I stay at The West shore Grand a fair bit for work, but never visited Shula's. I had heard great things about the restaurant, so when I was last visiting the hotel, and I was meeting with my parents for a birthday celebration, it made sense for us to try it out. I was quite tired when I visited the restaurant and I had been up over 20 hours and flying across the Atlantic that day. We went straight for main courses (entrees) we all ordered steak- fillet mignon and porterhouse cuts. It took a while to come, however it was worth the wait. It was probably one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, hands down! My parents agreed too. It was perfectly cooked and the meat was exceptionally good quality, there was not one single bit of fat or gristle on my meat nor my parents. It was fantastic, that it was cooked plain, as so many steak restaurants that you visit they cook it in garlic, sauces etc. The creamed spinach side was to die for, I woke up at 3am the next day, craving this, wishing I had taken the leftovers back to my room with me. The only criticism we had, if you could even call it that, was my parents baked potato could have been slightly hotter. This restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and ambience. The lighting is quite dark inside the restaurant (not the best when you are sleepy like I was) but any other time its a lovely setting, just wish I wasn't so tired when I visited the restaurant so I could had really made the most of Shula's experience. The restaurant is quite pricey, but then again I think this standard of restaurant in USA always is quite expensive. There was three of us dining we had an alcoholic beverage each, an entrée each and a side each and our bill was over $200. However, it was well worth it, it would just be nice if they included one side with the steaks. Despite this I would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying at the hotel or visiting the area, and I would be back within a heartbeat if I could.
Only one complaint and I have never seen this before at a high end restaurant, the wine glass and our drink glasses were spotted. I expect a little attention to detail, this was a turn off, fortunately everything else went well throughout the night
For a high end steak house I was very disappointed with the steak. Had a New York Strip steak but very tough. Not possible to have been a "prime" piece of beef.
It was my birthday and we had a wonderful dinner! We split a Caesar salad, split two lobster tails and a filet of beef, had a baked potato and creamed spinach. Everything was cooked perfectly! Our server, Paul, was very nice and attentive. I was given a large slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Yum! It was a very enjoyable evening!
The dinner service & experience was a complete disappointment. When placing orders, items were missed. It took a long time to get our food & wait staff came around very sparingly to fill up water. When they did, they filled one or two glasses without checking the entire table. When we got our food, the steaks were cooked wrong for most of the table & made us wait even longer to get a new one recooked. This was shocking as Shula’s is a well known high end steakhouse. The sides did not come out at the same time as the steaks either. We also had to cancel dessert because it was now taking up way too much time. After expressing our dissatisfaction & making them aware that these issues, the staff still took even longer to get our checks. We choose Shula’s instead of others because of the quality of food & service, but this experience has really disappointed us especially with 8 new diners with us.
The food was delious and our waiter was top notch!!
Outstanding meal surrounded by Dolphin Super Bowl memorabilia. Ask for Gary for excellent service.
Paul is always great to us!
The food and service are excellent.
My daughter and I were guests of the hotel, and decided to have dinner there and breakfast the next morning. Both were absolutely fantastic! I recommend Shula’s to everyone!!! ❤️
Wanted a twice baked potato as a side and was told that they were out, same as the mashed potatoes. However, another table nearby received a twice baked potato after we received our food?????? Didn’t get a good explanation on that one. Very disappointed
Service was absolutely wonderful and food was impeccable as always.
I can cook and buy a better Filet at home . My 12 oz filet ordered MR was Med and dry . For 50 bucks for just the steak you think as a Steakhouse they would know how to cook it? Wedge salad was not bright and crisp, actually letteced tasted old. As for the rest drink prices are ridiculous with a standard poor. Partners dinner was the same. You could go to a nicer less pricy place for a third and get better.
Shula's was a great experience. Enjoyed a handcrafted cocktail. Also there was a loud group and management handled very well. Best steak for dinner.
Food was good, service was great but the value just isn’t there. The price of everything was ridiculous, portions are small, martinis are small. For what we paid we could have gone to Charley ‘s, Malio’s or even Berns.
It was grear
Was a very nice nite out. The service was great . Steaks we're excellent.
Disappointed with this experience, tiny tables, slow service and a lot of noise. Also, the valet parking was hell
we will have the corn ,asparagus ,and i'll have the twice bake potato with our steaks. she will have the baked potato with sour cream. waiter , the topping for the potato are on the side. ok.
meal comes, was good ,,,, no potato, and no one checks to see how are meal is till we are done. is ask the waiter what happened to the ladies potato, he answers abruptly no you ordered 3 sides yea we'll go to flemming
Food we great!
