The food, on the whole, is quite good. The ribeye steak that I ordered had more fat on it than I had expected, but everything we ordered tasted very good. We initially were seated next to a noisy table o eight, but the staff was very amenable when we asked to be moved.
Outstanding food, excellent service! A great birthday dinner
The menu has changed since the last time we were there and not as good. Prices went up, the. 8oz filet was eliminated and side dishes changed. I had the 6 oz. filet and it was quite thin and seemed to be smaller and than expected for the price of $39 with no sides included. It was my birthday and I received a free bowl of ice cream which was good but underwhelming. In past I believe they gave a delicious chocolate cake for birthdays.
Always outstanding! Service and food are the best! Recommend highly!
Food and service were good. But did not meet my expectations considering the price is a bit higher than other steak restaurants with as good or better food.
Make sure your food is completely cooked. Mine wasn't but they made up for it buy fixing it.
One of the worst Shulaz experiences we have had. Usually great steakhouses but this location was a let down. From the moment we arrived on.
The place was nice and the service was great. The food however lacked taste. The steak didn’t taste like a dry aged ribeye. The scallops were undercooked.
My husband and I used to absolutely love this place. We would go every anniversary. We have 5 kids and it is not in our budget to eat here regularly. This is the first time I have left disappointed. The food wasn't exceptional it was just okay. We had the scallops appetizer which was heavy with the potato under and even tasted similar to the steak. The reason we ordered is because we expected the seafood to help balance out the heavy of the meal. I then had the New York, Oscar Style and my husband had the Dry Aged Ribeye. They never asked us to check our steaks to make sure they were cooked properly which in the past they seemed to pay more attention to detail. My steak was supposed to be a med- rare and ended up very rare in the middle. Which is okay for me but not what I ordered and lacked flavor and the sauce on the oscar seemed to lack flavor and was runny. My husbands steak was great but I would expect so when paying $69. We also had two sides, Truffle Corn and Crab Mac the highlight of this entire meal ended up being the sides. It just was a bit of a disappointment. The ambiance was lacking and although I do think it was a good idea to get rid of the "steak printed football" they got rid of all the other special details that made this place exceptional. The lights were on to bright for a dinner service and there was no special attention to detail. The meal total was $330 with a tip and for two so I think I just expected it to compare to the past trips.
The steaks were very good but not quite up to other premier steak restaurants. I think the Shula's in Chicago was better. However, the prices were lower than others. My wife's scallops were superb.
It was my birthday and our anniversary and after telling our waiter, he barely acknowledged them. I would think that since our bill including tip was well over $300, the least we could have gotten was a dab of ice cream and a candle. Food was great, as always, but we won’t come here for a special occasion in the future.
Always a great dinner. Outstanding steaks and service.
sides were over-cooked/burnt... steaks weren't prepared properly.. steaks are way over-priced
Great spot! Very pleased every time. Bar is welcoming and drinks are made right. Nice for date night/ business travel . Need to make reservations prior to visit. Used Yelp to book my dinner reservation.
Had not been to Shula's several months. IN the past were very pleased with this restaurant. However, on this visit, were very disappointed. Do not know if it is a one time event or the restaurant has gone down hill. The restaurant was filled with the smell of cigarette smoke, which had drifted in from the casino floor below. This was not the case in the past. Service was slow. We felt ignored. The Thanksgiving special menu turkey was dry and portions were small, though they did offer to get more. The prime rib was of OK quality but not up to past standards. The cheesecake was very good. The regular menu appears to have been significantly reduced from the past and prices significantly raised. Finally, the bill had a couple of errors which increased the price about 15%. When pointed out they did correct it. Overall was disappointed. Will probably give them another chance given positive experiences in the past. However, if the next dinner is like this, would definitely not return.
Service slow. Waited along time for out food. Prime rib was a $10 upgrade from the turkey dinner and was over cooked and very thin. Spent over $250+ and was not a good value. We will not go back.
Prime rib was over done.
Very disappointed. Ordered the porterhouse medium and it came back rare. The cream spinach had no flavor. The filet had no flavor. The lobster bisque and mac and cheese were the best things on the menu. There are better options for a steak dinner
The experience was somewhat disappointing. The experience went south when they brought out my steak. I ordered a medium steak and they brought out a well done steak. The waiter realized that was very well dine as well. He took the steak back and ordered me another one. 15-20 minutes later a new steak came out and the waiter asked me to cut into the steak to see if it was cooked to medium. We mediately saw that the steak was pretty Rare, there were blood dripped out of the steak. He took it back to have them recook. By then everyone had finished their dish and i still havent got my food. 15 minutes later the steak came back out and i cut into it again and it was finally looked medium. After my first bite into the steak, the taste of the steak was dried and is flavorless. I just asked for a box and took it back home to feed to my dog. On top of that the entire time we had no water refills. Considered the total bill was about $850 for 8 people, tip was about $140 the experience was horible.
