Love the food. Stop for lunch every chance I get.
We love this place and come every time we r in town! Amazing burgers!
My favorite restaurant in Los Olivos and Sides ranks among the best on the Central Coast. There are many reasons, besides never being disappointed here, foremost for their excellent cuisine. I love the food, which is always fresh and delicious. The service is also great, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The restaurant in clean, comfortable, and family friendly. I also appreciate the fact their wines by the glass are on tap, and the wine list features most of my local favorites. Whenever I visit, I make Sides one of my first stops.
Best Burgers you will ever eat! Thanks for making great food consistently.
I took my hubby there for his birthday, he loved it so much that we'll be back soon! Thank you for all you do!!
We we're a little late and yet it was no problem. Very accommodating.
I left my reusable straw and the waiter ran out to give it to me. Very thoughtful ❣️
Sides Hardware and Shoes is a one of a kind treasure in Los Olivos. We live in Thousand Oaks but have been there a few times when we visit a couple of wineries and Chumash Casino. I've even driven there just to go there!
The food is unique, tasty...not cheap but quality never is!
Creative menu-wonderful burgers!
I’ve been to Sides for dinner and that experience was amazing. Came back here while my husband and I were in town for lunch...and was pretty disappointed. The food was very bland and the service wasn’t great either. Maybe we caught it on an “off” day.
We were there for Taco Tuesday--three different tacos and each one delightful in their own right and the guacamole salsa was yummy: Bear Battered Avocado taco, Pork Belly Taco, and Ahi Taco. Probably more than you're used to paying for tacos but I'd say that these are unique. Very sweet waitress.
We had a wonderful lunch on the front porch! The food was delicious and our waitress was attentive and very helpful. Can't wait to go back!
This is our go to place when we are near Los Olivos. Great food.
Came here for lunch on Easter Sunday (unintentionally) and had a great experience. Was a little bummed that the Lunch offerings were so different than dinner, but still turned out to be SO good. Thank you Sides!
What a meaty treat! Go starving and expect to leave full. Excellent ingredients paired in glorious ways leaves one's belly full - nap time. They're known for their bacon steak (a super thick slab of bacon--forgot 'crispy' bacon breakfasts, this is a meal in itself). Otherwise, a decent menu, even have salad (with salmon) but at least someone from your table needs to go for the gold. Nice beverage selection as well and cute little patio (4 4-tops) so if you have a pooch, you're in luck! One note - they're so popular they need to be sticklers about their reservation policy - if you come after 2pm without one, you're likely out of luck. They're only open for lunch and close at 3, so book early! No frill inside ambience, you can bring kids but it's a foodie spot so just keep in mind.
Terrible service at check-in. She said they gave our table to someone else claiming to be me, but found another table for us anyway. Went the first course eating with our hands because the server didn’t give us silverware and never returned to the table until main course was brought out. The food was pretty good, but at a pretty hefty price, especially for people from LA who are used to great food. 2/10, which is surprising for all the good reviews we’d heard.
Great meal in the cute town of Los Olivos. Food was delicious and our waiter was very nice. Lots of great menu options.
The very best food anywhere and the service is special as well!!!
This was my second visit to Sides...the location, staff, food and service were all Excellent!
honestly i am obsessed with this restaurant!! what a gem of a find and at such an unexpected location in very small los olivos. i would travel back to los olivos just to be able to eat here again! the food is phenomenal. everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, nice portions. our server was so nice and helpful. this is true cal cuisine with lots of delicious fresh options. i would recommend for all visitors to come here. there is something for everybody. it's a little on the pricey side but well worth the quality of food. looooove.
I drove 2 hours for a fried chicken sandwich. Best damn thing I’ve ever had! Service is always friendly. Reservations are highly recommended and great wine tasting in town! Will be back real soon
This restaurant in Los Olivos is a real find. I’ve tried the tostada salad with albacore tuna and it was delicious, fresh, and generous. I also tried the roast turkey sandwich with guacamole and it too was excellent. My son had the hammered pig sandwich and raves about it. Very inventive menu.,
The door that goes out to patio was staying open, letting cold air in
Best fish tacos in Santa Ynez valley
Long time owners in the local restaurant business know how to do things right. Solid menu and service. Quaint location in small town USA, Los Olivos.
