Shula's Steak House - The Westshore Grand Ratings and Reviews
we will have the corn ,asparagus ,and i'll have the twice bake potato with our steaks. she will have the baked potato with sour cream. waiter , the topping for the potato are on the side. ok.
meal comes, was good ,,,, no potato, and no one checks to see how are meal is till we are done. is ask the waiter what happened to the ladies potato, he answers abruptly no you ordered 3 sides yea we'll go to flemming
I’m not much of a writer but you made my daughters sixteenth birthday the best ever. She has a very fine pallet and doesn’t impress easily and you guys knocked her off her chair. The people were great and the food was to die for. We will come back for another special occasion or just to get the calamari. Thanks.
food was not good at all ,barbeque shrimp lavered in sauce and scallops were raw asparagus was super hard and crab cake was completely dry and over cooked till it was dry .
It was a special occasion for ne and my spouse it was our 44th anniversary and normally out of courtsey where ever we go they at least ask would you both like to share a desert and this place was awful a little desert along with better service (could have been great advertisement for them )
I realized after we arrived at the restaurant that they normally are not open on sundays and this was a special occasion (New Years Eve), and a special menu, which may explain some of the problems. The food was ok at best, nothing had any flavor at all and although i realize at a steakhouse the natural flavors are what is supposed to be the focal point, those didnt exist either. Even my cheesecake was slightly frozen in the middle. The service was slow and below the level that a restaurant like this should expect. As i stated before it was a special occasion and i know sometimes events like these are more difficult, but definately not a $90.00 per person (not including drinks) experience.
Worst Shula's Steakhouse I have ever been to. The steak was on par with Outback.
$89.99 New Years Eve Menu. Mashed Potatoes were hard as a rock and not "real" potatoes.
At 9pm they were out of the Rib Eye Steak? On New Years Eve????
The waiter made this one of the worst New Years Dinners I have ever experienced. Sat at the table for 15 minutes with no service and in small talk he said he wanted to get us out by 10:00pm so he could go to a party. He then proceeded to try to pull my unfinished salad off the table so he could deliver the the dinner.
He sent over a lady to assist once he realized I was aggravated.
The $263.00 for 2 steak dinners with no alcohol is theft!!!
Stay out of this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were very disappointed with our New Year's Eve dinner at Shula's.
We were visiting from out of town and had trouble finding a restaurant with availability for this special occasion at the last minute...however, we were excited to try Shula's when we found it and read some reviews.
We didn't mind that there was a prix fixe menu and the restaurant called to confirm that this was okay.
However, the service was very slow and not very professional. Further, the food was cold and the steaks undercooked.
Overall, it was a very disappointing way to celebrate the new year.
Honestly i went here with a desire to like this place and we selected it for our New Year’s Eve dinner l. Needless to say we left extremely disappointed, the service was super slow and we felt neglected. Our waitress seemed lost and couldn’t get out items out at the right time, never got additional bread or water or anything basic checking on our table. We told the manager and gave him the opportunity to make it right , he also failed to hit the mark, when we finally got our food it was mediocre and not at the level of the price. The best thing they served was the wine because it comes already bottled and they don’t have a part in making it . Disappointed 😔
We were really looking forward to dinner visiting from out of state. We have eaten at several Don Shula’s in the past-excellent meals. When we arrived informed that the menu was fixed.Requested chocolate soufflé and told was unavailable due to fixed menu.
Will not return.
Went to Shula's for an early New Year's Eve dinner. A pre-fixe menu was offered. In short most of the food was cool or cold, some of which was sent back. The steak quality was mediocre which was surprising since Shula's is a renowned steak restaurant. Ambiance was nonexistent and service was mediocre. Overall not a good experience.
Went Christmas eve at 5:45pm. Dining room was about 70 per cent full. Was very loud, bad acoustics. Service was not good. Very unatentive, appeared waiter had too many tables to handle.
