Service great, food was disappointing for the price
Great service but the causal customers and table set up didn’t match the price and service.
Great food and service! Excellent wine selection!
Dry Rib eye, I don't mind spending money for what this cost, but it was way over valued. Never again!!!!!
Sadly they no longer have table cloths on the tables. When I am paying $39.00 for a steak plus sides, a table cloth would be nice. The fact that they had table cloths made me choose Shula"s over Chop Block and Brew which is closer to my house. I ordered a steak Medium Rare and it came out pretty much medium. Very over cooked. They offered to re-do it however I was dinning with others and did not want to wait for a re-do. I expected better from Shula's. I can't believe they have done away with the nice table cloths that gave Shula's a felling of elegance and clearly more upscale than Chop Block and Brew. From now on I will choose to stay close to home.
Excellent as always
Very disappointing to see Shula's started serving USDA Choice Beef. They still offer 1 cut of prime and 1 cut of dry aged but the rest of all their steaks are now USDA Choice. In addition their prices for Choice beef is very high in my opinion. I know beef prices are high and everything get more expensive over time but to me their prices for Choice beef is as high as Prime in other steak houses. Overall food was pretty good and service too but for the price they're charging they should be offering only Prime beef. I'm heading to a Scottsdale steakhouse soon so I'll see how they're pricing compares and if they're still only offering Prime beef. My guess is yes.
My wife ordered a 6 oz filet medium rare came out no pink at all. Over cooked. I ordered the 10 oz filet rear came out with very little pink. Over cooked $60 steak. Also steaks looked very small i think there scale is off 6oz steak looked like 3oz and 10oz looked like 6oz. We visit Shulas a couple times a year. Very disappointed we will never dine with them again.
Food and service was excellent, but a bit overpriced. Otherwise it was very good.
The service and atmosphere were both good but I found the food to be below expectations. Especially considering the fact that I ordered a ribeye and got a strip. The strip was tasty but salty. Temperature was a bit more cooked than preferred. Best part of the meal was the bread.
Disappointing return visit to a former favorite. Staff confirmed recent changes to menu (which was not a problem -- food was still amazing) and decor/ambiance. The formerly high end steak house felt more like a glorified, expensive sports bar. Gone are the white table cloths -- and large "walk-in" crowds made it extremely loud and distracting. For these kind of prices, this has been a destination restaurant -- and people want a special evening in a relaxed, beautiful dining room where they can have conversations and not be drowned out by the Casino crowd. Something as simple as the tablecloths take this place down a level (or more). On a positive note -- service (Jennifer) was excellent -- professional and friendly. And, probably most importantly, the food was still terrific. But not sure I'd return and pay these steak prices (where all sides are a la carte) to feel like I'm in a rowdy sports bar eating a good steak
Shula’s has been one of favorites for quite sometime. Unfortunately the recent menu changes are not good. The best sides were removed, the wedge salad, which was fantastic is now less than average. They also removed the mixed grill, which was disappointing, and they clearly downgraded the filet quality. Regardless of why they made the changes, from a customers
perspective not one of them was positive.
Always an enjoyable experience
I have always enjoyed going to Shula’s, great food and equally great service. On this visit, though, we learned that they recently revamped their menu, reducing the steak selections and eliminating a few favorite side dishes. They’ve added a couple of sides, too, but they got rid of their display cart that they used to wheel out to the table to show you the steak selections. I liked having a look at what you were choosing, I hope they decide to bring that back.
The filet mignon this time was very juicy but not as chew-it-without-teeth tender as I remember from pervious visits. I really enjoyed the scallops.
The menu as changed, and I miss the old one. I used to LOVE the Pan Seared Scallups, but that has also changed with creamed corn (?) and some sort of a sauce. First, I cannot eat corn (and really always disliked creamed corn) and I do not know what the sauce was. Before, they took out the corn, and I had my scallops with asparagus. I ordered the Halibut Oscar, but it lacked flavor and was very disappointed. My husband had a Fillet with mushrooms and so-called hash browns that were really lumpy potatoes baked with onions and a bit browned. Disappointed. Dinner was to celebrate my husband's birthday. Usually, the treated us to a slice of delicious 7-layer chocolate cake. This year it was vanilla ice cream and berries. We decided that it was time for us to find a different place for special dinners.
As always we had a wonderful experience, the food was superb as always and the service was impeccable.
Amazing food and service!!
Food was really good they had my favorite beverage and staff was attentive. Highly recommended
What used to to make the experience extra special is no longer there. They have bumped up their prices quite a bit and have gotten rid of some of the small touches which used to elevate the experience and make the price tag worth it. Service was slow and the food was fair but not as good as it used to be. Quite disappointed in the changes they’ve made.
The menu has changed. Very disappointed that the favorites are gone.
We have visited Shula's many times but this by far was one of our worst experiences. Service was terrible we had to wait for everything. We did not even see both our waitresses at the same time. The food on the new menu was not to our liking and the prices seemed higher than previously. It was my husband's birthday and instead of the decadent cake that we used to get we got vanilla ice cream. We are not happy with changes that have happened to your restaurant and probably will not be visiting in the near future.
