Shula's Steak House - The Westshore Grand
Book your next event with us
I've eaten good meals here before, actually very good meals. I love the location and Westshore area lacks many fine dining spots. This same location once house J. Fitzgerald's which was terrific! Mr. Shula needs to have someone responsible for providing quality assurance stop in unannounced one day. Better yet, Don, come on up. I can show you some great places to eat, which unfortunately does not include your namesake. Sad.
Interesting: the bar area and bar menu are more than decent. Better value and experience!
Have not been there for many years but it still did not disappoint. Always one of our favorite places! Moved away 12 years ago but definitely wanted to spend a special birthday there... Worth the trip back!
Great bar remodel with excellent service! The food was great as well.
Very nice meal to celebrate a birthday with. Steak was cooked perfectly and the crab macaroni was delicious!
Wonderful service fron Niel. Great meal.
It was a disaster. The service was so poor there were times when we actually had to raise our hand to be waited on. It was my fiancé’s birthday and we hated EVERY minute here.
The only thing that was decent was valet. Ha! So sad,the tablecloths on the tables sooooooo long and in the way that you can slide in or out of the booth without dragging it.
No diversity and very inconvenient location with a stuffy crowd. Its not a hip place like it sounds or looks online and I will never go back. In fact, I’d like to forget we went. Thanks Shulas for horrible food and service from me to my fiancé on his birthday. Yea, we should have just got the free 1/4 chicken meal from Pollo Tropical LOL. SHAMEFUL. Tampa location. Not San Francisco.
Everything was perfect. My wife and I were out celebrating her Birthday and the service the food and the staff treated us like royslty. We will certainly recommend Shulas to our friends and relatives. We look foward to returning in the near future.
When we arrived we found out Shula's was closed until about 8p due to a plumbing issue in the kitchen. The service was subpar compared to what I am used to at Shula's.
Everything was excellent except the fact that I was served the wrong cut of my steak, I ordered a 24 ounce porterhouse but I was served a T-bone steak. I did not mind at all because I am a steak lover and the T-bone was just as delicious. If you want an upscale steakhouse in Tampa, The Coach’s House (Shoula’s) is above the rest. I can not wait for our next visit there, to those who have never been, you haven’t experienced UPSCALE !!!
The service is outstanding. The ambience is great. The fish was dry and burnt and the steak was over cooked and had to be returned and by the time it returned my wife was ready to go. I tried to remain positive, because I could see she was disappointed. The seafood appetizer was awesome, the bread was delicious and the desert we took home was great. It was the main meal that I was totally lacking.
I expected more. The food was good. The service could've been better. I expected this over the top service from our wait staff and it was very regular. I also didn't like that when I asked about the fish of the day, the waiter told how the fish were prepared but also decided to tell us the price, as if that would matter.
Good good - Cesar salad soggy, but they sent a fresh one home with us.
Very disappointed when we realized we could not order from the menu. They gave us a one sheet four course meal plan with a couple of choice. $180 for two for a soup, salad, 14oz steak and chocolate cake. $30 meal at best. Ribeye was less than an inch thick. We should have been informed about the menu. Server was all business like a robot. We picked Shula's to celebrate our 50th anniversary. I can't believe Shula's would do that to guest.
Exceptional food and service! Gary was very attentive and made our evening even more special.
A bit pricey, but good food.
Everything we expected.
Potatoes were undercooked, chicken was tough and rubbery. Steak was good, but not great. Brussel Sprouts were the best part
Gary was amazing. Great service. Very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.
Delicious and good service.
Dining room was very quiet and very slow, not many tables filled. Our server Gary was great. Food was good, wedge salad needs some work. Dessert was excellent. Wine list decent, but prices a little high. We will probably be back. Hotel should offer a date night package. One night king suite, dinner for two. $350 or something similar. I think it would generate some business for both the hotel and Shulas
It was fabulous as usual! We always enjoy Shula’s.
Exceptional in every way. Thank you for an excellent evening.
Shula’s has a nice consistent menu. I have eaten in this location periodically for years. I do not think that the service was as nice and I had a party of 8 yet another larger party brought to our room and they were obviously drinking and louder...there was restaurant space but perhaps they wanted to consolidate. Sadly that distractedz our water glasses were never refilled I used another’s who was not drinking theirs... the food was certainly tasty but at these prices one expects a bit more.
Steaks were perfect. Paul was a great waiter. Wonderful evening!