Food was fair, steaks were mot seasoned well, souflees were over cooked and bland. Side dishes were good, as were the salads. Party of 7, spent $646 with only 3 people drinking alcohol. I've been to all the upscale steak houses, this was ny far the worst.
We had our office Christmas dinner there. The ambiance was a bit plain. I expected a little richer look to the dining area based on the prices. The wait staff was excellent. They did a good job of interacting and anticipating our needs. There apparently was an issue in the kitchen that night. Our initial drinks, appetizers, soups and salads came out as expected. but then it was a good 30-45 minute wait before the entrees came out. My ribeye was overcooked and another person's filet was undercooked. The seafood plates seemed to be OK. Our waiter noticed right away that there were problems with our steaks and initiated the conversation on how the steaks were cooked and quickly took them back and got us new ones. He comped us one of the steaks, a bottle of wine and some desserts, which was all very nice. Even after the comped items, we spent almost 500.00 on the meal. They did their best to make things right, but it was not what were expecting for the amount of money we spent there.
This was my first time at any Shula's restaurant. I had heard good things so was ready for a great steak. I left unimpressed. I ordered the 8oz filet. I ordered it medium well. The waiter repeated back, medium well, light pink center. Steak arrived and it was red in the middle. I don't like to be "that guy" that sends a steak back so I ate it as it was. My wife even gave me a look like she couldn't believe I was eating it. It wasn't bad, just not to my liking. It was bland tasting. I have had a much better steak at a local place for about the same price. I probably won't go back unless it is a group affair and it is someone else's decision.
I am have been in all the high end national steakhouses as a good steak is my favorite. I had as good a NY Strip steak as in any of the others. it was a Friday night and the place was not that but enough to be vibrant. There were 6 of us and it was a steep tab with some expensive wine but the waiter seem uninterested and was actually pretty grumpy. It could have been a perfect night with a better waiter.
We have been to this location every year since moving to Tampa in 2009. We ran into a bad spell over the past few years with servers demonstrating an attitude fit for Peter Luger Steakhouse. However, this last visit was one of the best. Our server genuinely was on point with great recommendations and attentive throughout the evening. The food has always been spot on every visit. This past dinner was no exception. The lobster mac and cheese is well worth the carbs and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. With close proximity to the airport this place is great for all occasions. Looking forward to our next great dinner at Shula's.
Service was very good as usual. The problem with this venue is the ambience and atmosphere. It was hot, stuffy, with no music and absolutely no people there as usual so I always wonder how they stay in business. The major negative about this places that the wine prices are absolutely unreasonable. For a chain it is second only to Ruth’s Chris for how outrageous the prices of wine are which is where they make their money. Came here for birthday dinner which was great but won’t be back until my next birthday.
So many better options for steakhouses in Tampa. We were very disappointed, having been to the Shula's at Disney and having the best steaks ever. Only one of six filets were correctly prepared, despite having to wait 40 minutes. The waiter seemed to discourage the guest from returning his well done filet that was supposed to be medium rare. We were one of only four filled tables in the restaurant. I'd be surprised if this location is still open in six months. I'll never return.
Another stellar evening at Shula's. It doesn't get much better combining excellent food, attentive service and an overall enjoyable experience was had by all. Tried some old favorites and made some new favorites. This is one of the best places to get steak in the Tampa Bay area. It is especially beautiful during the holiday season.
This hidden gem is a solid meat and potatoes place that is quiet, courteous and elegant. Our server Ali was especially thoughtful and I’m glad we had the pleasure of his service.
My only complaint is that it is incredibly unoriginal and will charge $10 for a generic ceasar salad and $10 for steamed asparagus. I get the shareable concept but that’s absurd. For $200 a meal for two I’d expect to be at a chefs table trying gelled and foamed experiments, not classic meat and veggies. Also, I’ve paid less for a better view. I would have expected this place to be atop the building encased by windows and city views.
The place was established in 1990s and in my opinion, stuck there. There is something to be said for tried and true, however, and this place does not disappoint if you wanna over splurge on simple good food.
