I live in Santa Barbara and drive to Los Olivos for the fish tacos at Sides. They are the best I've had. My wife had the albacore salad. We both had coffee and I had a glass of Chardonnay. Everything was up to their usual standards, but they did have one hiccup this time. Our coffees and my fish tacos were on the tepid side. I guess they were sitting in the kitchen for a while before being brought to the table. The coffees were brought by a different server from the tacos, so I don't think it was a server delay. Also, we were there before the lunch hour and they were not yet super busy. This was atypical and I will definitely be going back. All of their food is good and their specials can be quite creative.
Be advised that their portions are quite large, so be careful how much you order.
Have eaten here many times and we always love their food and service! Everything was delicious!
We always make a point to dine here when in the area. Superior food and great service in a unique environment.
The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. However the menu is not very impressive or interesting. The burger was good but the steamed bun Vietnamese tacos were greasy, and overall items were quite expensive for the portion.
Great food, great fiends, great fun!
We came here for my birthday brunch and had a great experience. The food was amazing (confession: we actually ate lunch there the day before too), the bloody mary’s were on point and had a nice chunk of bacon steak in them. They have a dog- friendly patio and we’re super accommodating in making sure our dog had a nice cup of water and a piece of bacon too. Both of the meals I had there were fresh, unique and delicious. We will definitely return here on our next visit.
The fried pork tenderloin salad was the best thing we had. The Ruben had good flavor but the pastrami was really fatty. The fried chicken sandwich was good but nothing to scream about. But overall really good experience.
We have enjoyed everything we've ever eaten at a Brothers' restaurant so were really looking forward to Sides. Our waiter wanted to be elsewhere as he couldn't be bothered to provide any input on the menu items, giving a weak "people like it" answer to any question about various items.
Bacon steak is - or should be - the perfect food. This was good, thick cut bacon. Better than breakfast grade, but Nueske's beats this by a good margin. Brussel sprouts were tasty; different than the usual honey and balsamic that everyone is serving. My wife had a great burger; my hammered pork sandwich was good/not great, a little too sloppy to eat. Our daughters had tacos which they enjoyed but again, didn't rave about. Nothing on the dessert menu caught our eye so we headed out.
We had been hearing great things so we were disappointed; not sure I'd go back as so many other good options in the area.
Great service and top notch food. Highly recommended!
Mother’s Day. They had a busy day so had run out of a number of menu items. Food was good but waiter not so good. I’ve had better meals at this restaurant.
New York steaks were only average. Based on past dining experiences it was a disappointment.
Nice Mother’s Day outing to Los Olives included an early dinner at Sides. Service was superb, food choices somewhat limited. The dishes we had, pork belly tacos and lamb sirloin, which was a special, were tasty and well prepared. We will return if in the area again.
I tend to eat here whenever I’m in Los Olivos. Grilled cheese sandwich is awesome.
Always great food and service . Love the hammered pig sandwich! I was able to make a lunch reservation this time, so there was no wait to be seated. It was well worth my 1&1/2 hour drive.
My meal was delicious (diver scallops), and it was a great spot to spend my anniversary with my boyfriend. My only downside was that the patio doors were open it got pretty chilly inside. I am sure on a warm night it feels great.
Food is excellent. I highly r commend this restaurant.
Friendly and attentive service. Excellent food quality.
If you are wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley, consider eating at Sides at least one of your meals. Excellent menu and excellent service
We very much enjoyed our entire experience and will definitely return.
There were 6 of us on Saturday night. 4 people loved their meals and the other two both had the "pig" salad. Apparently it was awful. It was a piece of breaded pork tenderloin (I believe) that had absolutely no flavor and was a complete disappointment. The burger, the rock cod and the scallops were all excellent.
We have eaten here many times over the years. Last night was the worst. Their were four of us in our party. Two of us had meals miscooked. One was corrected fairly quickly. The other was a disaster.
They scraped the fries off his plate and returned them to him to munch on while they corrected his undercooked burger. The rest of us were 3/4 of the way through our our meal when his arrived. They delivered the burger sans fries.
No effort made to correct the problem. All meals charged at full price. Left the restaurant feeling like they could care less. BAD JOB BROTHERS!
Best for lunch!!!!
Clean and quiet. Service was great, really good food. As my husband says "you know it's good when you can't eat it slow enough"!
Always try to stop here when we are in Los Olivos. Good solid menu and attentive staff. The food is always above average.
Solid place. We hit it up every time we are in the Santa Ynez wine country and it never seems to disappoint. We are fans of the steamed bao buns, the brussel sprouts, and the whole sandwich board. Don't discount this place for lunch. It is pricey, but solid.
This place was great. Very accommodating. Had a later reservation and they were able to fit us in early. The bacon steaks are out of this world. A couple of those could be the main course. All food cooked as requested--very tasty. Will return.
We were wine tasting in the area and stopped in Los Olivos at Sides Hardware and Shoes for lunch. The service was good, food was scrumptious and the atmosphere is rustic, historic and cool. They smoke and cure their own bacon, and it is incredible. You can find bacon steak, pork belly and bacon on most of their dishes. Loved it!
Once again we were camping in the area and visited Sides 3 times! Happy to see they have brought back some of the dinner entrees on the menu along with their delicious burgers and salads. The Hammered Pig salad is my favorite salad and the scallops were especially good with the brothers bacon!
This was our second visit to Sides Hardware and it did not disappoint.
Seemingly simple, down home dishes, with local ingredients that are hearty, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The food was served right as it came out, which was another plus. We each had the carrot soup and the fried pork sandwich. Each were EXCELLENT.
Dessert was good, just not as amazing as the mains. The cocktail we had was on the sweet side; however, they have an excellent local wine list.
We will be back! Be sure to make a reservation- even for lunch. Wait was around an hour without one.
This restaurant never disappoints. Great food, great service and great local flavor and ambiance.
We thoroughly enjoy lunch at Sides. They're very accommodating for dogs , if you eat outside on the terrace. The ahi tuna salad is delicious. We'll keep coming back!
Food quality was outstanding considering it was a $18 Burger....
Everything about this place is great. Totally recommend.
Excellent place. Delicious food and fantastic service.
Super-good experience for New Years Eve dinner. The two corner, window tables offer an awesome view outside onto the covered & heated outdoor table area along with the entire inside portion of the restaurant, so try to get one of these.
The food is very tasty & well prepared with attention to detail.
They called us as we were pulling up 1 min past our reservation (thus we had 14 more min to arrive) and said we can't accept your reservation, after we drive all the way out there from Buellton. We dined there the next night ( I know, I know) and had to send my steak back twice (ordered med rare and it was solid brown) then it came out all cold and bloody.
With that said, once the steak was corrected, it was good, and the other dishes were good.
The location is not for everyone, but if you like small towns, farm to table vibe eating here - in Los Olivos is general will be a treat, if you show up well before your reservation and clarify how you want your meat/meal prepared. :-)
One of the best in the Valley for lunch
Probably our 10th time here and it never disappoints. It's always first on our list when we visit Los Olivos. Amazing brussel sprouts, honey chicken to die for and BACON!
Been here many times food is always amazing can’t say enough of this place.