Server made the evening very special. Very attentive and pleasant. Keep it up
We went there for a birthday and were treated royally. The servers are experienced and have been with Shula's a very long time. The meat is outstanding as is the seafood. One in our party had a dish with barbecue shrimp, filet and crab cake and he couldn't stop raving about it! We went for the chocolate lava cake instead of the birthday cake for a change (we really like that birthday cake!) and it was absolutely delicious and a VERY big serving. A nice surprise was that they credited $10 toward the dessert for the birthday. Definitely a great choice!
Steak was excellent. VERY surprised and disappointed that the french fries and steak were frozen...not becoming a really good steak house. I remember eating at the original in Miami Lakes; great hash browns and french fries...not frozen!!!!
My wife and I tried this place on a whim. Of course I have heard of Shulas before and I was surprised to learn the experience it has lived up to their reputation. The food and service was amazing. From the valet out front to the dessert and everything in between this was a great meal. The steaks were huge and expertly prepared. This was a great date night for my wife and I.
Great night as always! Free bday meal with free dessert—great service, even chef came out to check on us. I understand why gratuity is included, service was well worth 20% so I added a few more— my only question would be since $55 was deducted off our check why was that $55 taxed? Seems like someone beats us for $4 on this deal
We made reservations for New Years Eve and 11:00 PM and agreed to the $90 per person special dinner charge. Our flight to Tampa was going to be about 30 minutes late and I attempted to call the restaurant starting at 9:00 and then called many times after that but no one answered. i finally just emailed so that I would have something on the record in case we were delayed longer. We arrived at an empty restaurant at 11:10 and was told that they closed at 11:00. Why would they give us a reservation for a special new years dinner/party if they were closing? I have had great experiences at other Shula's but this "experience" takes the prize. Forced with no other option, we had dinner at IHOP next to our hotel.
It’s been over 10 years since my wife and I had been to Shula’s. Once a regular go to restaurant for us. So we thought we would give it another try on NYE. We were very disappointed in the level of service and the food was terrible. My ribeye was full of gristle and fat. My wife ordered the Monk fish, it was over powered by the bacon wrap and very dry.
Sent my steak back 3 times and it still wasn’t right. I would not recommend at those prices.
By far the worst service and food that me and my wife ever received so far in a restaurant. It was a complete waste of time and money. We ordered Pittsburgh medium a New York steak and a Filet Mignon. What a deception. The meat of the New York steak was very difficult to cut do to the hard texture of the meat. My wife didn’t like at all the Filet Mignon. As dessert we order cheesecake and the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was completely dry. I though at that moment that both desserts were purchased at Winn Dixie. The customer service was terrible. The waiter that was assigned to our table never provide us with the service that we as a customer deserve. I always had to call him when we need his attention. I will never return to this restaurant. I have practically visited all the steakhouse restaurants in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater but Shula’s restaurant has been by far the worst steakhouse that I ever visited in my life.
New Years Eve dining.
We made reservations wanting to try somewhere new for NYE! We arrived and at that point we were told there was a set menu... which is ok however with dietary restrictions, we typically like to know these kinds of things before make reservations somewhere! The menu was nothing impressive. The first course we chose was the Caesar salad (which was brown in places), the second was the filet (which was actually very good, however cooked a little less than requested). It came with maybe two bites of mashed potatoes and 3 large stalks of asparagus. Third course was a dessert which we wouldn’t have ordered in the first place but we got them to go (which was nice). They were such tiny pieces of cake it was laughable. The service was just strange, servers reaching arms across our faces to grab glasses as were in the middle of conversation, they didn’t have answers to our questions without asking someone else, etc. We definitely would have left once we realized the set menu issue but they required our credit card to book a table, and would have charged us for cancelling. For this experience (no drinks included) it was $90 per person. The food we got wouldn’t equaled that price on the regular menu... so it was price gouging at its finest and the food wasn’t on par. Super disappointed. We don’t mind paying any dollar amount for great food, so it’s extra upsetting to pay over $200 on NYE for a mediocre meal.
New Years eve
The menu was not great. The food was mediocre. The whole outing was overpriced and under delivered on the meal.
We will never go back based on what it is supposed to be and what we actually received.
Shula's should be ashamed that it wasn't any better then a Ponderosa

I expected much more it is not a great Steak House
Great steaks and excellent service!
Great Christmas dinner. Enjoyed birthday cake for dessert. Stake beautiful and cooked to perfection.
