Great service and top notch food. Highly recommended!
Mother’s Day. They had a busy day so had run out of a number of menu items. Food was good but waiter not so good. I’ve had better meals at this restaurant.
New York steaks were only average. Based on past dining experiences it was a disappointment.
Nice Mother’s Day outing to Los Olives included an early dinner at Sides. Service was superb, food choices somewhat limited. The dishes we had, pork belly tacos and lamb sirloin, which was a special, were tasty and well prepared. We will return if in the area again.
I tend to eat here whenever I’m in Los Olivos. Grilled cheese sandwich is awesome.
Always great food and service . Love the hammered pig sandwich! I was able to make a lunch reservation this time, so there was no wait to be seated. It was well worth my 1&1/2 hour drive.
My meal was delicious (diver scallops), and it was a great spot to spend my anniversary with my boyfriend. My only downside was that the patio doors were open it got pretty chilly inside. I am sure on a warm night it feels great.
Food is excellent. I highly r commend this restaurant.
Friendly and attentive service. Excellent food quality.
If you are wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley, consider eating at Sides at least one of your meals. Excellent menu and excellent service
We very much enjoyed our entire experience and will definitely return.
There were 6 of us on Saturday night. 4 people loved their meals and the other two both had the "pig" salad. Apparently it was awful. It was a piece of breaded pork tenderloin (I believe) that had absolutely no flavor and was a complete disappointment. The burger, the rock cod and the scallops were all excellent.
We have eaten here many times over the years. Last night was the worst. Their were four of us in our party. Two of us had meals miscooked. One was corrected fairly quickly. The other was a disaster.
They scraped the fries off his plate and returned them to him to munch on while they corrected his undercooked burger. The rest of us were 3/4 of the way through our our meal when his arrived. They delivered the burger sans fries.
No effort made to correct the problem. All meals charged at full price. Left the restaurant feeling like they could care less. BAD JOB BROTHERS!
Best for lunch!!!!
Clean and quiet. Service was great, really good food. As my husband says "you know it's good when you can't eat it slow enough"!
Always try to stop here when we are in Los Olivos. Good solid menu and attentive staff. The food is always above average.
Solid place. We hit it up every time we are in the Santa Ynez wine country and it never seems to disappoint. We are fans of the steamed bao buns, the brussel sprouts, and the whole sandwich board. Don't discount this place for lunch. It is pricey, but solid.
This place was great. Very accommodating. Had a later reservation and they were able to fit us in early. The bacon steaks are out of this world. A couple of those could be the main course. All food cooked as requested--very tasty. Will return.
We were wine tasting in the area and stopped in Los Olivos at Sides Hardware and Shoes for lunch. The service was good, food was scrumptious and the atmosphere is rustic, historic and cool. They smoke and cure their own bacon, and it is incredible. You can find bacon steak, pork belly and bacon on most of their dishes. Loved it!
Once again we were camping in the area and visited Sides 3 times! Happy to see they have brought back some of the dinner entrees on the menu along with their delicious burgers and salads. The Hammered Pig salad is my favorite salad and the scallops were especially good with the brothers bacon!
This was our second visit to Sides Hardware and it did not disappoint.
Seemingly simple, down home dishes, with local ingredients that are hearty, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The food was served right as it came out, which was another plus. We each had the carrot soup and the fried pork sandwich. Each were EXCELLENT.
Dessert was good, just not as amazing as the mains. The cocktail we had was on the sweet side; however, they have an excellent local wine list.
We will be back! Be sure to make a reservation- even for lunch. Wait was around an hour without one.
This restaurant never disappoints. Great food, great service and great local flavor and ambiance.
We thoroughly enjoy lunch at Sides. They're very accommodating for dogs , if you eat outside on the terrace. The ahi tuna salad is delicious. We'll keep coming back!
Food quality was outstanding considering it was a $18 Burger....
Everything about this place is great. Totally recommend.
Excellent place. Delicious food and fantastic service.
Super-good experience for New Years Eve dinner. The two corner, window tables offer an awesome view outside onto the covered & heated outdoor table area along with the entire inside portion of the restaurant, so try to get one of these.
The food is very tasty & well prepared with attention to detail.
They called us as we were pulling up 1 min past our reservation (thus we had 14 more min to arrive) and said we can't accept your reservation, after we drive all the way out there from Buellton. We dined there the next night ( I know, I know) and had to send my steak back twice (ordered med rare and it was solid brown) then it came out all cold and bloody.
With that said, once the steak was corrected, it was good, and the other dishes were good.
The location is not for everyone, but if you like small towns, farm to table vibe eating here - in Los Olivos is general will be a treat, if you show up well before your reservation and clarify how you want your meat/meal prepared. :-)
One of the best in the Valley for lunch
Probably our 10th time here and it never disappoints. It's always first on our list when we visit Los Olivos. Amazing brussel sprouts, honey chicken to die for and BACON!
Been here many times food is always amazing can’t say enough of this place.
Really enjoyed the food at Sides, we had pork belly tacos, amazing Brussel Sprouts, butternut squash soap and burgers. Everyone was raving. The portions are pretty big so order accordingly, I originally ordered the hammered pig salad and changed it to the soup because the tacos and sprouts were very filling.
The food was of very high quality. Bacon Mac & Cheese was great as was the Brussel Sprouts
. Fried chicken was very tasty too. Cocktails were very interesting and delicious. Highly recommended.
Mid-week lunch after lovely wine tasting and chatting with owner at Sunstone Winery. Ate on very quiet front porch. Beautiful weather. Salad greens and dressing lovely. Good mushroom burger. Pork cutlet over breaded and over done.
We always enjoy our lunch and dinners at Brothers. Food is great! Noise is a bit much, especially for us OLD folks, but we just smile at each other and pretend we can hear.
Stumbled upon Sides during a recent visit and was very happy we stopped in. Matt was our waiter and was great.
An excellent choice when in the area. Indoor and outdoor seating in a renovated hardware store. Nostalgic and delicious with a menu with enough fresh choices to please everyone.
Sorry to say, Sides just isn't what it used to be. The last two times I've been there (we are local), the food has been mediocre. It was deathly quiet both times, once a Saturday night. You would think they could at least put some music on so you can't hear every word the table nearest you is saying. So disappointing, because this used to be a real go-to fun spot, both for us and for guests who come to town. I know they changed chefs recently, maybe that's the reason. The patio is lovely for warm nights, but I probably won't be back for a while.
We are locals and eat at Sides regularly. We went last night specifically for the fish tacos. When we order we were told no albacore, but they can make them with halibut so we said yes. We ordered martinis, 1 gin 1 vodka. The vodka was supposed to be Hangar 1 plain; the drink tasted off and I commented to the server who insisted it was Hanger 1. A little while later the bartender comes over with a new drink: she'd made the original with Hangar Mandarin. This was error #1.
We ask for some bread, which takes over 30 min to arrive. Error #2.
After finishing the cocktails we want to order wine, but can't for 50 min - no one inquires.
My salad arrives, but no tacos for my wife. We wait a while and I start eating my salad. The server comes over to say the last of the halibut was gone - so no tacos. Error #3. By this time my main has also arrived (before finishing the salad). Error #4. I will not eat unless everyone at the table has their entrees - this is simple good manners. So we wait until her main arrives and I eat my now cold meat.
Undoubtedly our worst experience at Sides. They weren't busy: it was a Sunday evening and there no more than 5 other groups there. And the servers 'comp' of 1 glass of wine was laughable.
We will return, but likely check ahead of time to see if they have what we want.
Excellent food and service! Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and beverages. A must when in Los Olivos.