I’m not much of a writer but you made my daughters sixteenth birthday the best ever. She has a very fine pallet and doesn’t impress easily and you guys knocked her off her chair. The people were great and the food was to die for. We will come back for another special occasion or just to get the calamari. Thanks.
The food is Amazing ... the meat is by far the best around there is no better steak in Tampa Bay than Shulas.
Food & service were excellent! Always extraordinary.
Excellent food, great service
food was not good at all ,barbeque shrimp lavered in sauce and scallops were raw asparagus was super hard and crab cake was completely dry and over cooked till it was dry .
It was a special occasion for ne and my spouse it was our 44th anniversary and normally out of courtsey where ever we go they at least ask would you both like to share a desert and this place was awful a little desert along with better service (could have been great advertisement for them )
Our dinner was excellent as always!! It’s our favorite steakhouse.
New Year Day
I realized after we arrived at the restaurant that they normally are not open on sundays and this was a special occasion (New Years Eve), and a special menu, which may explain some of the problems. The food was ok at best, nothing had any flavor at all and although i realize at a steakhouse the natural flavors are what is supposed to be the focal point, those didnt exist either. Even my cheesecake was slightly frozen in the middle. The service was slow and below the level that a restaurant like this should expect. As i stated before it was a special occasion and i know sometimes events like these are more difficult, but definately not a $90.00 per person (not including drinks) experience.
Worst Shula's Steakhouse I have ever been to. The steak was on par with Outback.
$89.99 New Years Eve Menu. Mashed Potatoes were hard as a rock and not "real" potatoes.
At 9pm they were out of the Rib Eye Steak? On New Years Eve????
The waiter made this one of the worst New Years Dinners I have ever experienced. Sat at the table for 15 minutes with no service and in small talk he said he wanted to get us out by 10:00pm so he could go to a party. He then proceeded to try to pull my unfinished salad off the table so he could deliver the the dinner.
He sent over a lady to assist once he realized I was aggravated.
The $263.00 for 2 steak dinners with no alcohol is theft!!!
Stay out of this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were very disappointed with our New Year's Eve dinner at Shula's.
We were visiting from out of town and had trouble finding a restaurant with availability for this special occasion at the last minute...however, we were excited to try Shula's when we found it and read some reviews.
We didn't mind that there was a prix fixe menu and the restaurant called to confirm that this was okay.
However, the service was very slow and not very professional. Further, the food was cold and the steaks undercooked.
Overall, it was a very disappointing way to celebrate the new year.
Honestly i went here with a desire to like this place and we selected it for our New Year’s Eve dinner l. Needless to say we left extremely disappointed, the service was super slow and we felt neglected. Our waitress seemed lost and couldn’t get out items out at the right time, never got additional bread or water or anything basic checking on our table. We told the manager and gave him the opportunity to make it right , he also failed to hit the mark, when we finally got our food it was mediocre and not at the level of the price. The best thing they served was the wine because it comes already bottled and they don’t have a part in making it . Disappointed 😔
We were really looking forward to dinner visiting from out of state. We have eaten at several Don Shula’s in the past-excellent meals. When we arrived informed that the menu was fixed.Requested chocolate soufflé and told was unavailable due to fixed menu.
Will not return.
Went to Shula's for an early New Year's Eve dinner. A pre-fixe menu was offered. In short most of the food was cool or cold, some of which was sent back. The steak quality was mediocre which was surprising since Shula's is a renowned steak restaurant. Ambiance was nonexistent and service was mediocre. Overall not a good experience.
Ali was great, but his co-server Anna not so much. She acted like she was not interested to be there that night. The food was good, but it felt like we were seated in an overflow area at the entrance of the restaurant.
As perfect as the Miami Dolphins 1972 season! We will be back soon.
I expected more of the prices charge. The flavor my steak was not what I expected for cowboy ribeye .
Food was fantastic and our waiter, Ali, could not have been more attentive. A little pricey but great for special occasions. Wonderful ambience.
The food was great and very festive
They had an excellent holiday menu with Good value. It was regrettable that they were short staffed but after all it was Christmas
Who wants to work on Christmas
A touch pricey. Food was an "A" (would have been an A+ but the prime rib was a little on the chewy side). Service was an A+. We will be back.
Got a last minute reservation for Christmas Eve supper, and could not have been happier. Great food, great wine (Caymus 2014),and great company made for a wonderful evening.
