Sidecar Ratings and Reviews
Great service, ambience and food! Good place to have dinner and drinks with friends or go on a romantic date with your special someone! Sidecar has a nice vibe where you can have great conversations and not worry about yelling across the table. Their lemon vanilla cheesecake is to die for!!!
Enjoyed a wonderful night out with friends at Sidecar last weekend. I can't think of another restaurant at this price point that is as good or dependable. Exceptional mushroom risotto with excellent variety of mushrooms and very good concentration. Wine list good with very reasonable pricing. Very nice service as well. Menu would be improved by more seasonal change but highly recommended.
Sidecar is a quaint gem in little italy, that carries an international menu that changes seasonally. The food is extremely well crafted, portions are reasonable, and not over sized. The cost is modest, with dinner around $50 per person including a glass of wine.
The ambiance is cozy, and great for a romantic dinner, or get together with friends.
Tried this restaurant following the high recommendation of an acquaintance this summer. And it didn't disappoint. Meals reasonably priced. Delicious canape spread to start. Steak cooked to perfection. And while I didn't have dessert, my friend enjoyed a perfect chocolate concoction. We couldn't have been more pleased. While not located in my residential area, it's well worth the TTC ride. And will definitely look forward to returning!
Sadly, this will be our last time dining at sidecar. It used to be one of our regular date spots but the service was so poor and the food has really gone down hill. I don’t know if the server was just overwhelmed but we were not asked how anything was at any point during our meal and our drinks sat empty for a long time. We eventually had to ask a support person to order some wine. I found a hair in my risotto and it sat in front of me for 20 minutes because he had disappeared. Rip sidecar. You will be missed.
My husband and I were excited to try this place from the reviews we had read. A few reviews had mentioned the service was slow but I ignored those comments and decided to reserve any way, as the food sounded delicious. Well, that's exactly what happened. Our main course took forever, but was impressed that our server offered to top up my wine as we waited. What I didn't expect was that we were charged for an additional glass of wine when the bill came.
As much as I enjoyed the food, I wouldn't go back because of the slow service.
We had a beautiful family dinner on the back patio. It was quiet, the ambiance was beautiful, and the food was great. It took a long time after dinner before we were approached for dessert and subsequently to pay, but otherwise everything was delicious. We will definitely be back!
I love the food here, but have to admit I was disappointed when they substituted a regular mojito for the badass version I'd ordered without so much as an explanation. They don't appear to be paying quite as much attention to the details as I'm accustomed to from them.
Really comfortable patio with great ambiance. The service was great and there was a relaxed comfort to the whole meal. My steak frites was cooked beautifully and tasted terrific. The mushroom rizotto was also tasty with a generous portion. We'll be back to this lovely place.
We were looking for an early dinner at a good 'local' eatery - not in the convention center district. We arrived a little early and the staff were great, we grabbed good wine by the glass at the bar and moved to dinner a bit later. Staff were friendly and the bar and attentive over dinner. The 1/2 chicken was great as was the short rib fusilli.
Sidecar is a great place for a date. I took my significant other here for a belated birthday dinner and it was both our first time here. The staff is friendly from the get go (on the phone when I called, arrival, throughout dinner, and when leaving) - service is definitely great. We ordered the prix fixe menu, which was the best option for both of us. My partner got the cavatelli, which was AMAZING!!! Would HIGHLY recommend that as I kept stealing bites! I got the half chicken and while it was big and meaty, I felt it lacked a bit of flavour and kick . However, the potatoes were delicious! For dessert, we got the chocolate terrine, which was yummy! We got to sit outside in the patio at the back to enjoy the evening weather and atmosphere, which is beautifully decorated! At night, it was even more cozy because you can see the lights hanging. They even allowed us to stay behind a bit after we paid our bill and before they had to close so that was nice. I would give the food 3/5 stars, but everything else 4/5 stars!
