Sidecut Modern Steak + Bar – Four Seasons Resort Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went there about 1 1/2 years ago for dinner, and our server Damien remembered us and also what we had ordered. We were impressed with his customer service, his knowledge of the menu, and how he personally enhanced the whole dining experience . The food was delicious and we can't wait to go back.
Service was really good but the food were a great disappointment. The steak was so tough I could barely chew on it and the steak tasted bitter from the burnt dry rub seasoning. The seafood were such a waste to be cooked on the grill because again they tasted bitter from the burnt. Even the toast from the mussel dish was burnt. Overall, I do not recommend going there for steak.
The Sidecut restaurant would be an excellent night out but for one thing. It's way overpriced, especially the wine list. A 25$ bottle of wine seems to be 80$ -100$. If you're not on an expense account and even if you were, it just seems irresponsible. The 40$ main course doesn't include a side so you add on 2 sides for a normal plate.
It's a nice experience until you get the bill and then you decide you wouldn't go back. It's a shame.
I love steak and this restaurant is rated top 100 by Forbes so I was expecting the best steak I've ever had. Did I get that? no . but it was pretty good. We were at Hy's the day before so the comparison was fresh in my mind. I asked for med rare and got it raw... well not blue, but near that,,, and I sent it back,, it was still rare when I got it back ,, and it didn't taste like much. It was also more expensive.. Now that said, I was here about two weeks ago for one of their Thursday night bbq's and the spread was incredible ! live band, tons of food and lots of variety,, outdoor seating and a great vibe. I would definitely come again and give it another go with the steak.
Also, to note, the couple beside us on my steak night was celebrating their 51st anniversary,.. they were so cute, so in love still and super friendly. We had a nice little chat -- people around as and staff were very friendly on both occasions that I have been here. Recommend but if you are on a budget and want a guaranteed perfect steak id actually hit Hy's.. Side cut has better vibe and ambiance. Your choice
We had a wonderful time at Sidecut. The service was excellent and the staff went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner memorable. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I had the sable fish which was very fresh, flaky, and mild. My wife had the corn and jalapeño gratin. It had a lovely rich texture. She prefers spicy food and the chef was willing to add extra peppers at her request. It seemed like a simple preparation so I think I will try to recreate it at home.
For dessert we had the Canadian Maple Souffle. It was terrific. It is a small dessert but the perfect size for sharing. Best of all, it is not too sweet. Too many restaurants put too much sugar in their desserts but this is not the case at Sidecut.
If the weather permits, ask for a table outside on the patio. The surrounding gardens and water feature are very peaceful.
Second visit on our annual trip to whistler. Chose because we wanted good quality food and wines. Didn't disappoint - good service again this year. Waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Wanted to sit on the patio but due to the smoke in the air from the fires (far away from Whistler but affecting all BC) the patio was closed. They gave my son and I a lovely table by the window instead. Would go again. Not overpriced and paid what one would expect for a very nice experience.
Sat by the window. Sun was in our eyes so staff were very accommodating in clipping the curtains together to block out any light! Mussels were melt-in-your-mouth delicious but unfortunately the steak was well done when we asked for Med Rare. Nonetheless they were very considerate in splitting some dishes for a couple sharing. The various sauces on the side were an interesting addition. Birthday girl was presented with a complimentary birthday dessert with truffles and fudge- very lovely.
Phenomenal in every way but one. Outstanding steaks, impeccable service (Adrian could work at any Boulud, Ramsey, Etc) and the ambience of this place is warm and wonderful. The sole negative for me was a wine list that was offensive both in its pricing - even of BC wines - and I'm hard to offend!
They lost our order. Took 2 hours. Appetizer (sushi, just have to cut) took 50 mins. Seared foie gras was not even 1/16 of an inch. Had no idea about wine types. Had 5 different servers who did communicate with each other. Manager knew nothing about food. (Didn't even know about foie gras when I mentioned the paper thin serving.
Even though the service was great as is expected in a Four Seasons, it was extremely overpriced. The food was good but the serving portions were very small and I left feeling disappointed and hungry. There was no special treatment even though we were celebrating my 60th birthday.
Was there for a nice dinner with the fellas for a bachelor party before we hit the bars. Staff was great. Shared a lot of laughs with them and they helped take plenty pictures of the groom to be who we made wear a big fluffy ruffled pirate shirt for the evening. Definitely will be back and we will bring the shirt.
Food fantastic as ever, but service on this occasion and others always very standoffish and cold. Plus they got our wine pairings wrong for dessert, having not brought them with the food in the first place and necessitating us to ask for them. Best steak in Whistler by far, but don't expect to be made to feel at home...
We came back to this restaurant for our last night in Whistler as we have on previous visits. Sorry to say it was not anywhere up to snuff. Although the service was good, it wasn't what it was previously. The food took a huge dive backwards. Underwhelming and no better than any other restaurant in town, definitely felt like the chef wasn't well trained. It was an expensive meal at a fancy hotel, and we won't be coming back. The food at Stonesedge and Elements was top notch in comparison. We will likely go to Hy's Steakhouse or RimRock next visit to close out our trip.
Rarely have I encountered such lackluster service at such an otherwise upscale place. Our servers were all apathetic. It was clear they were not happy to be there. The waiter haphazardly placed silverware in the wrong places and told me my steak was something other than what I had ordered. To top it off, the steak itself was under seasoned. This place clearly seems to be mailing it in. Quite disappointed.
