Shula's Steak House - The Westshore Grand
Book your next event with us
The service is indicative of what you expect at a fine dining establishment however the food is not worth the money in my opinion. There are much better steak houses in the area to return to one that's just mediocre.
Wonderful food and memories of old Dolphin Era . Meal and ambience was spectacular .
I guess if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it.
Food wasn't worth the price. Had to send my food back because it wasn't cooked properly and the sides were cold when our food was brought out.
We had the pleasure of celebrating three birthday's at Shula's. Our waiter was most attentive. The dinner was awesome. We have been to other Steak Restaurants, but still come back to Shula's every year. The food and service and attention to detail just can't be beat
Food was tasty and the service was excellent since we were the only ones in the restaurant. Menu is a little pricey but guess it's expected.
While the chimichuri sauce I had with my steak was amazing the temperature of both my husband and my steak were not what we ordered. We asked for medium rare and got medium. Waiters were very good but the restaurant was dead.
I love the food here. The French onion soup is amazing. The steaks are very good as well. Service is very attentive. They took good care of us for our birthday dinner. The molten cake is gray but it’s too expensive at $16.
The only thing I really don’t like is how slow and dead the place is now. It’s so sad to walk in there and be the only people dining. A few more came in later, but 4 tables for a Thursday night is disappointing. I don’t want to book a reservation here one day and see the place has closed down. I’ve been coming here for years and it was never like this.
Certainly not the shula's I remember! Poor value, steak just ok and average service. Would not return, charly's or burns is a much better option
To be honest, we are big fans of a good delicious ribeye and that was the worst ribeye we’ve ever had!! The side items were delicious!!
Poor service- they act like they were doing us a favor.
Food was sub par, but wildly expensive.
I took a good friend there for his birthday and was embarrassed.
Will never return.
Steak and Service were fantastic. Great looking location. Not too loud.
yes i would recommend it as long as they could afford it LOL but seriously it
was better than i expected.....prices are too high though the bar is inviting and
crowded and ambient.....so if you lower the prices some a lot of those people
would stay for food.....
We came for a last ministry date night. We sat at the bar, because the restaurant was dead. Our server Kaitlyn was absolutely amazing! We were not impressed with the food, at all. Definitely not worth the money.
It was a wonderful experience. Our waiter Gary went above and beyond.
Food and service were excellent. Our waiter Gary was very friendly and attentive. Porterhouse was cooked perfect and the French onion soup was amazing.
It’s just sad to see how slow the place is. I hope it’s the season and tone of day we went. I enjoy coming here a few times a year and would be upset if the place closed down.
The food was superb and the service was excellent. It is not a place for those who are looking for moderate prices.
Schula's Tampa is our favorite special occasion restaurant. No one likes getting older, but looking forward to the incredible calamari fries to start, along with their signature cocktail, eases the pain :) We had our usual 12 oz filet, rare +, pittsburged for myself and 48 oz porterhouse, medium rare for Himself. Both were PERFECT, as always. As was the sauteed spinach and truffle fries. We RARELY do dessert bc we find most too sweet for our taste, but Schula's lava cake is to die for. It is also a treat to enjoy PERFECT service by Paul. We like to get value for our dollars and every penny is well spent here.
Was expecting a great experience like a free standing shulas. This was done like a typical hotel restaurant, zero flare, ambiance, or excitement. The food was priced like a 5 star steakhouse, but was the level of outback. The cocktail menu lacks imagination. I was expecting an experience like Eddie V's or similar. Not even close.
In a city with amazing steakhouses, a brand like shulas needs to step up. Shulas 347 is much better.
I had a lovely dinner with my nephew and his girlfriend We all enjoyed our dishes and the service and atmosphere was terrific I would definitely recommend to a friend I have dined at several Shula’s restaurants and always enjoy
The staff was absolutely a delight. Cannot say I would return simply based on there being better steaks around town. I would recommend anyone try this location for a date night for sure, the ambiance is amazing.
