review, it would be to add lighting to the Sidney at Willoughby Run sign located at the entrance on Rt. 30, so that it's visible to patrons in the evening who aren't familiar to the area.
We look forward to our next visit.
My wife and I chose to have dinner here for our Anniversary, after reading a blog review by a friend. We enjoyed the entire experience. We were seated in the bar area, which had some nice light jazz playing in the background. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. As it was our anniversary we were treated a few small extras compliments of the chef, which were greatly appreciated. My wife and I chose the Brussel Sprouts from the sharing menu, and they were fantastic. The butternut squash, walnuts and macerated cranberries included in the dish really set this apart from plain brussel sprouts. My wife chose to build her own burger, which she said was one of the best she's ever had. I had the Panko breaded Barramundi with Potato gnocchi and fresno chili sauce which was fantastic. The desserts were just as wonderful. My wife loved the Vanilla Creme Brulee with mixed nut biscotti, and enjoyed every bite of a cheesecake with fig compote, roasted hazelnuts, and a honey granita. We will certainly return, and have already recommended this spot to friends.
The food was the best it's been in a long while - the barramundi was perfection! - but the service was lackluster. Waitress hadn't tasted most of the menu items we asked about, nor was she personable. The waiter who had the table next to us was more useful since he described the specials to his table and we could hear, where our waitress could barely remember them.
My husband and I ate here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we are both so glad we did. The staff were all very nice and attentive and we were greeted with celebratory champagne for our anniversary. We were very impressed by the plating and presentation of all dishes as well as the amazing taste as well. We both enjoyed the beef brisket and it was tender, and melted in your mouth. The sides were mashed potatoes and carrots and even the sides were just incredible. The flavors all complimented each other and made for a very well balanced meal. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate cake and creme brûlée and both were spectacular. We will definitely be returning the soonest chance we get. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Great food! We enjoyed the sirloin steak and the barramundi. It’s clear you have a very talented chef!
The ambiance is best described as “country club”. It’s nice, but doesn’t have much ‘character’ - kind of sterile decor.
One thing that bothered us a bit is that the waitress didn’t tell us her name. (This was the case at all three restaurants we’ve eaten at in Gettysburg on this trip so far, which we thought was strange).
Fabulous!!!! We took a trip up to Gettysburg to see friends and went to Sydney's for our anniversary dinner. I had let them know ahead of time that we would be celebrating and right after seating us, the server came out with two glasses of champagne to welcome us and thanked us for allowing them to celebrate with us. Food was spectacular and service perfect. If I could give the restaurant 10 stars, I would!!!
I took my husband to Sidney for his birthday on Saturday night. The ambiance was lovely. We sat in the center of the room and it was very nice. Several other tables were there. The noise level was nice. Nice music, just the perfect type of music and the correct volume level. We had an appetizer(pâté) trout and salmon. 2 glasses of wine. Everything was delicious. Good portion sizes and excellent service all around We will go back. ASAP!
Once again, we had a wonderful dining experience. Best caeser salad we've ever had to start. I had the barramundi and husband had steak. Both dishes were absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back! We both got the double chocolate cake for dessert which was also amazing. If weather permits, sit outside as the view is beautiful
The chef here has an incredible palette. The dishes are complex and delicious. I personally enjoy all the fish varieties and the way they are prepared. The atmosphere is not my favorite - Feels uninhabited and cold at times. If the weather is right, dining outside is my favorite location. Staff is tentative and knowledgeable of meal preparation. I keep returning, which is the best compliment a restaurant can have.
What a pleasant surprise! The place looks like one of those country club dining rooms where you have to eat the food because you've already paid for it. We almost left after being seated in a large, charmless catering-type room where a large party was occupying 2/3rds of the space. I am so glad they found better seating and that we stayed. The meal: fresh oysters with perfect chill and toppings; poached halibut over spinach with just the right texture and delicious (and unusual) garnishments; a peachy thingy with creme fraiche that had us scraping our dishes for every last remnant. Our server was a young man who exhibited the serving skills of someone much older. The young woman at the bar also served a martini that was way, way above what was expected. The food is terrific! We would be there a lot if we lived closer!