Excellent! Very pleased...we look forward to dining there again when we are in town.
We were looking forward to this birthday dinner but unfortunately it was the worst fine dining experience I have ever had. As others have commented in reviews of Shula's, the wine selection leaves a lot to be desired, especially for the prices charged. It took 3 tries before I managed to get a drinkable glass of wine. The service was very slow and there were few customers at the time. The worst part was the lovely 6 oz filet with lobster. When I took the first bite, I knew that something was seriously wrong. The meat tasted like a chemical such as lighter fluid was spilled on it! I insisted that the waiter have the chef taste it to determine the problem ( the rest of the steak hadn't been touched). He then asked me if the meat was cooked properly. I assured him that it was, but that was not the issue. When he returned from the kitchen he informed me that the chef smelled the meat and said it had a "char-grilled" odor. If she would have sampled it, she would have known that something was drastically wrong. They did bring me another entree of fish which was excellent. However, by that time my husband was finished with his meal and I had pretty much lost my appetite. For birthdays, Shula's places a sign on the table for the waiter, presumably so they bring you a birthday treat. We didn't want to stay to find out so part-way through the dinner, my husband removed the sign from view so we could just get the check and leave. I would hope that this was an unusual experience and that others would have good food and service. For us, it was not meant to be. Also be aware that with wood and tile used extensively, loud noises are an issue since there is nothing to muffle the sounds. There was a large, noisy party near us that did not enhance our dining experience. The one delicious item I sampled on the menu was the baked potato. It was very large (shareable) and came with a condiment tray of chives, sour cream, bacon and cheese that is left at the table. Very nice touch.
Although we arrived a bit early, we were welcomed and seated promptly. The ambiance was upscale and relaxing. Although the menu was superb we requested a modification which was graciously approved. Our waiter, Mark, was responsive and attentive. He also treated us to a soft rendition of ”Happy Birtday” in Italian. Nice touch. We enjoyed a shared birthday dessert.
A lovely and memorable evening!
Awesome place for my wife and I’s anniversary. The service was on point! The food and recommendations were great! The BBQ shrimp, lobster bisque, salmon and steak were amazing.
It was wonderful to have our anniversary dinner here!
Food was excellent and the service was better. Wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and patient. We enjoyed our time at Shulas and looking to dine there again.
As always Shula's was on top of it's game. Worth the drive if you live in North Phoenix or Scottsdale. Quality is better or equal to other designer steak house.
My wife and I went to lunch here. She had the burger and fries. I had the wedge salad with steak. What a wonderful and reasonably priced meal for a nice steakhouse! Our food and service was 200%. Thank you! We will be back soon!
Menu changes some great some disappointing... beef tips off the menu... 😔
Been going there for over 5 years now for our anniversary and this was the worse... the service wasn't very good... we had to ask for them to bring out the bread 30 minutes after we sat down, I ordered the 14 oz prime rib... it was no way 14 oz. I think it was just a bad night because it never happened before.
Best crab cake I’ve ever had! My fiancé said it was the best steak he’s had in Arizona. It’s pricey but worth it. Definitely a place to celebrate or have a nice dinner.
Taking the white tablecloths off the tables made me feel like I was eating at an average restaurant. They seem to have lost their high end impression. I dressed up to feel more in tune with their business casual dress code. I could have just worn shorts....
Wow! $14.00 for two slices of lettuce named a Wedge salad? Really? THAT was a let down.
My 10 oz. filet was a little bit overcooked for medium rare. NOT much pink in my steak. Did I say anything to the waiter? No, I just wanted to eat what was in front of me and leave.
I agree with the other poster.... I'll just go to The Keg and get DOUBLE my value.
Food was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the barbecue shrimp appetizer 14oz ribeye Steak was perfect at medium. Their chocolate lava cake is to die for. Also had mashed potatoes and creamed spinach which were both amazing
Disappointed by staff who wold not give us a booth, saying it was taken. It must have been taken by a ghost because we never saw anyone sitting there for half an hour. I guess they don’t do white tablecloths anymore either, not in keeping with my expectations or their acceptable in their price range. Disappointed by wedge salad that was not even a wedge, just two slices of head lettuce. All and all no compelling reason to return as we can go to “The Keg” and get a better experience at half the price.
The food and service was excellent. The only reason I don't give it a 5 across the board is because its located within a casino that allows smoking so the smoke smell kind of permeates throughout a bit. Not horribly bad though.
Lots of changes from our last visit and not all for the better. Many things that made Shulas special are gone. Service still great.
Shula’s is now our destination for special occasions and when we want to splurge a bit. It was a bit loud this time because people at a table close by were watching videos at full volume on a phone. Thankfully they left eventually. Food and service were excellent as always. A bit pricey but worth every bit of it!
Everything was great except both of our Prime Ribs were over cooked. We asked for medium and 1 was 100% well done, the other was maybe medium well/well done, they were also tough. Everything else was delicious though.