Great food and service. Expensive, but perfect for special occasions. Adequate but not extensive wine list with something for most budgets.
Not worth the money. Food was fine but at the price they were asking, not good enough to pay for that. Service and ambiance were lacking
Over priced and not as good as other local steak houses
Great way to spend our 21st wedding anniversary! Our table was all prepared as requested. Gary our server was top notch & focused on the little details to make our night wonderful!
We had family in town to visit. First time dining, underwhelming experience. Unfortunately, the food left something to be desired. We have had better steak house experiences for less!
The food was cooked perfectly and staff was very attentive which made for a great dining experience.
Gary is always awesome!
Food is ALWAYS delicious!
I LOVE this place!
It was good. It just doesn’t seem to have the same wow effect like it use to. Something seemed to be missing. Steak was good, truffle fries were good, dessert was excellent. Service was ok. The older gentileman seemed a little stuffy. I like this place. I have been coming here for years. I just wasn’t wow’d like in the past.
Loved it. Filet mignon and the Porterhouse. Their mashed potatoes are so good like Thanksgiving!! The lobby bar is so cute. Service is outstanding!!
Last time we are here was about 2 years ago, the food was much better. Steaks were not flavorful this time. The experience does not make me want to come back.
Food was excellent! Could not say enough about it. Our waiter Alex was extremely nice and attentive. Jim, the manager came over and chatted with us a bit. We totally enjoyed the free appetizer (maple bacon). YUM!!! Thank u Jim!
The only drawback for us was that it was quiet for a Saturday. We enjoy a more active atmosphere. Still it was a nice night.
All of the Shula's locations are always fantastic. Food is perfectly cooked, service is always impeccible. Always a treat!
Food was absolutely exceptional but unfortunately, the service was awful. I counted all three times our server came to the table and the entire staff seemed to be more concerned with catering to the needs of one couple versus the other tables in the room. He was completely disinterested in serving us. I asked for any specials and was simply told a list of fish without any description or details. There were long periods of time where we waited to order a drink or to ask for bread. For the amount of money the food costs, the service needs to improve.
The food was OK from the beginning to the end , nothing to write home about. Gary our server was great , he did an excellent job. Jim the host was also doing a good job helping the servers. But the food over all seemed flavorless up to the Chocolate Soufflé, I did like the ice cream. The kale that came with the grass fed filet had a nice flavor. We received A free entrée for you birthday card, but we gave it to someone who’s birthday it was cause we don’t see ourselves coming back anytime soon. Maybe next time I’ll get the Ribeye, but it needs to have the fat on it. Well at least we tried it.
Pricey, nothing new about that. But good.
I was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience at Shula's Steakhouse. I had not dined at Shula's for more than 20 years, with the last time being at the original in Miami Lakes, FL. From the past I remembered the value for the cost was just not there, and was a bit hesitant when my wife told me she would like to go there for her birthday.
The Filet and Ribeye steaks we had were cooked to perfection, and flavorful. The sides of sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes were just a good. Our server was even able to create a special fruit bowl for the desert as a birthday treat (as my wife has a gluten intolerance, and the desert menu choices were limited). Even this was very good. At first we were a little disappointed when no whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream was provided as a compliment to the berries, but after getting over that and tasting what was presented, that was quickly forgotten. The fruit was all fresh and sweet, and did not require that little extra we thought would be nice.
All and all a very nice supper. Still pricey, but we knew that going in.
I've eaten good meals here before, actually very good meals. I love the location and Westshore area lacks many fine dining spots. This same location once house J. Fitzgerald's which was terrific! Mr. Shula needs to have someone responsible for providing quality assurance stop in unannounced one day. Better yet, Don, come on up. I can show you some great places to eat, which unfortunately does not include your namesake. Sad.
Interesting: the bar area and bar menu are more than decent. Better value and experience!
Have not been there for many years but it still did not disappoint. Always one of our favorite places! Moved away 12 years ago but definitely wanted to spend a special birthday there... Worth the trip back!