Excellent steakhouse in the southeast valley. No need to go to Scottsdale for a fine meal. Service and quality is always consistent!
We have been to Shula's several times and this time we were not totally satisfied for the value/cost. SO not sure if I would recommend to a friend.
Great food service and dessert
This was our first experience at Shula‘s steak House. The location being in the casino was very appropriate. Location of the casino was excellent being right off of interstate 10. Overall experience was great. Would recommend this restaurant and location to anyone for an upscale meal and customer service.
The food was good. That being said, Ruth's Chris is a better steakhouse and better bang for the buck.
The waiter was rude and unaccommodating to our simple requests. Asked to have the wedge salad, chopped - was told that it would ruin the presentation. Then, we asked for a 6oz. Filet medium well, butterflied. The waiter told us, it was only 6oz. and butterflying was not necessary. The steak came out medium. We returned it, and the next steak came out medium rare.
Our waiter barely spoke with us, finally sent a manager out who removed the charge for the steak. Honestly the whole meal should have been free!
The salads were over dressed and soggy, the meat was bland with no seasoning. This Shula’s is nowhere close to corporate standards!
Service great, food was disappointing for the price
Great service but the causal customers and table set up didn’t match the price and service.
Great food and service! Excellent wine selection!
Dry Rib eye, I don't mind spending money for what this cost, but it was way over valued. Never again!!!!!
Sadly they no longer have table cloths on the tables. When I am paying $39.00 for a steak plus sides, a table cloth would be nice. The fact that they had table cloths made me choose Shula"s over Chop Block and Brew which is closer to my house. I ordered a steak Medium Rare and it came out pretty much medium. Very over cooked. They offered to re-do it however I was dinning with others and did not want to wait for a re-do. I expected better from Shula's. I can't believe they have done away with the nice table cloths that gave Shula's a felling of elegance and clearly more upscale than Chop Block and Brew. From now on I will choose to stay close to home.
Excellent as always
Very disappointing to see Shula's started serving USDA Choice Beef. They still offer 1 cut of prime and 1 cut of dry aged but the rest of all their steaks are now USDA Choice. In addition their prices for Choice beef is very high in my opinion. I know beef prices are high and everything get more expensive over time but to me their prices for Choice beef is as high as Prime in other steak houses. Overall food was pretty good and service too but for the price they're charging they should be offering only Prime beef. I'm heading to a Scottsdale steakhouse soon so I'll see how they're pricing compares and if they're still only offering Prime beef. My guess is yes.
My wife ordered a 6 oz filet medium rare came out no pink at all. Over cooked. I ordered the 10 oz filet rear came out with very little pink. Over cooked $60 steak. Also steaks looked very small i think there scale is off 6oz steak looked like 3oz and 10oz looked like 6oz. We visit Shulas a couple times a year. Very disappointed we will never dine with them again.
Food and service was excellent, but a bit overpriced. Otherwise it was very good.
The service and atmosphere were both good but I found the food to be below expectations. Especially considering the fact that I ordered a ribeye and got a strip. The strip was tasty but salty. Temperature was a bit more cooked than preferred. Best part of the meal was the bread.
Disappointing return visit to a former favorite. Staff confirmed recent changes to menu (which was not a problem -- food was still amazing) and decor/ambiance. The formerly high end steak house felt more like a glorified, expensive sports bar. Gone are the white table cloths -- and large "walk-in" crowds made it extremely loud and distracting. For these kind of prices, this has been a destination restaurant -- and people want a special evening in a relaxed, beautiful dining room where they can have conversations and not be drowned out by the Casino crowd. Something as simple as the tablecloths take this place down a level (or more). On a positive note -- service (Jennifer) was excellent -- professional and friendly. And, probably most importantly, the food was still terrific. But not sure I'd return and pay these steak prices (where all sides are a la carte) to feel like I'm in a rowdy sports bar eating a good steak
Shula’s has been one of favorites for quite sometime. Unfortunately the recent menu changes are not good. The best sides were removed, the wedge salad, which was fantastic is now less than average. They also removed the mixed grill, which was disappointing, and they clearly downgraded the filet quality. Regardless of why they made the changes, from a customers
perspective not one of them was positive.
Always an enjoyable experience
