Three of us ordered the steak sandwich for lunch. One ordered medium rare, the other two ordered medium well. - we all got well done steak. It was incredibly tough to eat - fatty and grisly. Which in it of itself isn’t bad, but in a sandwich it is. For a steak house with such a good name, I expected a lot more.
Had dinner at Shulas on a Saturday night. The hostess was very professional and sat us at a table next to a window. Our waitress Maria was fantastic, very friendly and always available and asking if we needed anything, but not over bearing. Food was excellent as expected, pricey but we knew that before we made the reservation. The manager even checked on us a few times.

The food was outstanding as usual, but the service was poor. Considering it was a party of 6 coming in for Christmas dinner, the waiter seemed like he didn't want to be there and seldom checked on us leaving drink glasses empty too long and the normally attentive support staff wasn't there. He didn't deserve the 20% gratuity that was automatically added to the bill.
I know it was Christmas when we dined here, but the service was very slow and the food all came out barely warm. My group was all from Chicago. We were all excited to try this place for the first time, because every Christmas we have gone to The Grill on the Alley at the Westin and wanted to try a new steak place for Christmas to make it a new tradition. Unfortunately, this first experience was pretty bad, because the service was extremely slow, however, the server was friendly whenever he was able to show up at our table. All the servers seemed to be running in all sorts of directions. ALL of our food was served barely warm enough to eat. I noticed another table send their food back, because it was to warm and then had to wait about 20 minutes for the food to return.
I really wanted to like this place, because we liked the location and the menu options. If the food could have been served at the proper temperature and the restaurant had adequate staffing this review could have been totally different. There were five of us dining and each paid roughly $125 for what was a memorable experience, but in the wrong way for Shula's.
If you are going to be open on Christmas or any other major holiday, please remember to not take a lot of reservations if you do not have enough staff (kitchen/wait). Better to turn people away then give them a bad experience.
Not sure if we will be returning in the future.
Calamari appetizer, wedge salad, Cowboy 22 oz steak, filet mignon 8 oz, mushroom side and double baked potato were outstanding, cooked exactly as ordered and flavorful. Totally enjoyed the dinner. Milen was our waiter and he did an outstanding job. We will return again soon.
We are from the gulf coast so maybe I shouldn't have ordered the crab cakes and scallops in Chicago. They were ok but not cooked til hot which is the least to ask for. The Filet medallions were good and cooked just right. The best thing we had was the macaroni and cheese and the bread. For the price I would ask for much more in quality of the food.
James always knows how to point me in the right direction when I come in for dinner. Stephanie always follows up after dinner arrives and my visit is never the same unless Gwen is at the front welcoming me. Great staff!! Thank you all for a great dinner. Missing Jeff!!
They completely dropped the ball. It was the worst meal in 30 years. We have eaten at Shula's before and it has been very good. This time was horrible. The onion soups that were ordered were lukewarm. Then the painful delay. Then our entrees came out and all four entrees were cold. I went up to complain and the manager comped all the entrees. We left hungry and very disappointed.
Overall, a disappointing experience. Service was friendly but inattentive. Food was good but very slow to the table and not done to specifications. It was so late, however, that we didn't want to send back. Total meal time was 3+ hours with only entrees, and the restaurant was full but not packed.
Good was good and the service started out really good but deteriorated as the tables filled up. I think the staff was overwhelmed and may have been short one or two waitstaffers. Comped us a dessert but we waited for a good while between courses and drinks. We picked Shula's because I was staying at the Sheraton. The quality and value contrast to the food and service the next night at Wildfire was stark. Maybe just an off night.
Disappointing. The food was okay, but the service was mediocre at best. The wine prices are over the top for so so wine. When the bottle I ordered wasn't not available, the server didn't offer another option, just handed me back the menu. No one ever asked if our food was okay, or gave us what a typical, high end steakhouse would in terms of service. Won't waste my money there again.
Very good food, but ridiculously and brazenly overpriced, even by hotel steakhouse standards. If you are staying at the Sheraton and don't feel like venturing out even a couple of blocks to dozens of other more worthy restaurants, and your budget is not a deterrent or you are on the expense account, you will have a very enjoyable meal with a nice steak and very good service. Wine prices are just laughable and infuriating at the same time.
12 oz Filet was outstanding as were our sides and Martini's. Very congenial and attentive service by James our bartender and Mr Milan our waiter. The Bacon appetizer was tasteful and nice, as was our shared Wedge Salad. Our sides were the Double baked potato and Mushroom side. For dessert we shared the creamy Chocolate Ice Cream. We definetly recommend Shulas Restaurants.