We have been coming to sides annually for more than five years. The service and food are consistently excellent and very good respectively. We began with their signature mac and cheese starter which, we found, was enough as an entree! Absolutely delicious! As a result we decided to split an entree of sea scallops that were superb and cooked rare as we requested. In addition to bottles Sides has "draught" wines that you can order by the glass, or 25cl, 50cl and litre pitchers. Our chardonnay was a perfect accompaniment with the scallops. The consistency of service and food makes Sides truly worth visiting...often!
What a lovely dinner! Sides is comfortable, quiet-ish (so unusual these days!), simply but appropriately decorated with large historic photos. Service was pleasant and thoughtful. We started with the Brussel sprouts (an enormous portion), then shared two dishes -- the market salad and the Kobe Bolognese -- which were split onto two plates in the kitchen. Everything was delicious, including the bread. Cocktails were very good, and the corkage fee was extremely reasonable. Look forward to returning.
It was great. Really loved this place.
My sister and I were visiting Los Olivos for some wine tasting and several friends we told about our trip said we HAD TO go to Sides, and are we ever thankful for that recommendation! It’s a bit of a small place, so you should make a reservation ahead of time (another tip from our friends), or you may have to wait a bit. The good news is that if you do have to wait, there are plenty of shops and tasting rooms to visit while you wait. We had the Mac and cheese, butternut squash soup, and grilled cheese with bacon (we told the waiter we were just going to share everything). Our waiter arrived with all of our food already split for us! Our food was absolutely FANTASTIC and the service was the same. I cannot say enough great things about this place.
Their Bacon Burger is out of this world. I would highly recommend it. But be warned! it is big. We ended up sharing it. Very friendly place. We ended up visiting with people at other tables, (quite unintentionally) We had a wonderful meal and lots of fun,
Excellent butternut squash soup and grilled cheese sandwich with bacon steak on sourdough. And the specialty cocktails were the perfect touch.
We made a reservation and got there 15 minutes early. (We're from out of town) The hostess was very curt and said she couldn't seat us. We were a little taken back by her curtness and went outside to find some shade and wait. That was a bummer of a start. Once we were seated, the waiter was extremely kind and attentive, which we were grateful for. The roasted Brussels Sprouts were burnt, the mac and cheese was bland and the grilled cheese was super greasy and almost inedible. We really wanted to like the food but we left with most of the food uneaten. In all honesty, we can't recommend this restaurant.
Apparently, the location and atmosphere of this restaurant are supposed to be enough to warrant its prices. But that doesn't work for me. The food was ordinary...not bad...but ordinary. The alcohol is, of course, overpriced. But so are the entrees. While it's fun to dine in a place called Hardware and Shoes, it's not fun enough to pay more than the food is worth.
Must get a slice of he Bacon Steak. Also the Fried Chicken sandwich is great and also has a piece of bacon steak in it. Delicious.
When we travel to the Los Olivos area, the first thing we do is book our hotel. The second is booking a reservation at Sides Hardware and Shoes!!! One of our absolute favorites!!!
Service from our server, Ashley, was attentive and helpful. She assisted us in our orders and daily specials. Personable and welcoming, the entire dining experience was great tasting.
Birthday burgers. Absolutely delicious and best burger I have ever had. Wonderful service and
Fresh fresh fresh food. Terrific wine list. Loved it!!
We’ll be back!!
We are Valley residents and dine at Sides frequently. We went on 22 Sept thinking we had a reservation, but I'd stupidly made it for the next day! Note to self: read the reservation confirmation message. The Maitre d' was able to put together a table for us (2) after only a few minutes wait. Great service, thanks!
Brought a close friend with Hubby and me for lunch. We had reservations. It was crowded and mousey, but we PERSISTED. My husband ordered the Hammered Pork "sandwich" with a side salad vs the slaw (he repeated his request TWICE)...but he received the Hammered Pork "plate" (he was not a hapoy camper). I had the soup-of-the-day...very tasty. I also had the Roasted Corn Salad special; the corn was raw, NOT roasted!!! Our friend did enjoy her Cobb Salad except for the blue cheese. Maybe it will go better next time. 🙁
