Side Street Inn Kapahulu
Side Street Inn boasts something for everyone from sports lovers to wine connoisseurs with satellite-ready, big-screen TVs to view games and a full-bar with a vast variety of domestic and imported beers (even their own signature "Side Street Inn Rogue Ale").
We come and visit the island about 4x a year. We ALWAYS come in for the Side Street Inn rice, the famous pork chops, and the fried chicken. Our server was on top of everything, and our party of 6 was wanting for nothing! You can’t tell me that another restaurant!
Great restaurant. Food wise and service. I always request a "specific reservation" in terms of location in the restaurant and the staff always abides by the request. Keep it up, guys!!!!!
The food is always as you expect, great tasting. Everything is always good as far as food, service etc. Lately though the food has been coming out slower than usual.
Wonderful food and service. Great local ambience. Will always return here every trip. Great experience that they make available all those residents as well as out of town visitors. Great value, made even more so because the food is so delicious and high-quality. The fried rice from Chinese sausage is a classic just like my mother used to make. The ribs with passion fruit and the pork chops and fried chicken are all standouts- huge portions and great for lunch the following day
The portions seemed to have gotten smaller. It was Chinese New Years so it was quite noisy with the Lion Dance going on.
Wonderful food and wonderful service! Truly a great spot for local food at reasonable prices. Would return when we are back on the island.
We were looking for a good place to relax, have a few drinks, enjoy good pupus, Sidestreet did not disappoint! Everything was great! Highly recommended! Getting reservations on Open Table is a must!
Plenty of food to share! Hugh portions! Best pork chops ever! Tender & juicy! Chinese chicken salad was fresh & crunchy! We’ll be back for sure!!!
Great location, good food, fun environment. Would be a great place to watch football or basketball, a lot of TV screens.
Puzzling that the entrees arrived before the appetizers, even though we ordered them well ahead of the main courses, but still great!
The so many times I have dined here, it was great. This time, I am not sure what it was, but it just wasnt the same. Our waiter took long to greet us, another waiter brought out utensils & plates before we were asked for drinks. Basically each time he stopped by, he took long to return. Sorry but it wasnt that busy when we got there. We ordered their signature fried rice (minus peas & carrots), boneless kalbi, original boneless fried chicken, roast pork poke & sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms came out first, then the fried rice about 6 mins later. Immediately I noticed the rice was shiny. The fried rice was super mushy & extremely oily! I had to return it. Less than 5 mins later a second batch came out but there were peas & carrots. Not as oily but we started eating it anyway. THEN a third fried rice plate came out & another waiter asked if we double ordered. I said we didnt but the waiter took it away & gave us the correct one. LOL so weird! The other foods we ordered came out inconsistently, meaning by the time we received the boneless kalbi, the other foods were partially cold & we were full, basically cause of the amount of rice we had. I averaged the wait time between five different foods being brought to our table, approx 5 - 7 mins. I wanted dessert but we were already there maybe 90 mins & there was only 3 of us. Overall, it was the worst service I had with SSI Kapahulu. Most of the time the food is awesome but not this time. I raved about this place but it was my husband and daughters first time. I spent $98 but I would’ve thought maybe comp the one soda we had for bad service.
Authentic Hawaiian food in a simple setting. Good value for the dollar.
Good food as always
Daughter’s birthday. Good food, good service. Always great atmosphere.
Good food, great service nothing fancy. Lots of people just enjoying there food. Beer was cold. Fried rice and short ribs were good.
Food was good and came in very large portions. Cocktails, Mai Tai in particular was very tasty. Waiter was very attentive. Will come here again soon!
Used to love this place, but tonight the experience was less than satisfactory. Despite being relatively empty and not super busy, food came out at random times, beers and water refills took 20 minutes and management was rude. Super disappointed. Heard that unfortunately the owner passed recently and I am wondering if whoever took over does not have the same standards as the previous.
First time back in Honolulu in a long while(Born and raised in the neighborhood). Good quality food and great service. Will be back!
I have been going to Side Street for more than 20 years and it never disappoints.
I made a ressie but didn’t get seated til 15 minutes after the ressie time. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise, food, service etc was great as usual.
Fabulous! Waiter made the perfect recommendations. Best fried rice ever and the pork chops took me back to my childhood! Just like mama made! Can’t wait to go back!
Food & service were great. Went at a good time when it wasn’t too busy yet. Would highly recommend for a fun pau hana place
We were there to treat our L.A. cousins to some local food and they were happy! Adrienne (sp?) was an outstanding server! She was friendly, knowledgable and helpful with the menu.
Side Street did not disappoint.
Great food. Great place to take out of town guests.
Family style spot that is best with a group so that you can order a diverse menu. Fish in garlic cream sauce , short rib and kimchee fried rice were the best.
Excellent value in the family-style menu for 4-6 people (the menu suggests 3-4, but one would have to have the appetites of a lumberjack or athlete in training to finish if you only had 3 people!). It was lots of tasty food, a nice variety of healthy and decadent choices, and perhaps the best fried rice and pork we have had in years. Our server was great and we definitely recommend it as a fun dining experience overall.
Always a good meal when taking guests from out of town! Now they have a prix fixe meal for 3-4 people for only $105! What a bargain!
OK, so we were told a few times about this restaurant; it's a strange location literally inside an office building - or at least a former office building? We had 7 people, so we got a large booth. Eh, nothing fancy; kind of like a pizza joint atmosphere with TVs sports on. We never walked around, but I guess it might be a sports bar? Either way, the portions of food, no matter what you order, are HUGE, so sharing is the name of the game at this restaurant. The selection of food is very authentic Hawaiian - lots of fish dishes, funky sounding things. It was completely not what we expected after hearing all the hoopla from Uber drivers and friends from the mainland telling us 'we must go there'! It's very very casual, almost run down casual. To be fair, I'm sure the food is very decent, but I just didn't want to try any of the funky sounding dishes at all, so ordered a pasta dish, which was fine. I don't know what the big deal is here, but clearly it's a beloved home style restaurant adored by locals!! Big portions big portions, keep that in mind!!
Always great food and excellent service.
Great food and a great place. Keep it up, whatever you are doing to make
the restaurant a success!
Ordering is family style for the most part. The new parking system in the adjacent lot was difficult to use. It takes no cash, so bring your credit card and hope it works. The restaurant has no control on the lot as it doesn’t belong to them. But you either park there, find street parking or pay $6 for valet.
New Years eve
Great as always! The food there is absolutely amazing. Gotta have the boneless Jambi ribs, special fried rice and the garlic chicken!!
Excellent food. From the fried rice to the beef to the pork chops. Super value!
Great food. Went on a real busy night so service was a little slow.
Our waiter was very nice but really busy. Over all we did enjoy the night.
Food was delicious!
We decided to have our Christmas dinner at side street this year and was so glad we did! Everything was awesome! We’ll definitely be making this a yearly tradition!
