Shula's Steak House - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
It was SO loud. We couldn’t even have a conversation at dinner. There was confusion on who was supposed to take our order. We waited at least 30 min after finishing our salad before our meal arrived . We had to ask several times where our meal was. Then my steak was supposed to be Med-rare. It was well done. Waitress offered to get me a new one but we had already been there 2 hours!! Not the Shula experience I am used to!!
I'll try to be as nice as possible. We went to Shula's for dinner this past Saturday night, we were in town for the Colts game the next day. We were seated promptly with a nice view of the city. It took awhile for our waiter to finally come over and take our drink orders. The restaurant was not busy at all at 7pm. We got our drinks and ordered an appetizer (BBQ shrimp) and salads (Wedge). Would have been nice if they would have came out separately, however they were pretty good. I ordered the 12oz filet and my wife the 8oz filet. Seemed to take forever for the steaks to come out, at least 40-45 minutes. My steak looked good on the outside, but when I cut into it the middle was almost gel like, I tried a bite and it was not edible. I sent it back thinking maybe they would cook a different one but the waiter came back out almost 30 minutes later and it was the same steak and the middle looked the same. The waiter was definitely avoiding our table at this point, once again the restaurant was not busy at all. I sent it back and they replaced it with a ribeye steak. The manager said they would take care of my steak and would give us a dessert on them. My steak finally came out and was decent. My wife had been done with her meal for 30 minutes. The cake however took another 50 minutes to come out. Ridiculous!! We were there for 2 1/2 hours. I really wanted to like Shula's, but it was a big disappointment. I cannot in good conscience recommended this restaurant to anyone.
This was my fourth time dining at Shula's steakhouse. The service here is absolutely fantastic. You do not want for anything. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to treat him so we both got drinks and an appetizer. We chose the bacon appetizer. While it was very delicious, I do not think it was worth the price. It only came with 2 pieces of thick-cut bacon with maybe 4 pieces of cooked apples. $14 for that is crazy!!! I could have bought 4 lbs. of bacon for that price. So we definitely will not be ordering that again. However, the steaks were A-mazing!!! My boyfriend ordered the 20 oz. Strip. & I got the Prime Rib. Absolutely delicious. Since their sides are all a la carte we ordered mashed potatoes to share. I was not happy with them. Super lumpy and they seemed over cooked. Very disappointed. I could barely eat them, my boyfriend said they were just okay. I don't remember them being like that any of the other times I have been there, so maybe it was just an off night for potatoes.
We will definitely be back even if it is just for the steaks. They know how to cook an amazing steak that's for sure.
For this type of place, service was horrid and comparable to a Waffle House. There was no greeting, came to the table and said "ready?" Overcooked the steak. Embarrassing as we were entertaining clients. I will never eat here again, there are too many good options in Indy. Go to Elmo's, so worth it
It was our Anniversary and we like to step out and experience different restaurants. Shula's did not disappoint. The food was superb from presentation, preparation, to taste. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and made recommendations. We were so impressed that we have taken some of the ideas from the meal to our own kitchen. The atmosphere was very pleasing - we will definitely be back.
We took my dad for his 65th birthday. Forgot about Gencon, so Shula's was packed. Disappointed with service. Took 40 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Waiter came to table and asked if we knew what we wanted? Did not go over menu...fish of the day...cuts of meat, etc. Being that it was my father's birthday and first visit, I was very disappointed. Wait staff was very apologetic. Very surprised to not receive a visit from a manager, especially after several complaints.
Food was good, except the Brussels sprouts were hard as a rock. Service was horrible. Had to ask for a straw 3 times, and we got no refills on our drinks due to the waiter disappearing most of the visit. My husband had to walk up to the bar to get our beer refills. Wasn't a good first impression unfortunately.
Shula's is a chain but it is a very, very good chain. Been to other Shula's and the staff has always been top-notch, Indy too. Food is expense-account steakhouse - predictable but very good and of the highest quality. One gets what one pays for; Shula's delivers.
I understand that places can have "off days" but we had a distracted server, and poor food. The side dishes were awful, crispy brussel sprouts were just burnt, The triple seafood tasted old, The scallops were good but the roasted corn was burnt, dry and inedible, and I had to argue with the person who bought it to our table that what was on the plate was not what was described on the menu. He didn't bother to check it out he just denied it. The server went back later and got the other item that was supposed to be on the plate. The bread was delicious so that helped us to have something satisfying on our plate. We paid well over $120 for a meal that was awful. I also do not believe that my husbands received the 8 oz steak that he ordered. I think it was a medallion or a 6 oz. we paid for an 8 oz!
The waiter was very rude like he didn't want to be there. For 180.00 for rude service it was not worth it he was extremely rude to my 9 year old daughter. The manager came over and asked how everything was and i told her about the waiter and she could of cared less like she has heard it many times before.
I had booked our reservation on Open Table with a special note that indicated we would be celebrating our 1 year anniversary. When we arrived the hostess greeted us, but then received a phone call that required her attention for a few minutes leaving us standing there twittling our thumbs. When we were seated my silverware and water glass were dirty and both of our wine glasses were covered in water spots. The server removed the dirty tableware but instead of returning with clean silverware he simply went behind the scenes and "washed" what had been sitting on our table and returned it wet. In addition to this there was a stain on our table cloth, the half wall next to me was splattered with food particles, and a gnat kept flying over us as we attempted to enjoy our dinner. Furthermore, when our shrimp cocktail arrived it wasn't deveined properly and thus was inedible in my opinion. The knife I used to cut the piece of shrimp that was eaten had been taken off my plate and put back on the table despite there being shrimp pieces left on the cutting edge. The knife we used to butter our bread had fallen in the butter and again instead of replacing the knife it was simply plucked out of the butter by the server and placed back on our table, handle covered in butter. Our food arrived and was delicious (no complaints there); however at the end of dinner our check book arrived dirty. We actually watched the server remove stuck on food particles from the check book table side. He also came out with a small box of truffles and stated "I've got some truffles for you. We're supposed to give you a card and some other stuff but it seems we're out of that." Needless to say, but we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant as our experience was highly disappointing. While the food was excellent, the restaurant was dirty and the service could have been better (very limited attention to detail).
Great steaks as always. Sides were also well-prepared. Disappointed that the Pinot Noir that was on the menu and recommended by the waiter turned out to be unavailable. Also, it was very warm in the dining room. A convention was in the hotel and the bar noise was very loud toward the end of our meal even though we were in the far dining area with my request for a quiet area to dine.
Like the Westin it resides in, this Shula's is just wide of the mark...or to use an NFL term,
It's OK, but only OK. Food was good, place on Sunday night was very messy/dirty.
As with the hotel, appears to be understaffed especially regarding staff that handle cleanup.
Dirty floors, had to send back a dirty wine glass.
Staff attentive, but again, ambience and cleanliness are sadly lacking.
Not on our A list.
