Side Street Inn Kapahulu Ratings and Reviews
Friends get together. Boneless kalbi was delicious, but overpriced for the amount. Pork chops could be cut a little smaller, but very tasty. Poke sampler was great, whatever the spicy one was , it had great flavor with the right amount of spice. It was packed on Saturday night so the service was a little understandably delayed, however the waiter could have been more apologetic about it. Basic crinkle cut fries cooked perfectly. Overall a pretty good experience.
Thank you Side street!! We came in for your Thanksgiving brunch and had a blast. Didn’t have to cook or serve or play Tetris with our refrigerator with leftovers!! Mahalo to you all. Service was filled with aloha from the door to the table to the valet service It was such a beautiful day.
Pitfalls....here are a few things that could be improved upon... just a few...
1. Dinner plates and entrees wasn’t refilled fast enough.... leaving selection of food minimal
2. Self parking machine was broken unless you had used the system beforehand...otherwise 10-15 online trying to pay for parking is a waste of time
Good thing valet made up for it in service
3. Price....the service fee was well priced!! But the food could have been a little better as well as the desserts for the price we paid.
We will come back no doubt!! And appreciate your hard work on this holiday
Definitely crowd- pleasing! We expected — and got enormous portions of the best fried rice EVER, chunks of yummy fried pork chops, delicious yakisoba, tender slices of smoky pork. Hubby devoured his escargot en croute and shared his ceasar salad (thumbs UP). We are creme brulee fans — and to have LILIKOI creme brulee was a pleasant surprise. Noise level was high due to the football game on the too-many TVs, but didn’t dampen our appetites at all. Service was slow and she had to be reminded about a few missing items...nothing major. Best to bring a crowd so a variety of these family-size portions can be enjoyed.
I am sort of embarrassed that I recommended this place to friends. My past experiences have always been so positive! Saddened to say the food and service leaves a lot to be desired. Used to love their flavorful pork chops which turned out to be bland. Unacceptable especially for $22+. Expected the shrimp scampi dish to be served with (Italian) pasta not egg noodles. The smoked pork appetizer made an appearance at our table towards the end of dinner and only after I asked the waitress if I could cancel it -- to which she replied "the Kitchen may have started making it". It was an appetizer for goodness sake not an entrée.
7 people in our party and each person ordered one to two dishes a piece. It seemed like one person would get a dish, then the next wouldn't come until 5-10 minutes later. Kind of hard to enjoy a family dinner. To add insult to injury, when we got our tab, there was an order on there that we not even served. Instead of asking for it to get removed from the tab, we opted to just pay for it and mentioned it in passing when we left the restaurant. While my party proceeded towards the exit, I lingered behind to hear what was being said and the response was "The Kitchen is so messed up tonight". Not the kind of response I want to hear. An apology would have been nice but alas, it didn't happen. Will just need to try other restaurants for the next outing because this once fabulous local bar/eatery has definitely declined in all aspects of what used to make it a jewel in the local culinary scene.
As always, I took people from the Mainland to dine here and they loved the food. I have never been disappointed when bringing family, friends or business associates here for dinner. It's a great experience from the moment the valet greets you and until he brings your car to you once you're done. Totally impressive.
We arrived an got seated quickly. The restaurant had a lot of guests. I’ve only been here a couple times but Side Street is really popular so Open Table reservations are recommended.
My wife is vegetarian and we ordered the fresh Nalo Green Salad, hot Fries, Yakisoba noodles. These were great! I had the NY Steak with mushrooms and onions on a hot iron skillet. It was tasty!
We’d come back for sure!
